2 (A)Yesu bwe yazaalibwa mu kibuga Besirekemu eky’omu Buyudaaya, ku mulembe gwa Kabaka Kerode, abasajja abagezigezi, abaava ebuvanjuba ne bajja mu Yerusaalemi, nga babuuza nti, 2 (B)“Aliwa eyazaalibwa nga Kabaka w’Abayudaaya? Kubanga twalaba emmunyeenye ye nga tuli mu buvanjuba, era tuzze okumusinza.”
3 Awo Kabaka Kerode bwe yabiwulira ne bimweraliikiriza nnyo, era ne bonna abaali mu Yerusaalemi. 4 N’ayita bakabona abakulu bonna n’abawandiisi b’amateeka n’abeebuuzaako ekifo Kristo gye yali agenda okuzaalibwa. 5 (C)Ne bamuddamu nti, “Mu Besirekemu eky’omu Buyudaaya, kyawandiikibwa nnabbi nti,
6 (D)“ ‘Naawe Besirekemu ekya Yuda,
toli mutono mu balangira ba Yuda,
kubanga omufuzi aliva mu ggwe,
alifuga abantu bange Isirayiri.’ ”
7 Awo Kerode n’atumya Abagezigezi kyama, n’ababuuza ebiro emmunyeenye bye yalabikiramu. 8 N’abasindika e Besirekemu ng’agamba nti, “Mugende mubuulirize ebikwata ku mwana. Bwe mumulaba, mukomeewo muntegeeze, nange ŋŋende musinze!”
9 Bwe baamala okuwulira Kabaka bye yabagamba ne bagenda. Bwe baafuluma, emmunyeenye eri gye baalaba ebuvanjuba n’eddamu okubalabikira n’okubakulembera, okutuusa lwe yayimirira waggulu Omwana w’ali. 10 Bwe baalaba emmunyeenye ng’eyimiridde, essanyu lyabwe ne libeera lingi nnyo! 11 (E)Bwe baayingira mu nnyumba[a] ne balaba Omwana ne Maliyamu nnyina ne bavuunama ne basinza Omwana. Ne basumulula ensawo zaabwe, ne bamutonera ebirabo, zaabu, n’obubaane n’omugavu. 12 (F)Awo bwe baalabulibwa mu kirooto baleme kuddayo wa Kerode, bwe batyo ne baddayo ewaabwe nga bayita mu kkubo eddala.

13 (G)Awo abagezigezi bwe baamala okugenda, malayika wa Mukama n’alabikira Yusufu mu kirooto n’amugamba nti, “Golokoka oddusize Omwana ne nnyina e Misiri, mubeere eyo okutuusa lwe ndibalagira okudda. Kubanga Kerode ajja kunoonya Omwana ng’ayagala okumutta.” 14 Ekiro ekyo n’asituka n’atwala Omwana ne nnyina e Misiri. 15 (H)Ne babeera eyo okutuusa Kerode bwe yafa. Mukama kye yayogerera mu nnabbi we ne kituukirira, bwe yagamba nti:
“Nayita Omwana wange okuva mu Misiri.”

16 Kerode bwe yalaba ng’Abagezigezi banyoomye ekiragiro kye, n’asunguwala nnyo, n’atuma abaserikale e Besirekemu ne mu byalo byakyo batte abaana bonna aboobulenzi ab’emyaka ebiri n’abatannagiweza, ng’asinziira ku bbanga abagezigezi lye baali bamutegeezeza mwe baalabira emmunyeenye. 17 Awo ekigambo nnabbi Yeremiya kye yayogera ne kiryoka kituukirira ng’agamba nti,
18 (I)“Eddoboozi lyawulirwa mu Laama,
okukuba emiranga n’okukungubaga okunene,
nga Laakeeri akaabira abaana be,
nga tewakyali asobola kumuwooyawooya,
kubanga bonna baweddewo.”

19 (J)Kerode bwe yamala okufa malayika wa Mukama n’alabikira Yusufu mu kirooto e Misiri, 20 n’amugamba nti, “Golokoka ozzeeyo Omwana ne nnyina mu Isirayiri, kubanga abaali baagala okutta Omwana bafudde.”
21 Yusufu n’asitukiramu n’azzaayo Omwana ne nnyina mu nsi ya Isirayiri. 22 (K)Naye bwe yatuuka mu kkubo n’atya nnyo bwe yawulira nga Alukerawo[b] mutabani wa Kerode ye yali alidde obwakabaka. Mukama n’amulabulira nate mu kirooto aleme kugenda Buyudaaya, bw’atyo n’alaga e Ggaliraaya 23 (L)n’atuuka mu kibuga ky’e Nazaaleesi, ne babeera omwo. Ebigambo bya bannabbi bye baayogera biryoke bituukirire nga bagamba nti: “Aliyitibwa Munnazaaleesi.”

ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ ଦେଖିବା ପାଇଁ ପଣ୍ଡିତମାନଙ୍କ ଆଗମନ
2 ହେରୋଦଙ୍କ[a] ରାଜତ୍ୱକାଳରେ ଯିହୂଦା ରାଜ୍ୟର ବେଥ୍ଲେହିମ ନଗରରେ ଯୀଶୁ ଜନ୍ମ ହେଲେ। ଯୀଶୁ ଜନ୍ମ ହେବା ପରେ ପୂର୍ବ ଦେଶର କେତେକ ପଣ୍ଡିତ ଯିରୁଶାଲମକୁ ଆସିଲେ। 2 ସେମାନେ ପଗ୍ଭରିଲେ, “ଯିହୂଦୀମାନଙ୍କର ରାଜା ସେହି ନବଜାତ ଶିଶୁ କେଉଁଠାରେ? କାରଣ ଆମ୍ଭେ ପୂର୍ବ ଦେଶରେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ତାରା ଉଠିଥିବାର ଦେଖିଲୁ। ସେହି ତାରା ପ୍ରକାଶ କରେ ଯେ, ସେ ଜନ୍ମ ହୋଇଛନ୍ତି, ତେଣୁ ଆମ୍ଭେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରଣାମ କରିବାକୁ ଆସିଛୁ।”
3 ରାଜା ହେରୋଦ ଯିହୂଦୀମାନଙ୍କର ଏହି ନୂଆ ରାଜାଙ୍କ କଥା ଶୁଣିଲେ, ସେଥିପାଇଁ ସେ ଉଦ୍ବିଗ୍ନ ହେଲେ। ଯିରୁଶାଲମର ସବୁ ଲୋକ ମଧ୍ୟ ଚିନ୍ତିତ ହୋଇ ପଡ଼ିଲେ। 4 ହେରୋଦ ଯିହୂଦା ସମାଜର ସମସ୍ତ ପ୍ରମୁଖ ଯାଜକ ଏବଂ ଧର୍ମଶାସ୍ତ୍ରୀମାନଙ୍କର ଗୋଟିଏ ବୈଠକ ଡାକିଲେ। ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ପଗ୍ଭରିଲେ, ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ କେଉଁଠାରେ ଜନ୍ମ ହେବେ? 5 ସେମାନେ କହିଲେ, “ଯିହୂଦା ପ୍ରଦେଶର ବେଥ୍ଲେହିମ ନଗରରେ। ଭବିଷ୍ୟଦ୍ବକ୍ତାଙ୍କ ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରରେ ଏସମ୍ପର୍କରେ ଲେଖିଛନ୍ତି:
6 ‘ହେ ଯିହୂଦା ପ୍ରଦେଶର ବେଥ୍ଲେହିମ!
ଯିହୂଦାର ଶାସକମାନଙ୍କ ଭିତରେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମହାନ।
ହଁ, ତୁମ୍ଭରି ଭିତରୁ ଜଣେ ଶାସକ ଆଗତ ହେବ,
ଏବଂ ସେହି ଶାସକ ମୋର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲକୁ କଢ଼ାଇନେବେ।’”(A)
7 ତା'ପରେ ହେରୋଦ ପୂର୍ବଦେଶରୁ ଆସିଥିବା ପଣ୍ଡିତମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ଗୁପ୍ତ ବୈଠକ କଲେ। ସେମାନେ କେତେବେଳେ ପ୍ରଥମେ ସେହି ତାରା ଦେଖିଥିଲେ, ତାହାର ସଠିକ୍ ସମୟ ହେରୋଦ ପଣ୍ଡିତମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ ବୁଝିନେଲେ। 8 ହେରୋଦ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ବେଥ୍ଲେହିମ ପଠାଇଲେ ଓ କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ବେଥ୍ଲେହିମ ଯାଇ ଶିଶୁଟି ବିଷୟରେ ଯତ୍ନ ଭାବରେ ଖୋଜ ଖବର ନିଅ। ଯଦି ତୁମ୍ଭେ ତାକୁ ପାଇଯାଅ, ତେବେ ମୋତେ ଜଣାଅ, ତା'ପରେ ମୁଁ ମଧ୍ୟ ଯାଇ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରଣାମ କରିବି।”
9 ପଣ୍ଡିତମାନେ ରାଜାଙ୍କ କଥା ଶୁଣି ଗ୍ଭଲିଗଲେ। ଯେଉଁ ତାରାଟି ସେମାନେ ଆଗରୁ ପୂର୍ବ ଦେଶରେ ଦେଖିଥିଲେ, ପୁଣି ଥରେ ତାକୁ ଦେଖିଲେ। ସେହି ତାରାଟି ତାହାଙ୍କ ଆଗେ ଆଗେ ଗ୍ଭଲିଲା ଏବଂ ଯେଉଁଠାରେ ପିଲାଟି ଥିଲା, ସେହି ସ୍ଥାନ ଉପରେ ସ୍ଥିର ହୋଇ ରହିଗଲା। 10 ତାରା ଦେଖି ପଣ୍ଡିତମାନେ ବହୁତ ଖୁସୀ ହେଲେ ଏବଂ ଆନନ୍ଦରେ ପରିପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ହେଲେ।
11 ସେମାନେ ଘର ଭିତରକୁ ଗଲେ। ମା ମରିୟମଙ୍କ ପାଖରେ ପିଲାଟିକୁ ଦେଖିଲେ। ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଭୂମିଷ୍ଠ ପ୍ରଣାମ କରି ତାହାଙ୍କର ଉପାସନା କଲେ। ତା'ପରେ ସେମାନେ ଶିଶୁ ପାଇଁ ଆଣିଥିବା ଉପହାର ପେଡ଼ିଟି ଖୋଲିଲେ। ସେମାନେ ଶିଶୁକୁ ସୁନା, କୁନ୍ଦୁରୁ[b] ଓ ଗନ୍ଧରସ[c] ଉପହାର ଦେଲେ। 12 କିନ୍ତୁ ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ହେରୋଦଙ୍କ ପାଖକୁ ଫେରି ନ ଯିବାକୁ ସ୍ୱପ୍ନରେ ସାବଧାନ କରାଇ ଦେଲେ। ତେଣୁ ସେମାନେ ଅନ୍ୟ ଏକ ପଥ ଦେଇ ନିଜ ଦେଶକୁ ଫେରିଗଲେ।
ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ବାପା-ମାଆ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ମିଶରକୁ ନେଲେ
13 ପଣ୍ଡିତମାନେ ଗ୍ଭଲିଯିବାପରେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କର ଜଣେ ଦୂତ ସ୍ୱପ୍ନରେ ଯୋଷେଫଙ୍କୁ ଦର୍ଶନ ଦେଇ କହିଲେ, “ଉଠ, ଶିଶୁଟିକୁ ଓ ତା’ ମାଙ୍କୁ ନେଇ ମିଶର ଦେଶକୁ ପଳାଅ ଏବଂ ମୁଁ ନ କହିବା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସେଠାରେ ରୁହ। କାରଣ ହେରୋଦ ତାହାକୁ ମାରିଦେବା ପାଇଁ ଗ୍ଭହୁଁଥିବାରୁ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଖୋଜିବ।”
14 ତେଣୁ ଯୋଷେଫ ଉଠିଲେ, ସେ ଶିଶୁ ଓ ତା’ ମାଙ୍କୁ ଧରି ମିଶର ଦେଶକୁ ଯିବା ପାଇଁ ରାତିରେ ବାହାରି ପଡ଼ିଲେ। 15 ସେଠାରେ ଯୋଷେଫ ହେରୋଦଙ୍କ ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ରହିଲେ। ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ତାହାଙ୍କ ଭବିଷ୍ୟଦ୍ବକ୍ତାଙ୍କ ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ଯାହା କହିଥିଲେ, ତାହା ସଫଳ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଏସବୁ ଘଟିଲା। ପ୍ରଭୁ ପରମେଶ୍ୱର କହିଥିଲେ, “ମୁଁ ମୋର ପୁଅକୁ ମିଶରରୁ ବାହାରି ଆସିବାକୁ କହିଛି।”(B)
ହେରୋଦ ବେଥ୍ଲେହିମର ଶିଶୁ ପୁତ୍ରମାନଙ୍କୁ ହତ୍ୟା କଲେ
16 ହେରୋଦ ଦେଖିଲେ ଯେ, ପଣ୍ଡିତମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ବୋକା ବନେଇ ଦେଇଛନ୍ତି। ସେ ଖୁବ୍ ରାଗିଗଲେ। ସେ ପଣ୍ଡିତମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ ଶିଶୁପୁତ୍ରଟିର ଜନ୍ମ ସମୟ ଜାଣିଥିଲେ। ତାହା ଦୁଇ ବର୍ଷ ତଳର କଥା ହୋଇଥିବାରୁ ସେ ବେଥ୍ଲେହିମ ଓ ତା’ ଆଖପାଖ ଅଞ୍ଚଳର ଦୁଇ ବର୍ଷ ବା ତା'ଠାରୁ କମ୍ ବୟସର ସବୁ ଶିଶୁପୁତ୍ରଙ୍କୁ ହତ୍ୟା କରିବାକୁ ଆଦେଶ ଦେଲେ। 17 ଏହିଭଳି ଭାବରେ ଭବିଷ୍ୟଦ୍ବକ୍ତା ଯିରିମିୟଙ୍କ ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ କୁହାଯାଇଥିବା ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ୟ ସଫଳ ହେଲା:
18 “ରାମାରେ ଏକ ଦୁଃଖଭରା ସ୍ୱର ଶୁଣାଗଲା।
ତାହା ରୋଦନ ଓ ଅତିଶୟ ବିଳାପର ସ୍ୱର ଥିଲା।
ରାହେଲ ତା’ ପିଲାମାନଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ କାନ୍ଦୁଥିଲା।
କେହିହେଲେ ତାକୁ ସାନ୍ତ୍ୱନା ଦେଇ ପାରିବେନି।
କାରଣ ତା'ର ପିଲାମାନେ ମରିଯାଇଥିଲେ।”(C)
ଯୋଷେଫ ଓ ମରିୟମ ମିଶରରୁ ଫେରିଲେ
19 ହେରୋଦଙ୍କ ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ପରେ ମିଶରରେ ଯୋଷେଫଙ୍କୁ ସ୍ୱପ୍ନରେ ପ୍ରଭୁ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କର ଜଣେ ଦୂତ ଦେଖା ଦେଲେ। 20 ଦୂତ କହିଲେ, “ଉଠ, ପିଲାଟିକୁ ଓ ତା’ ମାକୁ ନେଇ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଦେଶକୁ ଯାଅ। କାରଣ ଯେଉଁମାନେ ପିଲାଟିକୁ ମାରିଦେବାକୁ ଚେଷ୍ଟା କରୁଥିଲେ, ସେମାନେ ଏବେ ମରିଗଲେଣି।”
21 ତେଣୁ ଯୋଷେଫ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ ହେଲେ, ସେ ପିଲାଟିକୁ ଓ ତା’ ମାକୁ ନେଇ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଫେରିଗଲେ। 22 କିନ୍ତୁ ଯୋଷେଫ ଶୁଣିଲେ ଯେ, ହେରୋଦଙ୍କ ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ପରେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ପୁଅ ଆର୍ଖିଲାୟ ଯିହୂଦାରେ ରାଜା ହୋଇଛନ୍ତି। ତେଣୁ ସେ ସେଠାକୁ ଯିବାକୁ ଭୟ କଲେ। କିନ୍ତୁ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କଠାରୁ ସ୍ୱପ୍ନରେ ଆଦେଶ ପାଇ ଯୋଷେଫ ଗାଲିଲୀ ପ୍ରଦେଶକୁ ଗଲେ। 23 ସେ ସେଠାରେ ପହଞ୍ଚି ନାଜରିତ ନାମକ ନଗରରେ ବାସ କଲେ। ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ ନାଜରିତୀୟ ରୂପେ ଖ୍ୟାତ ହେବେବୋଲି ଭବିଷ୍ୟଦ୍ବକ୍ତାମାନଙ୍କ ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱର କହିଥିଲେ। ସେହି ବାକ୍ୟ ଅନୁସାରେ ଏହା ଘଟିଲା।

Wise Men from the East
2 Now after (A)Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, [a]wise men (B)from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, (C)“Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen (D)His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”
3 When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 And when he had gathered all (E)the chief priests and (F)scribes of the people together, (G)he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.
5 So they said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet:
6 ‘But(H) you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,
Are not the least among the rulers of Judah;
For out of you shall come a Ruler
(I)Who will shepherd My people Israel.’ ”
7 Then Herod, when he had secretly called the [b]wise men, determined from them what time the (J)star appeared. 8 And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring back word to me, that I may come and worship Him also.”
9 When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. 10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. 11 And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, (K)they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
12 Then, being divinely warned (L)in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way.
The Flight into Egypt
13 Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.”
14 When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother by night and departed for Egypt, 15 and was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, (M)“Out of Egypt I called My Son.”
Massacre of the Innocents
16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men. 17 Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying:
18 “A (N)voice was heard in Ramah,
Lamentation, weeping, and great mourning,
Rachel weeping for her children,
Refusing to be comforted,
Because they are no more.”
The Home in Nazareth(O)
19 Now when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, 20 (P)saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who (Q)sought the young Child’s life are dead.” 21 Then he arose, took the young Child and His mother, and came into the land of Israel.
22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned by God in a (R)dream, he turned aside (S)into the region of Galilee. 23 And he came and dwelt in a city called (T)Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled (U)which was spoken by the prophets, “He shall be called a Nazarene.”
