A tradição dos anciãos(A)
15 Então, chegaram ao pé de Jesus uns escribas e fariseus de Jerusalém, dizendo: 2 Por que transgridem os teus discípulos a tradição dos anciãos? Pois não lavam as mãos quando comem pão. 3 Ele, porém, respondendo, disse-lhes: Por que transgredis vós também o mandamento de Deus pela vossa tradição? 4 Porque Deus ordenou, dizendo: Honra a teu pai e a tua mãe; e: Quem maldisser ao pai ou à mãe, que morra de morte. 5 Mas vós dizeis: Qualquer que disser ao pai ou à mãe: É oferta ao Senhor o que poderias aproveitar de mim, esse não precisa honrar nem a seu pai nem a sua mãe, 6 E assim invalidastes, pela vossa tradição, o mandamento de Deus. 7 Hipócritas, bem profetizou Isaías a vosso respeito, dizendo: 8 Este povo honra-me com os seus lábios, mas o seu coração está longe de mim. 9 Mas em vão me adoram, ensinando doutrinas que são preceitos dos homens. 10 E, chamando a si a multidão, disse-lhes: Ouvi e entendei: 11 o que contamina o homem não é o que entra na boca, mas o que sai da boca, isso é o que contamina o homem. 12 Então, acercando-se dele os seus discípulos, disseram-lhe: Sabes que os fariseus, ouvindo essas palavras, se escandalizaram? 13 Ele, porém, respondendo, disse: Toda planta que meu Pai celestial não plantou será arrancada. 14 Deixai-os; são condutores cegos; ora, se um cego guiar outro cego, ambos cairão na cova. 15 E Pedro, tomando a palavra, disse-lhe: Explica-nos essa parábola. 16 Jesus, porém, disse: Até vós mesmos estais ainda sem entender? 17 Ainda não compreendeis que tudo o que entra pela boca desce para o ventre e é lançado fora? 18 Mas o que sai da boca procede do coração, e isso contamina o homem. 19 Porque do coração procedem os maus pensamentos, mortes, adultérios, prostituição, furtos, falsos testemunhos e blasfêmias. 20 São essas coisas que contaminam o homem; mas comer sem lavar as mãos, isso não contamina o homem.
A mulher cananeia(B)
21 E, partindo Jesus dali, foi para as partes de Tiro e de Sidom. 22 E eis que uma mulher cananeia, que saíra daquelas cercanias, clamou, dizendo: Senhor, Filho de Davi, tem misericórdia de mim, que minha filha está miseravelmente endemoninhada. 23 Mas ele não lhe respondeu palavra. E os seus discípulos, chegando ao pé dele, rogaram-lhe, dizendo: Despede-a, que vem gritando atrás de nós. 24 E ele, respondendo, disse: Eu não fui enviado senão às ovelhas perdidas da casa de Israel. 25 Então, chegou ela e adorou-o, dizendo: Senhor, socorre-me. 26 Ele, porém, respondendo, disse: Não é bom pegar o pão dos filhos e deitá-lo aos cachorrinhos. 27 E ela disse: Sim, Senhor, mas também os cachorrinhos comem das migalhas que caem da mesa dos seus senhores. 28 Então, respondeu Jesus e disse-lhe: Ó mulher, grande é a tua fé. Seja isso feito para contigo, como tu desejas. E, desde aquela hora, a sua filha ficou sã.
A segunda multiplicação dos pães e peixes(C)
29 Partindo Jesus dali, chegou ao pé do mar da Galileia e, subindo a um monte, assentou-se lá. 30 E veio ter com ele muito povo, que trazia coxos, cegos, mudos, aleijados e outros muitos; e os puseram aos pés de Jesus, e ele os sarou, 31 de tal sorte que a multidão se maravilhou vendo os mudos a falar, os aleijados sãos, os coxos a andar, e os cegos a ver; e glorificava o Deus de Israel.
32 E Jesus, chamando os seus discípulos, disse: Tenho compaixão da multidão, porque já está comigo há três dias e não tem o que comer, e não quero despedi-la em jejum, para que não desfaleça no caminho. 33 E os seus discípulos disseram-lhe: Donde nos viriam num deserto tantos pães, para saciar tal multidão? 34 E Jesus disse-lhes: Quantos pães tendes? E eles disseram: Sete e uns poucos peixinhos. 35 Então, mandou à multidão que se assentasse no chão. 36 E, tomando os sete pães e os peixes e dando graças, partiu-os e deu-os aos seus discípulos, e os discípulos, à multidão. 37 E todos comeram e se saciaram, e levantaram, do que sobejou, sete cestos cheios de pedaços. 38 Ora, os que tinham comido eram quatro mil homens, além de mulheres e crianças. 39 E, tendo despedido a multidão, entrou no barco e dirigiu-se ao território de Magdala.

Ensino sobre a pureza interior
15 Então alguns fariseus e mestres da lei chegaram de Jerusalém para ver Jesus e lhe perguntaram: 2 “Por que seus discípulos desobedecem à tradição dos líderes religiosos? Eles não respeitam a cerimônia de lavar as mãos antes de comer!”.
3 Jesus respondeu: “E por que vocês, com suas tradições, desobedecem ao mandamento de Deus? 4 Pois Deus ordenou: ‘Honre seu pai e sua mãe’[a] e ‘Quem insultar seu pai ou sua mãe será executado’.[b] 5 Em vez disso, vocês ensinam que, se alguém disser a seus pais: ‘Sinto muito, mas não posso ajudá-los; jurei entregar como oferta a Deus aquilo que eu teria dado a vocês’, 6 não precisará mais honrar seus pais. Com isso, vocês anulam a palavra de Deus em favor de sua própria tradição. 7 Hipócritas! Isaías tinha razão quando assim profetizou a seu respeito:
8 ‘Este povo me honra com os lábios,
mas o coração está longe de mim.
9 Sua adoração é uma farsa,
pois ensinam ideias humanas
como se fossem mandamentos divinos’”.[c]
10 Jesus chamou a multidão para perto de si e disse: “Ouçam e procurem entender. 11 Não é o que entra pela boca que os contamina; vocês se contaminam com as palavras que saem dela”.
12 Então os discípulos vieram e perguntaram: “O senhor sabe que ofendeu os fariseus com isso que acabou de dizer?”.
13 Jesus respondeu: “Toda planta que meu Pai celestial não plantou será arrancada pela raiz. 14 Portanto, não façam caso deles. São guias cegos conduzindo cegos e, se um cego conduzir outro, ambos cairão numa vala”.
15 Então Pedro disse: “Explique-nos a parábola de que as pessoas não são contaminadas pelo que comem”.
16 “Ainda não entendem?”, perguntou Jesus. 17 “Tudo que comem passa pelo estômago e vai para o esgoto, 18 mas as palavras vêm do coração, e é isso que os contamina. 19 Pois do coração vêm maus pensamentos, homicídio, adultério, imoralidade sexual, roubo, mentiras e calúnias. 20 São essas coisas que os contaminam. Comer sem lavar as mãos não os contaminará.”
A mulher cananeia
21 Então Jesus deixou a Galileia, rumo ao norte, para a região de Tiro e Sidom. 22 Uma mulher cananeia que ali morava veio a ele, suplicando: “Senhor, Filho de Davi, tenha misericórdia de mim! Minha filha está possuída por um demônio que a atormenta terrivelmente”.
23 Jesus não disse uma só palavra em resposta. Então os discípulos insistiram com ele: “Mande-a embora; ela não para de gritar atrás de nós”.
24 Jesus disse à mulher: “Fui enviado para ajudar apenas as ovelhas perdidas do povo de Israel”.
25 A mulher, porém, aproximou-se, ajoelhou-se diante dele e implorou mais uma vez: “Senhor, ajude-me!”.
26 Jesus respondeu: “Não é certo tirar comida das crianças e jogá-la aos cachorros”.
27 “Senhor, é verdade”, disse a mulher. “No entanto, até os cachorros comem as migalhas que caem da mesa de seus donos.”
28 “Mulher, sua fé é grande”, disse-lhe Jesus. “Seu pedido será atendido.” E, no mesmo instante, a filha dela foi curada.
Jesus cura muitas pessoas
29 Deixando aquele lugar, Jesus voltou ao mar da Galileia e subiu a um monte, onde se sentou. 30 Uma grande multidão veio e colocou diante dele aleijados, cegos, paralíticos, mudos e muitos outros, e ele curou a todos. 31 As pessoas ficavam admiradas e louvavam o Deus de Israel, pois os que eram mudos agora falavam, os paralíticos estavam curados, os aleijados andavam e os cegos podiam ver.
A segunda multiplicação dos pães
32 Então Jesus chamou seus discípulos e disse: “Tenho compaixão dessa gente. Estão aqui comigo há três dias e não têm mais nada para comer. Se eu os mandar embora com fome, podem desmaiar no caminho”.
33 Os discípulos disseram: “Onde conseguiríamos comida suficiente para tamanha multidão neste lugar deserto?”.
34 Jesus perguntou: “Quantos pães vocês têm?”.
“Sete, e alguns peixinhos”, responderam eles.
35 Então Jesus mandou todo o povo sentar-se no chão. 36 Tomou os sete pães e os peixes, agradeceu a Deus e os partiu em pedaços. Em seguida, entregou-os aos discípulos, que os distribuíram à multidão.
37 Todos comeram à vontade, e os discípulos recolheram, ainda, sete cestos grandes com as sobras. 38 Os que comeram foram quatro mil homens, sem contar mulheres e crianças. 39 Então Jesus os mandou para casa, entrou num barco e atravessou para a região de Magadã.

Las tradiciones de los fariseos
15 Entonces se acercaron a Jesús ciertos escribas y fariseos de Jerusalén, diciendo:
2 ¿Por qué quebrantan tus discípulos la tradición de los ancianos? Pues no se lavan las manos cuando comen pan.
3 Respondiendo él, les dijo: ¿Por qué también vosotros quebrantáis el mandamiento de Dios por vuestra tradición?
4 Porque Dios mandó diciendo: Honra a tu padre y a tu madre; y: El que maldiga al padre o a la madre, muera irremisiblemente.
5 Pero vosotros decís: Cualquiera que diga a su padre o a su madre: Ya he ofrecido a Dios todo lo mío con que yo pudiera ayudarte,
6 ya no está obligado a honrar a su padre o a su madre. Así habéis invalidado el mandamiento de Dios por vuestra tradición.
7 Hipócritas, bien profetizó de vosotros Isaías, cuando dijo:
8 Este pueblo me honra con los labios;
Pero su corazón está lejos de mí.
9 Mas en vano me rinden culto,
Enseñando doctrinas que son preceptos de hombres.
10 Y llamando a sí a la multitud, les dijo: Oíd, y entended:
11 No es lo que entra en la boca lo que contamina al hombre, sino lo que sale de la boca, eso es lo que contamina al hombre.
12 Entonces, acercándose sus discípulos, le dijeron: ¿Sabes que los fariseos se ofendieron al oír esas palabras?
13 Pero él respondió y dijo: Toda planta que no ha plantado mi Padre celestial, será desarraigada.
14 Dejadlos; son ciegos guías de ciegos; y si un ciego guía a otro ciego, ambos caerán en un hoyo.
15 Tomando la palabra Pedro, le dijo: Explícanos esa parábola.
16 Jesús dijo: ¿También vosotros estáis aún sin comprender?
17 ¿No entendéis que todo lo que entra en la boca pasa al vientre, y es echado en el estercolero?
18 Pero lo que sale de la boca, sale del corazón; y eso es lo que contamina al hombre.
19 Porque del corazón salen los malos pensamientos, los homicidios, los adulterios, las fornicaciones, los hurtos, los falsos testimonios, las blasfemias.
20 Estas cosas son las que contaminan al hombre; pero el comer con las manos sin lavar no contamina al hombre.
La fe de la mujer cananea
21 Saliendo Jesús de allí, se retiró a la región de Tiro y de Sidón.
22 Y he aquí que una mujer cananea, que había salido de aquellos confines, gritaba, diciéndole: ¡Señor, Hijo de David, ten compasión de mí! Mi hija es gravemente atormentada por un demonio.
23 Pero Jesús no le respondió palabra. Entonces, acercándose sus discípulos, le rogaban, diciendo: Dile que se vaya, porque viene gritando detrás de nosotros.
24 Él, respondiendo, dijo: No he sido enviado sino a las ovejas perdidas de la casa de Israel.
25 Entonces ella vino y se postró ante él, diciendo: ¡Señor, socórreme!
26 Respondiendo él, dijo: No está bien tomar el pan de los hijos, y echarlo a los perrillos.
27 Y ella dijo: Sí, Señor; pues también los perrillos comen de las migajas que caen de la mesa de sus amos.
28 Entonces, respondiendo Jesús, dijo: Oh mujer, grande es tu fe; hágase contigo como quieres. Y su hija quedó sana desde aquel momento.
Jesucristo sana a muchos
29 Pasó Jesús de allí y vino junto al mar de Galilea; y subiendo al monte, se sentó allí.
30 Y se le acercó mucha gente que traía consigo a cojos, ciegos, mudos, mancos, y otros muchos enfermos; y los pusieron a los pies de Jesús, y los sanó;
31 de manera que la multitud se maravillaba, viendo a los mudos hablar, a los mancos sanados, a los cojos andar, y a los ciegos ver; y glorificaban al Dios de Israel.
Alimentación de los cuatro mil
32 Y Jesús, llamando a sus discípulos, dijo: Tengo compasión de la gente, porque ya hace tres días que están conmigo, y no tienen qué comer; y no quiero enviarlos en ayunas, no sea que desfallezcan en el camino.
33 Entonces sus discípulos le dijeron: ¿De dónde podemos obtener nosotros tantos panes en un despoblado, para saciar a una multitud tan grande?
34 Jesús les dijo: ¿Cuántos panes tenéis? Y ellos dijeron: Siete, y unos pocos pececillos.
35 Entonces él mandó a la multitud que se recostase en tierra.
36 Y tomando los siete panes y los peces, dio gracias, los partió y los dio a sus discípulos, y los discípulos a la multitud.
37 Y comieron todos, y se saciaron; y recogieron lo que sobró de los pedazos, siete canastas llenas.
38 Y eran los que habían comido, cuatro mil hombres, sin contar mujeres y niños.
39 Entonces despidió a la gente, entró en la barca, y vino a los confines de Magdalá.

That Which Defiles(A)
15 Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked, 2 “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don’t wash their hands before they eat!”(B)
3 Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? 4 For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’[a](C) and ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’[b](D) 5 But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is ‘devoted to God,’ 6 they are not to ‘honor their father or mother’ with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. 7 You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:
8 “‘These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
9 They worship me in vain;
their teachings are merely human rules.(E)’[c](F)”
10 Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen and understand. 11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them,(G) but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”(H)
12 Then the disciples came to him and asked, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this?”
13 He replied, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted(I) will be pulled up by the roots. 14 Leave them; they are blind guides.[d](J) If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”(K)
15 Peter said, “Explain the parable to us.”(L)
16 “Are you still so dull?”(M) Jesus asked them. 17 “Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? 18 But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart,(N) and these defile them. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.(O) 20 These are what defile a person;(P) but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.”
The Faith of a Canaanite Woman(Q)
21 Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon.(R) 22 A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David,(S) have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.”(T)
23 Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.”
24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”(U)
25 The woman came and knelt before him.(V) “Lord, help me!” she said.
26 He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”
27 “Yes it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.”
28 Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith!(W) Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment.
Jesus Feeds the Four Thousand(X)(Y)(Z)
29 Jesus left there and went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up on a mountainside and sat down. 30 Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them.(AA) 31 The people were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel.(AB)
32 Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for these people;(AC) they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way.”
33 His disciples answered, “Where could we get enough bread in this remote place to feed such a crowd?”
34 “How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked.
“Seven,” they replied, “and a few small fish.”
35 He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. 36 Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, and when he had given thanks, he broke them(AD) and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people. 37 They all ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.(AE) 38 The number of those who ate was four thousand men, besides women and children. 39 After Jesus had sent the crowd away, he got into the boat and went to the vicinity of Magadan.

3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
29 And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.
30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:
31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
32 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
33 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?
34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
39 And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.
