5 De Farizeeën en bijbelgeleerden vroegen aan Jezus: ‘Waarom trekken uw leerlingen zich niets aan van de traditie? Zij hebben voor het eten niet eens hun handen gewassen.’ 6 Hij antwoordde: ‘Huichelaars! De profeet Jesaja had gelijk toen hij zei: “Deze mensen eren God met de mond, maar in hun hart moeten zij niets van Hem hebben. 7 Hun godsdienst is waardeloos. Ze houden zich alleen maar bezig met menselijke wetten en niet met de wet van God.”

But their heart is far from Me.

Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’
