2 Después de que Jesús nació en Belén de Judea en tiempos del rey Herodes, llegaron a Jerusalén unos sabios[a] procedentes del Oriente.
2 —¿Dónde está el que ha nacido rey de los judíos? —preguntaron—. Vimos levantarse[b] su estrella y hemos venido a adorarlo.
3 Cuando lo oyó, el rey Herodes se turbó y toda Jerusalén con él. 4 Así que convocó a todos los jefes de los sacerdotes y maestros de la Ley de su pueblo para preguntarles dónde había de nacer el Cristo.
5 —En Belén de Judea —le respondieron—, porque esto es lo que ha escrito el profeta:
6 “Pero tú, Belén, en la tierra de Judá,
de ninguna manera eres la menor entre las principales ciudades de Judá;
porque de ti saldrá un príncipe
que será el pastor de mi pueblo Israel”.[c]
7 Luego Herodes llamó en secreto a los sabios y se enteró por ellos del tiempo exacto en que había aparecido la estrella. 8 Los envió a Belén y les dijo:
—Vayan e infórmense bien de ese niño y tan pronto como lo encuentren, avísenme para que yo también vaya y lo adore.
9 Después de oír al rey, siguieron su camino. Sucedió que la estrella que habían visto levantarse iba delante de ellos hasta que se detuvo sobre el lugar donde estaba el niño. 10 Al ver la estrella, sintieron muchísima alegría. 11 Cuando llegaron a la casa, vieron al niño con María, su madre, y postrándose lo adoraron. Abrieron sus cofres y presentaron como regalos: oro, incienso y mirra. 12 Entonces, advertidos en sueños de que no volvieran a Herodes, regresaron a su tierra por otro camino.
La huida a Egipto
13 Cuando ya se habían ido, un ángel del Señor se apareció en sueños a José y dijo: «Levántate, toma al niño y a su madre, y huye a Egipto. Quédate allí hasta que yo te avise, porque Herodes va a buscar al niño para matarlo».
14 Así que se levantó cuando todavía era de noche, tomó al niño y a su madre y partió para Egipto, 15 donde permaneció hasta la muerte de Herodes. De este modo se cumplió lo que el Señor había dicho por medio del profeta: «De Egipto llamé a mi hijo».[d]
16 Cuando Herodes se dio cuenta de que los sabios se habían burlado de él, se enfureció y mandó a matar a todos los niños menores de dos años en Belén y en sus alrededores, de acuerdo con el tiempo que había averiguado de los sabios. 17 Entonces se cumplió lo dicho por el profeta Jeremías:
18 «Se oye un grito en Ramá,
llanto y gran lamentación.
Es Raquel que llora por sus hijos
y no quiere ser consolada.
¡Sus hijos ya no existen!».[e]
El regreso a Israel
19 Después que murió Herodes, un ángel del Señor se apareció en sueños a José en Egipto 20 y le dijo: «Levántate, toma al niño y a su madre, y vete a la tierra de Israel, pues ya murieron los que amenazaban con quitarle la vida al niño».
21 Así que se levantó José, tomó al niño y a su madre, y regresó a la tierra de Israel. 22 Pero al oír que Arquelao reinaba en Judea en lugar de su padre Herodes, tuvo miedo de ir allá. Advertido por Dios en sueños, se retiró al distrito de Galilea 23 y fue a vivir en un pueblo llamado Nazaret. Con esto se cumplió lo dicho por los profetas: «Lo llamarán Nazareno».

Восточные мудрецы
2 Исо родился в иудейском городе Вифлееме во времена правления царя Ирода[a]. После рождения Исо в Иерусалим пришли мудрецы с востока[b].
Они спрашивали людей:
2 – Где новорождённый Царь иудеев? Мы видели Его звезду на востоке[c] и пришли поклониться Ему.
3 Услышав об этом, царь Ирод встревожился, а с ним и весь Иерусалим. 4 Царь созвал к себе всех главных священнослужителей и учителей Таврота и спросил их, где должен родиться обещанный Масех.
5 – В иудейском Вифлееме, – ответили ему, – потому что так написано у пророка:
6 «И ты, Вифлеем в земле Иудеи,
ты вовсе не наименьший среди главных городов Иудеи,
потому что из тебя произойдёт Правитель,
Который будет пасти народ Мой, Исроил!»[d]
7 Тогда Ирод тайно пригласил к себе мудрецов и узнал у них точное время появления звезды. 8 Он послал их в Вифлеем с наказом:
– Идите и тщательно всё разузнайте о младенце. Когда вы Его найдёте, известите и меня, чтобы я смог пойти и поклониться Ему.
9 Выслушав наказ царя, мудрецы отправились в путь. Звезда, которую они видели на востоке,[e] шла впереди них, пока наконец не остановилась над местом, где был младенец. 10 Увидев звезду, мудрецы очень сильно обрадовались. 11 Когда они вошли в дом и увидели младенца и Его мать Марьям, они, павши, поклонились Ему и, открыв свои сокровища, поднесли Ему подарки: золото, ладан[f] и смирну[g]. 12 Ночью во сне они были предупреждены о том, что им нельзя возвращаться к Ироду, и вернулись в свою страну другим путём.
Бегство в Египет
13 Когда мудрецы ушли, Юсуфу во сне явился ангел от Вечного и сказал:
– Вставай, возьми младенца и Его мать и беги с ними в Египет. Оставайтесь там, пока я не скажу, потому что Ирод собирается найти младенца и убить Его.
14 Юсуф взял младенца с Его матерью, и ночью они ушли в Египет. 15 Там они оставались до тех пор, пока Ирод не умер. Так исполнились слова, которые Вечный сказал (об Исроиле) через пророка: «Из Египта призвал Я Сына Моего»[h].
16 Когда Ирод понял, что мудрецы его обманули, он пришёл в ярость и приказал убить в Вифлееме и его окрестностях всех мальчиков в возрасте до двух лет. Время рождения ребёнка он определил со слов мудрецов. 17 Таким образом исполнилось предсказанное через пророка Иеремию:
18 «Голос слышен в Раме,
вопль и горькое рыдание, –
это Рахиля плачет о детях своих
и не находит утешения,
потому что их больше нет!»[i]
Возвращение в Назарет
19 После смерти Ирода Юсуфу в Египте явился во сне ангел от Вечного.
20 – Вставай, – сказал он, – возьми младенца и Его мать и возвращайтесь в Исроил. Тех, кто хотел убить мальчика, уже нет в живых.
21 Юсуф взял младенца и Его мать, и они отправились в землю Исроила. 22 Когда Юсуф узнал, что в Иудее вместо Ирода царствует его сын Архелай, он побоялся возвращаться, но, получив во сне ещё одно указание, пошёл в Галилею 23 и поселился там в городе Назарете. Так исполнились слова пророков, что Масеха будут называть назарянином.[j]

The Magi Visit the Messiah
2 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea,(A) during the time of King Herod,(B) Magi[a] from the east came to Jerusalem 2 and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?(C) We saw his star(D) when it rose and have come to worship him.”
3 When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born. 5 “In Bethlehem(E) in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written:
6 “‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,
are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;
for out of you will come a ruler
who will shepherd my people Israel.’[b]”(F)
7 Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. 8 He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.”
9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him.(G) Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts(H) of gold, frankincense and myrrh. 12 And having been warned(I) in a dream(J) not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.
The Escape to Egypt
13 When they had gone, an angel(K) of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream.(L) “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”(M)
14 So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, 15 where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled(N) what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called my son.”[c](O)
16 When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. 17 Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:(P)
18 “A voice is heard in Ramah,
weeping and great mourning,
Rachel(Q) weeping for her children
and refusing to be comforted,
because they are no more.”[d](R)
The Return to Nazareth
19 After Herod died, an angel(S) of the Lord appeared in a dream(T) to Joseph in Egypt 20 and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child’s life are dead.”(U)
21 So he got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel. 22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream,(V) he withdrew to the district of Galilee,(W) 23 and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth.(X) So was fulfilled(Y) what was said through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene.(Z)

5 And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,
6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
7 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.
12 And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
14 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:
15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.
17 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying,
18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
19 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
20 Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life.
21 And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
22 But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:
23 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.
