Ang Salita ng Diyos

Nagbigti si Judas

27 Kinaumagahan, lahat ng mga pinunong-saserdote at ng mga matanda sa mga tao ay sumangguni sa isa’t isa laban kay Jesus upang maipapatay nila siya.

2 Tinalian nila si Jesus at ibinigay kay Pontio Pilato na gobernador.

3 Nang makita ni Judas, na siyang nagkanulo kay Jesus, na siya ay hinatulan, nagsisi siya. Isinauli niya ang tatlumpung pilak sa mga pinunong-saserdote at sa mga matanda. 4 Sinabi niya: Nagkasala ako sa pagkakanulo ko sa walang salang dugo.

Ngunit sinabi nila: Ano iyan sa amin? Ikaw na ang bahala diyan.

5 Itinapon niya ang tatlumpung pilak sa banal na dako at siya ay umalis. Pagkaalis niya roon, siya ay nagbigti.

6 Kinuha ng mga pinunong-saserdote ang tatlumpung pilak.Kanilang sinabi: Labag sa kautusan na ilagay ang mga ito sa kaban ng yaman sapagkat ibinayad sa dugo ang salaping ito. 7 Nang sila ay nakapagsanggunian na, ibinili nila ito ng bukid ng magpapalayok upang ito ay maging libingan ng mga dayuhan. 8 Kaya nga, ang bukid na iyon ay tinawag, hanggang sa araw na itona: Bukid ng dugo. 9 Natupad nga ang sinabi ni propeta Jeremias. Sinabi niya: Kinuha ko ang tatlumpung pilak. Ito ang ibinigay na kaniyang halaga, na itinakdang halaga ng mga anak ni Israel. 10 Ito ay ibinigay para sa bukid ng magpapalayok ayon sa iniutos sa akin ng Panginoon.

Si Jesus sa Harap ni Pilato

11 Si Jesus ay tumayo sa harap ng gobernador. Tinanong siya ng gobernador na sinasabi: Ikaw ba ang Hari ng mga Judio?

Sinabi ni Jesus sa kaniya: Tama ang iyong sinabi.

12 Nang siya ay pinaratangan ng mga pinunong-saserdote at ng mga matanda, wala siyang isinagot. 13 Sinabi ni Pilato sa kaniya: Narinig mo ba ang marami nilang paratang laban sa iyo? 14 Hindi sumagot si Jesus sa kaniya, na lubhang ikinamangha ng gobernador.

15 Kinaugalian na ng gobernador na sa tuwing araw ng paggunita ay magpapalaya siya sa karamihan ng isang bilanggo na ibig nila. 16 Nang panahong iyon, ay mayroon silang isang kilalang bilanggo na tinatawag na Barabas. 17 Nang sila ay nagtipun-tipon sinabi ni Pilato sa kanila: Sino ang nais ninyong palayain ko para sa inyo? Si Barabas o si Jesus na tinatawag na Cristo? 18 Ito ay sapagkat alam niya na inggit ang dahilan nang ibinigay nila si Jesus sa kaniya.

19 Samantalang siya ay nakaupo sa upuan ng hukom, lumapit sa kaniya ang kaniyang asawa. Kaniyang sinabi: Huwag mo nang pakialaman ang matuwid na taong iyan. Ang dahilan ay lubha akong nahirapan sa araw na ito sa isang panaginip dahil sa lalaking iyan.

20 Ngunit hinikayat ng mga pinunong-saserdote at ng mga matanda sa mga tao, na hingiin ng karamihan si Barabas at ipapatay si Jesus.

21 Sumagot ang gobernador: Sino sa dalawa ang nais ninyong palayain ko para sa inyo?

Sinabi nila: Si Barabas!

22 Sinabi ni Pilato sa kanila: Ano nga ang gagawin ko kay Jesus na tinatawag na Cristo?

Sinabi nilang lahat sa kaniya: Ipapako siya sa krus!

23 Sinabi ng gobernador: Ano ang ginawa niyang masama?

Ngunit lalo silang sumigaw, na sinasabi: Ipapako siya sa krus!

24 Nang makita ni Pilato na wala na siyang magagawa dito at ang mga tao ay nagsimula ng magkagulo, nagpakuha siya ng tubig at naghugas ng kamay sa harap ng napakaraming tao. Sinabi niya: Wala akong sala sa dugo ng matuwid na lalaking ito. Kayo na ang bahala sa bagay na ito.

25 Sumagot ang lahat ng mga tao: Mapasaamin at sa aming mga anak ang kaniyang dugo.

26 Pagkatapos nito ay pinalaya niya si Barabas ngunit ipinahagupit niya si Jesus at ibinigay niya sa kanila upang ipako sa krus.

Kinutya ng mga Kawal si Jesus

27 Dinala si Jesus ng mga kawal ng gobernador sa hukuman at pinalibutan siya ng buong batalyon ng mga kawal.

28 Hinubaran nila siya at sinuotan ng isang balabal na kulay ube. 29 Nagsalapid sila ng isang koronang tinik at inilagay sa kaniyang ulo. Isang tangkay ng tambo ang inilagay sa kaniyang kanang kamay. Lumuhod sila sa harap ni Jesus at siya ay kinutya. Sinabi nila: Binabati ang Hari ng mga Judio! 30 Dinuraan nila siya at kinuha ang tambo at ipinalo sa kaniyang ulo. 31 Kinutya nila siya at kinuha sa kaniya ang kaniyang balabal. Isinuot nila sa kaniya ang kaniyang damit at siya ay dinala upang ipako sa krus.

Ipinako nila sa Krus si Jesus

32 Nang sila ay papunta na roon, nakita nila ang isang lalaking taga-Cerene na nagngangalang Simon. Isinama nila siya upang ipapasan sa kaniya ang krus.

33 Dumating sila sa isang dako na tinatawag na Golgota. Ang kahulugan nito ay Lugar ng mga Bungo. 34 Binigyan nila si Jesus ng maasim na alak na hinaluan ng apdo upang inumin. Nang matikman niya ito, ayaw niya itong inumin. 35 Nang maipako na nila siya, pinaghati-hatian nila ang kaniyang damit at sila ay nagpala­bunutan. Ito ay upang matupad ang sinabi ng propeta na sinasabi: Pinaghati-hatian nila ang aking damit at nagpala­bunutan sa aking kasuotan. 36 Sila ay naupo roon at binantayan siya. 37 Inilagay nila sa kaniyang ulunan ang paratang sa kaniya. Ito ang nakasulat: ITO SI JESUS ANG HARI NG MGA JUDIO. 38 Ipinakong kasama niya ang dalawang tulisan. Ang isa ay sa kaniyang gawing kanang kamay at ang isa ay sa kaniyang gawing kaliwang kamay. 39 Nilait siya ng mga dumaraan na iniiling ang kanilang mga ulo. 40 Sinasabi nila: Ikaw na magwawasak ng banal na dako at magtatayo nito sa loob ng tatlong araw, iligtas mo ang iyong sarili. Kung ikaw ang Anak ng Diyos, bumaba ka mula sa krus.

41 Sa gayunding paraan kinutya siya ng mga pinunong-saserdote kasama ng mga guro ng kautusan at ng mga matanda, na sinasabi: 42 Iniligtas niya ang iba ngunit hindi niya kayang iligtas ang kaniyang sarili. Kung siya ang hari ng Israel, bumaba siya mula sa krus at sasampalataya kami sa kaniya. 43 Nagtiwala siya sa Diyos. Magpaligtas siya sa kaniya, kung ililigtas siya sapagkat sinabi niya: Ako ay ang Anak ng Diyos. 44 Gayundin nilibak siya ng mga tulisang ipinakong kasama niya.

Si Jesus ay Namatay

45 Nagkaroon ng kadiliman sa buong lupa mula sa ika-anim na oras hanggang sa ika-siyam na oras.

46 Nang mag-iikasiyam na ang oras, si Jesus ay sumigaw nang may malakas na tinig. Sinabi niya: Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? Ang ibig sabihin nito ay: Diyos ko, Diyos ko, bakit mo ako pinabayaan?

47 Narinig siya ng ilan sa mga nakatayo roon. Sinabi nila: Tinatawag ng lalaking ito si Elias.

48 Ang isa sa kanila ay agad-agad na tumakbo at kumuha ng isang espongha. Inilubog niya ito sa maasim na alak at inilagay sa isang tambo upang ipainom sa kaniya. 49 Sinabi ng iba: Pabayaan mo siya. Tingnan natin kung darating si Elias upang iligtas siya.

50 Muling sumigaw si Jesus na may malakas na tinig. Pagkatapos, ipinaubaya niya ang kaniyang espiritu.

51 Narito, ang telang tabing sa banal na dako ay napunit sa dalawa mula sa itaas pababa. Ang lupa ay nayanig at nabiyak ang mga bato. 52 Ang mga libingan ay nabuksan atmaraming katawan ng mga banal na namatay ang bumangon. 53 Pagkatapos niyang mabuhay muli, lumabas sila sa mga libingan at pumasok sa banal na lungsod. Nagpakita sila roon sa maraming tao.

54 Isang kapitan ang naroroon at kasama niya ang mga nagbabantay kay Jesus. Pagkakita nila sa lindol at sa mga bagay na nangyari, lubha silang natakot. Sinabi nila: Totoo ngang ito ang Anak ng Diyos.

55 Maraming mga babae roon ang nakamasid mula sa malayo.Sila yaong sumunod kay Jesus mula sa Galilea at naglingkod sa kaniya. 56 Kabilang sa kanila si Maria na taga-Magdala at si Maria na ina nina Santiago at Jose at ang ina ng mga anak ni Zebedeo.

 

Inilibing si Jesus

57 Nang gumabi na, dumating ang isang mayamang lalaki na taga-Arimatea. Siya ay si Jose na naging alagad ni Jesus.

58 Sa pagpunta niya kay Pilato ay hiningi niya ang katawan ni Jesus. Iniutos ni Pilato na ibigay ang katawan ni Jesus. 59 Pagkakuha ni Jose sa katawan ni Jesus, binalot niya iyon sa malinis na telang lino. 60 At inilagay niya iyon sa kaniyang bagong libingan na inuka niya sa malaking bato. Nang maipagulong na ang isang malaking bato tungo sa pintuan ng libingan ay umalis na siya. 61 Naroroon si Maria na taga-Magdala at ang isa pang Maria. Sila ay nakaupo sa harap libingan.

Ang mga Bantay ng Libingan

62 Kinabukasan ay ang araw pagkatapos ng paghahanda. Ang mga pinunong-saserdote at mga Fariseo ay nagtipun-tipon sa harap ni Pilato.

63 Sinabi nila: Ginoo, naala-ala namin ang sinabi ng mandarayang iyon nang nabubuhay pa siya. Sinabi niya: Pagkalipas ng tatlong araw, ako ay babangon. 64 Ipag-utos mo nga na bantayang maigi ang libingan hanggang sa ikatlong araw at baka sa gabi ay nakawin siya ng kaniyang mga alagad. At sabihin nila sa mga tao: Siya ay nabuhay mula sa mga patay. Kung magkakagayon, ang pandaraya ay magiging malala kaysa una.

65 Sinabi ni Pilato sa kanila: Mayroon kayong tagapag­bantay. Humayo kayo at ipabantayang mahigpit ayon sa inyong kakayanan. 66 Sa pag-alis nila, tiniyak nila na nakasara na ang libingan at nilagyan ng selyo ang bato at ipinabantayan sa mga bantay.

Jesus Brought before Pilate

27 When morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people conferred together against Jesus in order to bring about his death. 2 They bound him, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate the governor.

The Suicide of Judas

3 When Judas, his betrayer, saw that Jesus[a] was condemned, he repented and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders. 4 He said, ‘I have sinned by betraying innocent[b] blood.’ But they said, ‘What is that to us? See to it yourself.’ 5 Throwing down the pieces of silver in the temple, he departed; and he went and hanged himself. 6 But the chief priests, taking the pieces of silver, said, ‘It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, since they are blood money.’ 7 After conferring together, they used them to buy the potter’s field as a place to bury foreigners. 8 For this reason that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day. 9 Then was fulfilled what had been spoken through the prophet Jeremiah,[c] ‘And they took[d] the thirty pieces of silver, the price of the one on whom a price had been set,[e] on whom some of the people of Israel had set a price, 10 and they gave[f] them for the potter’s field, as the Lord commanded me.’

Pilate Questions Jesus

11 Now Jesus stood before the governor; and the governor asked him, ‘Are you the King of the Jews?’ Jesus said, ‘You say so.’ 12 But when he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he did not answer. 13 Then Pilate said to him, ‘Do you not hear how many accusations they make against you?’ 14 But he gave him no answer, not even to a single charge, so that the governor was greatly amazed.

Barabbas or Jesus?

15 Now at the festival the governor was accustomed to release a prisoner for the crowd, anyone whom they wanted. 16 At that time they had a notorious prisoner, called Jesus[g] Barabbas. 17 So after they had gathered, Pilate said to them, ‘Whom do you want me to release for you, Jesus[h] Barabbas or Jesus who is called the Messiah?’[i] 18 For he realized that it was out of jealousy that they had handed him over. 19 While he was sitting on the judgement seat, his wife sent word to him, ‘Have nothing to do with that innocent man, for today I have suffered a great deal because of a dream about him.’ 20 Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowds to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus killed. 21 The governor again said to them, ‘Which of the two do you want me to release for you?’ And they said, ‘Barabbas.’ 22 Pilate said to them, ‘Then what should I do with Jesus who is called the Messiah?’[j] All of them said, ‘Let him be crucified!’ 23 Then he asked, ‘Why, what evil has he done?’ But they shouted all the more, ‘Let him be crucified!’

Pilate Hands Jesus over to Be Crucified

24 So when Pilate saw that he could do nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took some water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, ‘I am innocent of this man’s blood;[k] see to it yourselves.’ 25 Then the people as a whole answered, ‘His blood be on us and on our children!’ 26 So he released Barabbas for them; and after flogging Jesus, he handed him over to be crucified.

The Soldiers Mock Jesus

27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the governor’s headquarters,[l] and they gathered the whole cohort around him. 28 They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, 29 and after twisting some thorns into a crown, they put it on his head. They put a reed in his right hand and knelt before him and mocked him, saying, ‘Hail, King of the Jews!’ 30 They spat on him, and took the reed and struck him on the head. 31 After mocking him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him.

The Crucifixion of Jesus

32 As they went out, they came upon a man from Cyrene named Simon; they compelled this man to carry his cross. 33 And when they came to a place called Golgotha (which means Place of a Skull), 34 they offered him wine to drink, mixed with gall; but when he tasted it, he would not drink it. 35 And when they had crucified him, they divided his clothes among themselves by casting lots;[m] 36 then they sat down there and kept watch over him. 37 Over his head they put the charge against him, which read, ‘This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.’

38 Then two bandits were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left. 39 Those who passed by derided[n] him, shaking their heads 40 and saying, ‘You who would destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross.’ 41 In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes and elders, were mocking him, saying, 42 ‘He saved others; he cannot save himself.[o] He is the King of Israel; let him come down from the cross now, and we will believe in him. 43 He trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he wants to; for he said, “I am God’s Son.”’ 44 The bandits who were crucified with him also taunted him in the same way.

The Death of Jesus

45 From noon on, darkness came over the whole land[p] until three in the afternoon. 46 And about three o’clock Jesus cried with a loud voice, ‘Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?’ that is, ‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’ 47 When some of the bystanders heard it, they said, ‘This man is calling for Elijah.’ 48 At once one of them ran and got a sponge, filled it with sour wine, put it on a stick, and gave it to him to drink. 49 But the others said, ‘Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to save him.’[q] 50 Then Jesus cried again with a loud voice and breathed his last.[r] 51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, and the rocks were split. 52 The tombs also were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised. 53 After his resurrection they came out of the tombs and entered the holy city and appeared to many. 54 Now when the centurion and those with him, who were keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were terrified and said, ‘Truly this man was God’s Son!’[s]

55 Many women were also there, looking on from a distance; they had followed Jesus from Galilee and had provided for him. 56 Among them were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.

The Burial of Jesus

57 When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who was also a disciple of Jesus. 58 He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus; then Pilate ordered it to be given to him. 59 So Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth 60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn in the rock. He then rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb and went away. 61 Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were there, sitting opposite the tomb.

The Guard at the Tomb

62 The next day, that is, after the day of Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate 63 and said, ‘Sir, we remember what that impostor said while he was still alive, “After three days I will rise again.” 64 Therefore command that the tomb be made secure until the third day; otherwise his disciples may go and steal him away, and tell the people, “He has been raised from the dead”, and the last deception would be worse than the first.’ 65 Pilate said to them, ‘You have a guard[t] of soldiers; go, make it as secure as you can.’[u] 66 So they went with the guard and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone.

And they said, Barabbas. 22 Pilate saith unto them, What then shall I do unto Jesus who is called Christ? They all say, Let him be crucified. 23 And he said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out exceedingly, saying, Let him be crucified. 24 So when Pilate saw that he prevailed nothing, but rather that a tumult was arising, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent [j]of the blood of this righteous man; see ye to it. 25 And all the people answered and said, His blood be on us, and on our children. 26 Then released he unto them Barabbas; but Jesus he scourged and delivered to be crucified.

27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the [k]Praetorium, and gathered unto him the whole [l]band. 28 And they [m]stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. 29 And they platted a crown of thorns and put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they kneeled down before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! 30 And they spat upon him, and took the reed and smote him on the head. 31 And when they had mocked him, they took off from him the robe, and put on him his garments, and led him away to crucify him.

32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they [n]compelled to go with them, that he might bear his cross.

33 And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, The place of a skull, 34 they gave him wine to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted it, he would not drink. 35 And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments among them, casting lots; 36 and they sat and watched him there. 37 And they set up over his head his accusation written, This is Jesus the King of the Jews. 38 Then are there crucified with him two robbers, one on the right hand and one on the left. 39 And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, 40 and saying, Thou that destroyest the [o]temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself: if thou art the Son of God, come down from the cross. 41 In like manner also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, 42 He saved others; [p]himself he cannot save. He is the King of Israel; let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe on him. 43 He trusteth on God; let him deliver him now, if he desireth him: for he said, I am the Son of God. 44 And the robbers also that were crucified with him cast upon him the same reproach.

45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the [q]land until the ninth hour. 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, [r]Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is, My God, my God, [s]why hast thou forsaken me? 47 And some of them that stood there, when they heard it, said, This man calleth Elijah. 48 And straightway one of them ran, and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink. 49 And the rest said, Let be; let us see whether Elijah cometh to save him.[t] 50 And Jesus cried again with a loud voice, and yielded up his spirit. 51 And behold, the veil of the [u]temple was rent in two from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake; and the rocks were rent; 52 and the tombs were opened; and many bodies of the saints that had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming forth out of the tombs after his resurrection they entered into the holy city and appeared unto many. 54 Now the centurion, and they that were with him watching Jesus, when they saw the earthquake, and the things that were done, feared exceedingly, saying, Truly this was [v]the Son of God. 55 And many women were there beholding from afar, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him: 56 among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of [w]James and Joses, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.

57 And when even was come, there came a rich man from Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus’ disciple: 58 this man went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded it to be given up. 59 And Joseph took the body, and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, and departed. 61 And Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.

62 Now on the morrow, which is the day after the Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees were gathered together unto Pilate, 63 saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said while he was yet alive, After three days I rise again. 64 Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest haply his disciples come and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: and the last error will be worse than the first. 65 Pilate said unto them, [x]Ye have a guard: go, [y]make it as sure as ye can. 66 So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, the guard being with them.
