Vindecarea unui bolnav de lepră
8 Când a coborât Isus de pe munte, mulţimile L-au urmat. 2 Şi iată că un lepros[a] a venit la El, I s-a închinat şi I-a zis:
– Doamne, dacă vrei, poţi să mă curăţeşti[b]!
3 Isus a întins mâna, l-a atins şi i-a zis:
– Da, vreau. Fii curăţit!
Şi imediat a fost curăţit de lepra lui. 4 Isus i-a zis:
– Vezi să nu spui nimănui, ci du-te să te arăţi preotului şi adu darul pe care l-a poruncit Moise[c], ca mărturie pentru ei!
Credinţa centurionului[d]
5 Când a intrat Isus în Capernaum, a venit la El un centurion[e] care L-a rugat 6 şi I-a zis astfel:
– Doamne, slujitorul meu zace paralizat în casă şi se chinuie cumplit!
7 Isus i-a zis:
– Voi veni şi-l voi vindeca.
8 Dar centurionul a răspuns:
– Doamne, nu sunt vrednic să intri sub acoperişul meu, ci spune doar un cuvânt şi slujitorul meu va fi vindecat! 9 Căci şi eu, la rândul meu, sunt un om sub autoritate şi am şi eu soldaţi în subordinea mea. Când îi spun unuia: „Du-te!“, el se duce, iar când îi spun altuia: „Vino!“, el vine. De asemenea, când îi spun sclavului meu: „Fă cutare lucru!“, el îl face.
10 Isus s-a mirat când l-a auzit şi le-a zis celor ce erau cu El:
– Adevărat vă spun că nici chiar în Israel n-am găsit pe cineva cu o credinţă aşa de mare! 11 Şi vă spun că vor veni mulţi de la răsărit şi de la apus şi se vor aşeza la masă cu Avraam, Isaac şi Iacov în Împărăţia Cerurilor. 12 Dar fiii Împărăţiei vor fi aruncaţi în întunericul de afară. Acolo va fi plânsul şi scrâşnirea dinţilor!
13 Apoi Isus i-a zis centurionului:
– Du-te! Facă-ţi-se după cum ai crezut!
Şi slujitorul acestuia a fost vindecat chiar în ceasul acela.
Isus vindecă mai mulţi bolnavi
14 Isus a intrat apoi în casa lui Petru şi a văzut-o pe soacra acestuia zăcând la pat şi având febră. 15 El i-a atins mâna şi febra a lăsat-o, iar ea s-a ridicat şi a început să-I slujească.
16 Seara, au adus la Isus mulţi demoniaci, iar El a alungat duhurile prin cuvântul Lui şi i-a vindecat pe toţi bolnavii, 17 ca să se împlinească ce a fost spus prin profetul Isaia, care zice:
„El a luat asupra Lui neputinţele noastre
şi a purtat bolile noastre“[f].
Preţul urmării lui Isus
18 Când a văzut Isus mulţimea din jurul Lui, le-a poruncit ucenicilor să treacă de cealaltă parte a mării. 19 Chiar atunci a venit la El un cărturar şi I-a zis:
– Învăţătorule, Te voi urma oriunde vei merge!
20 Isus i-a răspuns:
– Vulpile au vizuini şi păsările cerului au cuiburi, dar Fiul Omului[g] nu are unde să-Şi odihnească capul.
21 Un altul dintre ucenicii Săi I-a zis:
– Doamne, dă-mi voie mai întâi să mă duc să-l înmormântez pe tatăl meu![h]
22 Isus i-a răspuns:
– Urmează-Mă şi lasă morţii să-şi îngroape morţii!
Isus linişteşte furtuna
23 Apoi S-a suit în barcă, iar ucenicii Săi L-au urmat. 24 Şi iată că pe mare s-a stârnit deodată o furtună atât de puternică, încât barca a fost acoperită de valuri.[i] Isus dormea. 25 Ucenicii au venit la El şi L-au trezit, spunându-I:
– Doamne, scapă-ne, căci pierim!
26 Însă Isus le-a zis:
– De ce sunteţi atât de fricoşi, puţin credincioşilor?
Apoi s-a sculat, a mustrat vânturile şi marea şi s-a făcut o linişte mare. 27 Oamenii au rămas uimiţi şi au zis: „Ce fel de Om este Acesta, de-L ascultă până şi vânturile şi marea?“[j]
Isus vindecă doi gadareni demoniaci
28 Când a ajuns de cealaltă parte a mării, în ţinutul gadarenilor[k], L-au întâlnit doi demoniaci, care ieşeau din morminte. Erau atât de cumpliţi, încât nimeni nu putea să treacă pe drumul acela. 29 Şi iată că ei au început să strige:
– Ce avem noi de-a face cu Tine, Fiule al lui Dumnezeu? Ai venit aici să ne chinui înainte de vreme?
30 Ceva mai departe de ei, păştea o turmă mare de porci. 31 Demonii L-au rugat:
– Dacă ne scoţi afară, trimite-ne în turma aceea de porci!
32 El le-a zis:
– Duceţi-vă.
Ei au ieşit afară şi au intrat în porci. Şi deodată întreaga turmă s-a repezit pe râpă în jos, în apă[l], şi s-a înecat. 33 Porcarii au fugit, s-au dus în cetate şi au povestit totul, inclusiv ceea ce s-a întâmplat cu cei demoniaci. 34 Şi iată că toţi cei din cetate au ieşit să-L întâlnească pe Isus. Când L-au văzut, L-au rugat să plece din regiunea lor.

Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy(A)
8 When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. 2 A man with leprosy[a](B) came and knelt before him(C) and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”
3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. 4 Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone.(D) But go, show yourself to the priest(E) and offer the gift Moses commanded,(F) as a testimony to them.”
The Faith of the Centurion(G)
5 When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. 6 “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed,(H) suffering terribly.”
7 Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?”
8 The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.(I) 9 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.(J) 11 I say to you that many will come from the east and the west,(K) and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.(L) 12 But the subjects of the kingdom(M) will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”(N)
13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.”(O) And his servant was healed at that moment.
Jesus Heals Many(P)
14 When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. 15 He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him.
16 When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.(Q) 17 This was to fulfill(R) what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
The Cost of Following Jesus(T)
18 When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake.(U) 19 Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”
20 Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man(V) has no place to lay his head.”
21 Another disciple said to him, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”
22 But Jesus told him, “Follow me,(W) and let the dead bury their own dead.”
Jesus Calms the Storm(X)(Y)
23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
26 He replied, “You of little faith,(Z) why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.(AA)
27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
Jesus Restores Two Demon-Possessed Men(AB)
28 When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes,[c] two demon-possessed(AC) men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. 29 “What do you want with us,(AD) Son of God?” they shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?”(AE)
30 Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding. 31 The demons begged Jesus, “If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.”
32 He said to them, “Go!” So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water. 33 Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men. 34 Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.(AF)
