Yooxanaa Baabtiisaha Iyo Farriintii Uu Waday(A)
3 Maalmahaas waxaa yimid Yooxanaa Baabtiisaha isagoo cidlada Yahuudiya wax ku wacdiyaya, oo leh, 2 Toobadkeena, waayo, boqortooyadii jannadu waa dhow dahay. 3 Waayo, kan waa kii nebi Isayos ka hadlay kolkuu yidhi,
Waa codka kan cidlada kaga qaylinaya,
Jidka Rabbiga hagaajiya,
Waddooyinkiisa toosiya.
4 Yooxanaa qudhiisu wuxuu guntanaa dharkiisii dhogorta geel ahaa, oo suun meged ahna dhexduu ku xidhnaa, cuntadiisuna waxay ahayd ayax iyo malab dibadeed. 5 Markaas waxaa u soo baxay dadka Yeruusaalem, iyo kuwa Yahuudiya oo dhan iyo kuwa dalka Urdun ku wareegsan oo dhan, 6 markaasuu Webi Urdun ku baabtiisay iyagoo dembiyadooda qiranaya.
7 Laakiin goortuu arkay qaar badan oo Farrisiin iyo Sadukiin ah oo baabtiiskiisa yimid wuxuu ku yidhi, Dhal jilbisay, yaa idiinka digay inaad ka carartaan cadhada imanaysa? 8 Haddaba midho toobad istaahila soo bixiya, 9 hana ku fikirina inaad tidhaahdaan, Waxaannu leennahay Ibraahim oo aabbe noo ah. Waayo, waxaan idinku leeyahay, Ilaah waa karaa inuu dhagaxyadan carruur uga kiciyo Ibraahim. 10 Haddeer weliba faaska waxaa la dhigay geedaha guntooda. Sidaa darteed geed walba oo aan midho wanaagsan soo bixin waa la gooyaa oo dabkaa lagu tuuraa. 11 Anigu biyo ayaan idinku baabtiisaa ilaa toobadda, laakiin kan iga daba imanayaa waa iga itaal weyn yahay, kan aanan istaahilin inaan kabihiisa u qaado. Isagu wuxuu idinku baabtiisi doonaa Ruuxa Quduuska ah iyo dab. 12 Masaftiisu gacantiisay ku jirtaa, goobta wax lagu tumona aad buu u safayn doonaa, oo sarreenkiisa ayuu maqsinka ku soo ururin doonaa, laakiin buunshaha ayuu dab aan damayn ku gubi doonaa.

John the Baptist Prepares the Way(A)
3 In those days John the Baptist(B) came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea 2 and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven(C) has come near.” 3 This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:
“A voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’”[a](D)
4 John’s(E) clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist.(F) His food was locusts(G) and wild honey. 5 People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordan. 6 Confessing their sins, they were baptized(H) by him in the Jordan River.
7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: “You brood of vipers!(I) Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?(J) 8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.(K) 9 And do not think you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’(L) I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. 10 The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.(M)
11 “I baptize you with[b] water for repentance.(N) But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with[c] the Holy Spirit(O) and fire.(P) 12 His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”(Q)

4 Waxaa yimid Yooxanaa kan cidlada dadka ku baabtiisayay oo ku wacdiyeyey baabtiiskii toobadda dembidhaafka aawadiis. 5 Markaasaa waxaa u soo baxay dadkii Yahuudiya oo dhan iyo kuwii Yeruusaalem oo dhan, oo kulligoodna Webi Urdun ayuu ku baabtiisay, iyagoo dembiyadooda qiranaya. 6 Yooxanaa wuxuu guntanaa dharkiisii dhogorta geel ahaa, oo suun meged ahna dhexduu ku xidhnaa, oo wuxuu cunay ayax iyo malab dibadeed. 7 Oo wax buu wacdiyey oo yidhi, Waxaa iga daba imanaya ku iga itaal weyn, kan aanan istaahilin inaan foororsado oo aan yeelmihii kabihiisa furo. 8 Anigu waxaan idinku baabtiisay biyo, isaguse wuxuu idinku baabtiisi doonaa Ruuxa Quduuska ah.

John the Baptist Prepares the Way(A)
1 The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah,[a] the Son of God,[b](B) 2 as it is written in Isaiah the prophet:
“I will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way”[c](C)—
3 “a voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’”[d](D)
4 And so John the Baptist(E) appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance(F) for the forgiveness of sins.(G) 5 The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. 6 John wore clothing made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist,(H) and he ate locusts(I) and wild honey. 7 And this was his message: “After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie.(J) 8 I baptize you with[e] water, but he will baptize you with[f] the Holy Spirit.”(K)
