Predicación de Juan el Bautista
3 (A)En aquellos días llegó* Juan el Bautista predicando en el desierto de Judea(B), diciendo: 2 «Arrepiéntanse(C), porque el reino de los cielos(D) se ha acercado». 3 Porque este Juan es aquel a quien se refirió el[a] profeta Isaías, cuando dijo:
«Voz del que clama en el desierto:
“Preparen el camino del Señor,
Hagan derechas Sus sendas(E)”».
4 Y él, Juan, tenía un[b] vestido de pelo de camello y un cinto de cuero a la cintura(F); y su comida era de langostas[c](G) y miel silvestre. 5 Entonces Jerusalén, toda Judea y toda la región alrededor del Jordán(H), acudían a él, 6 y confesando sus pecados, eran bautizados(I) por Juan en el río Jordán.
7 Pero cuando vio que muchos de los fariseos(J) y saduceos(K) venían para el bautismo, les dijo: «¡Camada de víboras(L)! ¿Quién les enseñó a huir de la ira que está al venir(M)? 8 Por tanto, den frutos dignos de arrepentimiento(N); 9 y no piensen que pueden decirse a sí mismos: “Tenemos a Abraham por padre(O)”, porque les digo que Dios puede levantar hijos a Abraham de estas piedras. 10 El hacha ya está puesta a la raíz de los árboles; por tanto, todo árbol que no da buen fruto es cortado y echado al fuego(P). 11 Yo, en verdad, los bautizo a ustedes con[d] agua para arrepentimiento(Q), pero Aquel que viene detrás de mí es más poderoso que yo, a quien no soy digno de quitar las sandalias; Él los bautizará(R) con[e] el Espíritu Santo y con fuego. 12 El bieldo está en Su mano(S) y limpiará completamente Su era; y recogerá Su trigo en el granero(T), pero quemará la paja en un fuego que no se apaga(U)».

13 (V)Entonces Jesús llegó* de Galilea(W) al Jordán, a donde estaba Juan, para ser bautizado por él. 14 Pero Juan trató de impedirlo, diciendo: «Yo necesito ser bautizado por Ti, ¿y Tú vienes a mí?».
15 Jesús le respondió: «Permítelo ahora; porque es conveniente que así cumplamos toda justicia(X)». Entonces Juan consintió*. 16 Después de ser bautizado, Jesús salió del agua inmediatamente; y los cielos se abrieron en ese momento y él[f] vio al Espíritu de Dios que descendía como una paloma y venía sobre Él(Y). 17 Y se oyó una voz de los cielos que decía: «Este es Mi Hijo amado[g] en quien me he complacido(Z)».

John the Baptist Prepares the Way(A)
3 In those days John the Baptist(B) came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea 2 and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven(C) has come near.” 3 This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:
“A voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’”[a](D)
4 John’s(E) clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist.(F) His food was locusts(G) and wild honey. 5 People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordan. 6 Confessing their sins, they were baptized(H) by him in the Jordan River.
7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: “You brood of vipers!(I) Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?(J) 8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.(K) 9 And do not think you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’(L) I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. 10 The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.(M)
11 “I baptize you with[b] water for repentance.(N) But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with[c] the Holy Spirit(O) and fire.(P) 12 His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”(Q)
The Baptism of Jesus(R)
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John.(S) 14 But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”
15 Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented.
16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened,(T) and he saw the Spirit of God(U) descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven(V) said, “This is my Son,(W) whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”(X)

3 В те дни пришёл Иоанн Креститель и начал проповедовать слово Божье в иудейской пустыне. 2 Он говорил: «Покайтесь, так как Царство Небесное близко». 3 Это о нём говорил пророк Исаия:
«Голос раздаётся в пустыне, восклицая:
„Подготовьте путь Господу,
проложите Ему тропы прямые”»[a].
4 Одежда Иоанна была из верблюжьей шерсти, а подпоясывался он широким кожаным ремнём. Питался же он саранчой[b] и диким мёдом. 5 В то время люди отовсюду приходили послушать Его: из Иерусалима, из всей Иудеи и из всех окрестностей вдоль реки Иордан. 6 Иоанн крестил их в водах Иордана, и они исповедовались в своих грехах.
7 Увидев, что пришло много фарисеев и саддукеев, чтобы принять от него крещение, Иоанн сказал им: «Отродья змеиные! Кто предупредил вас, чтобы вы бежали от приближающегося гнева Божьего? 8 Докажите, что вы действительно покаялись, 9 и не думайте, что достаточно вам будет сказать: „Наш отец—Авраам”. Я говорю вам, что Бог может вот эти камни превратить в детей Авраама. 10 Топор уже готов рубить деревья[c]. Всякое дерево, которое не приносит хорошие плоды, будет срублено и брошено в огонь.
11 Я крещу водой в знак покаяния, но Тот, Кто придёт после меня, могущественнее меня. Я недостоин даже быть рабом, который снимает Его сандалии. Он будет крестить вас Святым Духом и огнём. 12 В Его руке будет лопата, которой Он отделит зерно от мякины[d]. Он соберёт хорошее зерно в Свою житницу, а мякину сожжёт в неугасимом огне».

13 В то время Иисус пришёл из Галилеи к реке Иордан. Он пришёл к Иоанну, потому что хотел, чтобы Иоанн крестил Его. 14 Но Иоанн попытался удержать Его, говоря: «Это я должен креститься у Тебя, так почему же Ты пришёл ко мне?»
15 В ответ Иисус сказал ему: «Пусть пока будет так, потому что положено нам выполнить всё, что назначено Богом». Тогда Иоанн согласился крестить Его.
16 Иисус крестился, а когда Он вышел из воды, небеса открылись перед Ним, и Он увидел Духа Божьего, спускавшийся на Него подобно голубю. 17 И голос с небес провозгласил: «Вот Сын Мой возлюбленный, к Которому Я благоволю».
