¹⁷ For truly I say to you that ^(A)many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

^4 [a]By referring to this, when you read you can understand ^(A)my insight ^[b]into the ^(B)mystery of Christ, ⁵ which in other generations was not made known to ^[c]mankind, as it has now been revealed to His holy ^(C)apostles and prophets ^[d]in the Spirit;

⁴⁰ because God had ^[a]provided ^(A)something better for us, so that ^(B)apart from us they would not be made perfect.
