Visita de los sabios
2 Después de que Jesús nació en Belén de Judea en tiempos del rey Herodes, llegaron a Jerusalén unos sabios[a] procedentes del Oriente.
2 —¿Dónde está el que ha nacido rey de los judíos? —preguntaron—. Vimos levantarse[b] su estrella y hemos venido a adorarlo.
3 Cuando lo oyó, el rey Herodes se turbó y toda Jerusalén con él. 4 Así que convocó a todos los jefes de los sacerdotes y maestros de la Ley de su pueblo para preguntarles dónde había de nacer el Cristo.
5 —En Belén de Judea —le respondieron—, porque esto es lo que ha escrito el profeta:
6 “Pero tú, Belén, en la tierra de Judá,
de ninguna manera eres la menor entre las principales ciudades de Judá;
porque de ti saldrá un príncipe
que será el pastor de mi pueblo Israel”.[c]
7 Luego Herodes llamó en secreto a los sabios y se enteró por ellos del tiempo exacto en que había aparecido la estrella. 8 Los envió a Belén y les dijo:
—Vayan e infórmense bien de ese niño y tan pronto como lo encuentren, avísenme para que yo también vaya y lo adore.
9 Después de oír al rey, siguieron su camino. Sucedió que la estrella que habían visto levantarse iba delante de ellos hasta que se detuvo sobre el lugar donde estaba el niño. 10 Al ver la estrella, sintieron muchísima alegría. 11 Cuando llegaron a la casa, vieron al niño con María, su madre, y postrándose lo adoraron. Abrieron sus cofres y presentaron como regalos: oro, incienso y mirra. 12 Entonces, advertidos en sueños de que no volvieran a Herodes, regresaron a su tierra por otro camino.
La huida a Egipto
13 Cuando ya se habían ido, un ángel del Señor se apareció en sueños a José y dijo: «Levántate, toma al niño y a su madre, y huye a Egipto. Quédate allí hasta que yo te avise, porque Herodes va a buscar al niño para matarlo».
14 Así que se levantó cuando todavía era de noche, tomó al niño y a su madre y partió para Egipto, 15 donde permaneció hasta la muerte de Herodes. De este modo se cumplió lo que el Señor había dicho por medio del profeta: «De Egipto llamé a mi hijo».[d]
16 Cuando Herodes se dio cuenta de que los sabios se habían burlado de él, se enfureció y mandó a matar a todos los niños menores de dos años en Belén y en sus alrededores, de acuerdo con el tiempo que había averiguado de los sabios. 17 Entonces se cumplió lo dicho por el profeta Jeremías:
18 «Se oye un grito en Ramá,
llanto y gran lamentación.
Es Raquel que llora por sus hijos
y no quiere ser consolada.
¡Sus hijos ya no existen!».[e]
El regreso a Israel
19 Después que murió Herodes, un ángel del Señor se apareció en sueños a José en Egipto 20 y le dijo: «Levántate, toma al niño y a su madre, y vete a la tierra de Israel, pues ya murieron los que amenazaban con quitarle la vida al niño».
21 Así que se levantó José, tomó al niño y a su madre, y regresó a la tierra de Israel. 22 Pero al oír que Arquelao reinaba en Judea en lugar de su padre Herodes, tuvo miedo de ir allá. Advertido por Dios en sueños, se retiró al distrito de Galilea 23 y fue a vivir en un pueblo llamado Nazaret. Con esto se cumplió lo dicho por los profetas: «Lo llamarán Nazareno».

2 A mikor pedig megszületik vala Jézus a júdeai Bethlehemben, Heródes király idejében, ímé napkeletrõl bölcsek jövének Jeruzsálembe, ezt mondván:
2 Hol van a zsidók királya, a ki megszületett? Mert láttuk az õ csillagát napkeleten, és azért jövénk, hogy tisztességet tegyünk néki.
3 Heródes király pedig ezt hallván, megháborodék, és vele együtt az egész Jeruzsálem.
4 És egybegyûjtve minden fõpapot és a nép írástudóit, tudakozódik vala tõlük, hol kell a Krisztusnak megszületnie?
5 Azok pedig mondának néki: A júdeai Bethlehemben; mert így írta vala meg a próféta:
6 És te Bethlehem, Júdának földje, semmiképen sem vagy legkisebb Júda fejedelmi városai között: mert belõled származik a fejedelem, a ki legeltetni fogja az én népemet, az Izráelt.
7 Ekkor Heródes titkon hivatván a bölcseket, szorgalmatosan megtudakolá tõlük a csillag megjelenésének idejét.
8 És elküldvén õket Bethlehembe, monda nékik: Elmenvén, szorgalmatosan kérdezõsködjetek a gyermek felõl, mihelyt pedig megtaláljátok, adjátok tudtomra, hogy én is elmenjek és tisztességet tegyek néki.
9 Õk pedig a király beszédét meghallván, elindulának. És ímé a csillag, a melyet napkeleten láttak, elõttük megy vala mind addig, a míg odaérvén, megálla a hely fölött, a hol a gyermek vala.
10 És mikor meglátták a csillagot, igen nagy örömmel örvendezének.
11 És bemenvén a házba, ott találák a gyermeket anyjával, Máriával; és leborulván, tisztességet tõnek néki; és kincseiket kitárván, ajándékokat adának néki: aranyat, tömjént és mirhát.
12 És mivel álomban meginttettek, hogy Heródeshez vissza ne menjenek, más úton térének vissza hazájokba.
13 Mikor pedig azok visszatérnek vala, ímé megjelenék az Úrnak angyala Józsefnek álomban, és monda: Kelj fel, vedd a gyermeket és annak anyját, és fuss Égyiptomba, és maradj ott, a míg én mondom néked; mert Heródes halálra fogja keresni a gyermeket.
14 Õ pedig fölkelvén, vevé a gyermeket és annak anyját éjjel, és Égyiptomba távozék.
15 És ott vala egész a Heródes haláláig, hogy beteljesedjék, a mit az Úr mondott a próféta által, a ki így szólt: Égyiptomból hívtam ki az én fiamat.
16 Ekkor Heródes látván, hogy a bölcsek megcsúfolták õt, szerfölött felháborodék, és kiküldvén, megölete Bethlehemben és annak egész környékén minden gyermeket, két esztendõstõl és azon alól, az idõ szerint, a melyet szorgalmasan tudakolt a bölcsektõl.
17 Ekkor teljesedék be, a mit Jeremiás próféta mondott, a midõn így szólt:
18 Szó hallatszott Rámában: Sírás-rívás és sok keserves jajgatás. Rákhel siratta az õ fiait és nem akart megvigasztaltatni, mert nincsenek.
19 Mikor pedig Heródes meghalt, ímé az Úrnak angyala megjelenék álomban Józsefnek Égyiptomban.
20 Mondván: Kelj fel, vedd a gyermeket és annak anyját, és eredj az Izráel földére; mert meghaltak, a kik a gyermeket halálra keresik vala.
21 Õ pedig felkelvén, magához vevé a gyermeket és annak anyját, és elméne Izráel földére.
22 Mikor pedig hallá, hogy Júdeában Arkhelaus uralkodik, Heródesnek, az õ atyjának helyén, nem mert vala oda menni, hanem minthogy álomban meginteték, Galilea vidékeire tére.
23 És oda jutván, lakozék Názáret nevû városban, hogy beteljesedjék, a mit a próféták mondottak, hogy názáretinek fog neveztetni.

2 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
5 And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,
6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
7 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.
12 And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
14 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:
15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.
17 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying,
18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
19 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
20 Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life.
21 And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
22 But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:
23 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.
