Människorna i Nasaret vägrar att tro
6 Efter denna händelse lämnade Jesus denna del av landet och återvände med sina lärjungar till sin hemstad Nasaret.
2-3 Nästa sabbatsdag gick han till synagogan för att undervisa, och många blev förvånade över hans visdom och de under han gjorde eftersom han ju bara var en nasaretbo precis som de.Inte är han väl bättre än vad vi är, sa de. Han är bara en vanlig snickare och son till Maria. Vi känner hans bröder Jakob, Josef, Judas och Simon, och hans systrar bor ju också här mitt ibland oss. Och de retade sig på honom.
4 Då sa Jesus till dem: Ingenstans ser man ner så mycket på en profet som i hans hemstad och bland hans släktingar och i hans egen familj.
5 Men eftersom folket i Nasaret inte trodde på Jesus så kunde han bara hjälpa några få sjuka där. På dem lade han händerna och de blev friska.
6 Och han förvånade sig över att man inte ville tro på honom.Sedan gick Jesus runt i byarna och undervisade.
Jesus sänder ut de tolv
7 Och han kallade till sig sina tolv apostlar och sände sedan ut dem två och två och gav dem makt att driva ut onda andar.
8-9 Han befallde dem att inte ta med sig något annat än en vandringsstav. De fick inte ta med någon mat, ingen väska, inga pengar, inte ens ett par extra skor eller kläder till ombyte.
10 Håll er till ett enda hem i varje by. Flytta inte runt från hus till hus medan ni är där, sa han.
11 Och när man i en by inte vill ta emot er eller lyssna till er, så gå därifrån och bekymra er inte mer för dessa människor. De måste själva stå till svars för sitt handlande.
12 Så gick lärjungarna sin väg. Överallt dit de kom uppmanade de folk att vända sig bort från synden.
13 Och de drev ut många onda andar och botade många sjuka och smorde dem med olivolja.
Herodes låter avrätta Johannes döparen
14 Jesus blev nu mer och mer känd och snart fick kung Herodes höra talas om honom, för överallt berättade man om de under han gjorde. Kungen trodde att Jesus var Johannes döparen som uppstått från de döda. Därför sa man: Det är inte konstigt att han kan göra sådana under.
15 Många trodde också att Jesus var den gamle profeten Elia, som återvänt till livet. Andra påstod att han var en ny profet, lik de stora profeter som levt för länge sedan.
16 Nej, sa Herodes, det är Johannes, den man som jag halshögg. Han har kommit tillbaka från de döda.
17-18 Herodes hade nämligen satt Johannes i fängelse eftersom hans fru Herodias ville det. Egentligen var hon hans bror Filippos fru från början, men Herodes hade gift sig med henne. Johannes hade, medan han ännu levde, sagt rent ut till Herodes: Det är inte rätt av dig att leva ihop med henne.
19 Därför hatade Herodias honom, och ville döda honom, men Herodes var emot det.
20 Han var innerst inne rädd för Johannes, för han visste att han var en god och rättfärdig man. Han hade visserligen spärrat in Johannes i fängelse, men trots att han kände oro inför honom lyssnade han gärna till honom.
21 Till slut kom Herodias chans. Herodes firade sin födelsedag och ställde då till med en fest för sitt hovfolk, officerarna och de förnämsta medborgarna i Galileen.
22-23 Medan festmiddagen pågick kom Herodias dotter in och dansade och gästerna och kungen blev alldeles begeistrade.Be mig om vad du vill, till och med hälften av mitt rike och jag ska ge det till dig, lovade kungen.
24 Hon gick då ut och frågade sin mor vad hon skulle be om. Be om Johannes döparens huvud! svarade hon.
25 Flickan skyndade sig tillbaka till kungen och sa till honom: Jag vill ha Johannes döparens huvud, nu med detsamma, på en bricka!
26 Kungen blev utom sig, men han skämdes för att bryta sitt löfte inför gästerna.
27 Därför gav han order till en av sina livvakter att gå och hämta Johannes huvud. Denne gick genast till fängelset och halshögg Johannes
28 och kom sedan tillbaka med huvudet på en bricka och gav det till flickan. Och hon gav det till sin mor.
29 När Johannes lärjungar hörde vad som hänt, kom de och hämtade hans kropp och begravde den.
Jesus ger mat åt fem tusen
30 De tolv som Jesus sänt ut kom nu tillbaka från sin vandring och berättade allt vad de hade gjort och vad de sagt till de människor de träffat.
31 Men eftersom det var så mycket folk runt omkring dem att de inte ens fick tid att äta, föreslog Jesus: Kom så drar vi oss undan till någon plats där vi kan vila oss.
32 De for därför iväg i en båt till ett lugnare ställe,
33 men många människor såg det och skyndade sig i förväg runt sjön och mötte dem när de steg i land på andra sidan.
34 När Jesus steg ur båten och såg allt folk som hade samlats kände han medlidande med dem, för de var som får utan herde. Därför tog han sig tid och undervisade dem om det som de behövde veta.
35-36 Fram emot kvällen kom lärjungarna till honom och sa: Det blir snart mörkt. Skicka därför iväg folket till byarna och gårdarna här i närheten så att de kan köpa mat, för det finns inget att äta här i ödemarken.
37 Men Jesus sa: Ni själva kan väl ge dem mat.Hur då? frågade lärjungarna. Det skulle kosta en förmögenhet att köpa mat till allihop.
38 Hur mycket mat har vi? frågade han. Gå och ta reda på det.När de kom tillbaka rapporterade de att det fanns fem bröd och två fiskar.
39-40 Jesus bad dem då att säga till människorna att sätta sig ner i det gröna gräset i grupper, en del på femtio och en del på hundra.
41 Han tog sedan de fem bröden och de två fiskarna och såg upp mot himlen och tackade Gud. Sedan bröt han bröden i bitar och gav varje lärjunge lite bröd och fisk, som de skulle ge vidare till folket.
42 Och alla åt och blev mätta.
43-44 Omkring fem tusen män var med vid denna måltid, och efteråt samlade man upp tolv korgar med rester, både bröd och fisk.
Jesus går på vattnet
45 Omedelbart därefter bad Jesus sina lärjungar att gå tillbaka till båten och fara över sjön till Betsaida, där han senare skulle möta dem. Själv stannade han kvar för att se till att folket gick hem.
46 Därefter gick han upp på ett berg för att be.
47 När det blev natt var lärjungarna med sin båt fortfarande långt ute på sjön. Jesus, som var ensam kvar på land,
48 såg hur de slet med årorna och kämpade mot vinden och vågorna.Vid tretiden på morgonen kom han gående ut till dem på vattnet, och för ett ögonblick såg det ut som om han tänkte gå förbi dem.
49 Då lärjungarna såg att någon rörde sig vid sidan av båten skrek de av rädsla, för de trodde att det var ett spöke.
50 Och allesammans såg honom och blev dödsförskräckta.Men i samma ögonblick talade han till dem: Det är ingen fara, sa han. Det är jag! Var inte rädda!
51 Sedan steg han i båten och vinden lade sig.Lärjungarna var fullständigt förbryllade och visste inte vad de skulle säga.
52 Det hade ännu inte gått upp för dem vem han var, inte ens efter undret kvällen innan då så många fick bröd att äta, för de hade svårt för att tro.
Jesus botar alla som rör vid honom
53 När de äntligen kom fram till Gennesaret på andra sidan sjön, lade de till med båten där.
54 Så snart de steg i land kände människorna igen Jesus,
55 och de sprang runt i hela området för att sprida nyheten att nu hade han kommit dit. Och de började bära sjuka människor till honom på mattor och bårar.
56 Och överallt dit han kom, till städer och byar på landsbygden, bar man ut de sjuka i det fria och tiggde och bad att de sjuka åtminstone skulle få röra vid tofsarna på hans kläder. Och alla som gjorde det blev friska.

6 And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.
2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
4 But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
7 And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;
8 And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:
9 But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.
10 And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.
11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent.
13 And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.
14 And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.
15 Others said, That it is Elias. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.
16 But when Herod heard thereof, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead.
17 For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her.
18 For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife.
19 Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:
20 For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.
21 And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee;
22 And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.
23 And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom.
24 And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.
25 And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.
26 And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.
27 And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison,
28 And brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the damsel: and the damsel gave it to her mother.
29 And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.
30 And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.
31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
32 And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.
33 And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran afoot thither out of all cities, and outwent them, and came together unto him.
34 And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.
35 And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed:
36 Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.
37 He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?
38 He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.
39 And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass.
40 And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties.
41 And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.
42 And they did all eat, and were filled.
43 And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.
44 And they that did eat of the loaves were about five thousand men.
45 And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.
46 And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.
47 And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land.
48 And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.
49 But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out:
50 For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.
51 And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.
52 For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.
53 And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.
54 And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him,
55 And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.
56 And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.

6 Jesus went away from there and came to His [own] country and hometown [Nazareth], and His disciples followed [with] Him.
2 And on the Sabbath He began to teach in the synagogue; and many who listened to Him were utterly astonished, saying, Where did this [a]Man acquire all this? What is the wisdom [the broad and full intelligence which has been] given to Him? What mighty works and exhibitions of power are wrought by His hands!
3 Is not this the Carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not His sisters here among us? And they took offense at Him and [b]were hurt [that is, they [c]disapproved of Him, and it hindered them from acknowledging His authority] and they were caused to stumble and fall.
4 But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor (deference, reverence) except in his [own] country and among [his] relatives and in his [own] house.
5 And He was not able to do [d]even one work of power there, except that He laid His hands on a few sickly people [and] cured them.
6 And He marveled because of their unbelief (their lack of faith in Him). And He went about among the surrounding villages and continued teaching.
7 And He called to Him the Twelve [apostles] and began to send them out [as His ambassadors] two by two and gave them authority and power over the unclean spirits.
8 He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a walking stick—no bread, [e]no wallet for a collection bag, no money in their belts (girdles, purses)—
9 But to go with sandals on their feet and not to put on two tunics (undergarments).
10 And He told them, Wherever you go into a house, stay there until you leave that place.
11 And if any community will not receive and accept and welcome you, and they refuse to listen to you, when you depart, shake off the dust that is on your feet, for a testimony against them. [f]Truly I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the judgment day than for that town.
12 So they went out and preached that men should repent [[g]that they should change their minds for the better and heartily amend their ways, with abhorrence of their past sins].
13 And they drove out many unclean spirits and anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.
14 King Herod heard of it, for [Jesus’] name had become well known. [h]He and they [of his court] said, John the Baptist has been raised from the dead; that is why these mighty powers [[i]of performing miracles] are at work in Him.
15 [But] others kept saying, It is Elijah! And others said, It is a prophet, like one of the prophets [of old].
16 But when Herod heard [of it], he said, [[j]This very] John, whom I beheaded, has been raised [from the dead].
17 For [this] Herod himself had sent and seized John and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, because he [Herod] had married her.
18 For John had told Herod, It is not lawful and you have no right to have your brother’s wife.
19 And Herodias was angry (enraged) with him and held a grudge against him and wanted to kill him; but she could not,
20 For Herod had [[k]a reverential] fear of John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and [continually] kept him safe [[l]under guard]. When he heard [John speak], he was much perplexed; and [yet] he heard him gladly.
21 But an opportune time came [for Herodias] when Herod on his birthday gave a banquet for his nobles and the high military commanders and chief men of Galilee.
22 For when the daughter [m]of Herodias herself came in and danced, she pleased and [n]fascinated Herod and his guests; and the king said to the girl, Ask me for whatever you desire, and I will give it to you.
23 And he put himself under oath to her, Whatever you ask me, I will give it to you, even to the half of my kingdom.(A)
24 Then she left the room and said to her mother, What shall I ask for [myself]? And she replied, The head of John the Baptist!
25 And she rushed back instantly to the king and requested, saying, I wish you to give me right now the head of John the Baptist on a platter.
26 And the king was deeply pained and grieved and exceedingly sorry, but because of his oaths and his guests, he did not want to slight her [by breaking faith with her].
27 And immediately the king sent off one [of the soldiers] of his bodyguard and gave him orders to bring [John’s] head. He went and beheaded him in the prison
28 And brought his head on a platter and handed it to the girl, and the girl gave it to her mother.
29 When his disciples learned of it, they came and took [John’s] body and laid it in a tomb.
30 The apostles [sent out as missionaries] came back and gathered together to Jesus, and told Him all that they had done and taught.
31 And He said to them, [[o]As for you] come away by yourselves to a deserted place, and rest a while—for many were [continually] coming and going, and they had not even leisure enough to eat.
32 And they went away in a boat to a solitary place by themselves.
33 Now many [people] saw them going and recognized them, and they ran there on foot from all the surrounding towns, and they got there ahead [of those in the boat].
34 As Jesus landed, He saw a great crowd waiting, and He was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and He began to teach them many things.
35 And when [p]the day was already far gone, His disciples came to Him and said, This is a desolate and isolated place, and the hour is now late.
36 Send the crowds away to go into the country and villages round about and buy themselves something to eat.
37 But He replied to them, Give them something to eat yourselves. And they said to Him, Shall we go and buy 200 [q]denarii [about forty dollars] worth of bread and give it to them to eat?(B)
38 And He said to them, How many loaves do you have? Go and see. And when they [had looked and] knew, they said, Five [loaves] and two fish.
39 Then He commanded the people all to recline on the green grass by companies.
40 So they threw themselves down in ranks of hundreds and fifties [with the [r]regularity of an arrangement of beds of herbs, looking [s]like so many garden plots].
41 And taking the five loaves and two fish, He looked up to heaven and, praising God, gave thanks and broke the loaves and kept on giving them to the disciples to set before the people; and He [also] divided the two fish among [them] all.
42 And they all ate and were satisfied.
43 And they took up twelve [[t]small hand] baskets full of broken pieces [from the loaves] and of the fish.
44 And those who ate the loaves were 5,000 men.
45 And at once He insisted that the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side to Bethsaida, while He was sending the throng away.
46 And after He had taken leave of them, He went off into the hills to pray.
47 Now when evening had come, the boat was out in the middle of the lake, and He was by Himself on the land.
48 And having seen that they were troubled and tormented in [their] rowing, for the wind was against them, about the fourth watch of the night [between 3:00-6:00 a.m.] He came to them, walking [directly] on the sea. And He acted as if He meant to pass by them,
49 But when they saw Him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and [u]raised a [deep, throaty] shriek of terror.
50 For they all saw Him and were agitated (troubled and filled with fear and dread). But immediately He talked with them and said, Take heart! I Am! Stop being alarmed and afraid.(C)
51 And He went up into the boat with them, and the wind ceased ([v]sank to rest as if exhausted by its own beating). And they were astonished exceedingly [beyond measure],
52 For they failed to consider or understand [the teaching and meaning of the miracle of] the loaves; [in fact] their hearts had [w]grown callous [had become dull and had [x]lost the power of understanding].
53 And when they had crossed over, they reached the land of Gennesaret and [y]came to [anchor at] the shore.
54 As soon as they got out of the boat, [the people] recognized Him,
55 And they ran about the whole countryside, and began to carry around sick people on their sleeping pads or mats to any place where they heard that He was.
56 And wherever He came into villages or cities or the country, they would lay the sick in the marketplaces and beg Him that they might touch even the fringe of His outer garment, and as many as touched Him were restored to health.

A Prophet Without Honor(A)
6 Jesus left there and went to his hometown,(B) accompanied by his disciples. 2 When the Sabbath came,(C) he began to teach in the synagogue,(D) and many who heard him were amazed.(E)
“Where did this man get these things?” they asked. “What’s this wisdom that has been given him? What are these remarkable miracles he is performing? 3 Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph,[a] Judas and Simon?(F) Aren’t his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.(G)
4 Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.”(H) 5 He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on(I) a few sick people and heal them. 6 He was amazed at their lack of faith.
Jesus Sends Out the Twelve(J)
Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village.(K) 7 Calling the Twelve to him,(L) he began to send them out two by two(M) and gave them authority over impure spirits.(N)
8 These were his instructions: “Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. 9 Wear sandals but not an extra shirt. 10 Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. 11 And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet(O) as a testimony against them.”
12 They went out and preached that people should repent.(P) 13 They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil(Q) and healed them.
John the Baptist Beheaded(R)(S)
14 King Herod heard about this, for Jesus’ name had become well known. Some were saying,[b] “John the Baptist(T) has been raised from the dead, and that is why miraculous powers are at work in him.”
15 Others said, “He is Elijah.”(U)
And still others claimed, “He is a prophet,(V) like one of the prophets of long ago.”(W)
16 But when Herod heard this, he said, “John, whom I beheaded, has been raised from the dead!”
17 For Herod himself had given orders to have John arrested, and he had him bound and put in prison.(X) He did this because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, whom he had married. 18 For John had been saying to Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”(Y) 19 So Herodias nursed a grudge against John and wanted to kill him. But she was not able to, 20 because Herod feared John and protected him, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man.(Z) When Herod heard John, he was greatly puzzled[c]; yet he liked to listen to him.
21 Finally the opportune time came. On his birthday Herod gave a banquet(AA) for his high officials and military commanders and the leading men of Galilee.(AB) 22 When the daughter of[d] Herodias came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his dinner guests.
The king said to the girl, “Ask me for anything you want, and I’ll give it to you.” 23 And he promised her with an oath, “Whatever you ask I will give you, up to half my kingdom.”(AC)
24 She went out and said to her mother, “What shall I ask for?”
“The head of John the Baptist,” she answered.
25 At once the girl hurried in to the king with the request: “I want you to give me right now the head of John the Baptist on a platter.”
26 The king was greatly distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he did not want to refuse her. 27 So he immediately sent an executioner with orders to bring John’s head. The man went, beheaded John in the prison, 28 and brought back his head on a platter. He presented it to the girl, and she gave it to her mother. 29 On hearing of this, John’s disciples came and took his body and laid it in a tomb.
Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand(AD)(AE)
30 The apostles(AF) gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught.(AG) 31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat,(AH) he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
32 So they went away by themselves in a boat(AI) to a solitary place. 33 But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. 34 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd.(AJ) So he began teaching them many things.
35 By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. “This is a remote place,” they said, “and it’s already very late. 36 Send the people away so that they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.”
37 But he answered, “You give them something to eat.”(AK)
They said to him, “That would take more than half a year’s wages[e]! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?”
38 “How many loaves do you have?” he asked. “Go and see.”
When they found out, they said, “Five—and two fish.”(AL)
39 Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass. 40 So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. 41 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves.(AM) Then he gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all. 42 They all ate and were satisfied, 43 and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. 44 The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand.
Jesus Walks on the Water(AN)(AO)
45 Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat(AP) and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida,(AQ) while he dismissed the crowd. 46 After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray.(AR)
47 Later that night, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he was alone on land. 48 He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. Shortly before dawn he went out to them, walking on the lake. He was about to pass by them, 49 but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost.(AS) They cried out, 50 because they all saw him and were terrified.
Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”(AT) 51 Then he climbed into the boat(AU) with them, and the wind died down.(AV) They were completely amazed, 52 for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened.(AW)
53 When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret and anchored there.(AX) 54 As soon as they got out of the boat, people recognized Jesus. 55 They ran throughout that whole region and carried the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. 56 And wherever he went—into villages, towns or countryside—they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak,(AY) and all who touched it were healed.

6 耶穌離開那裡，來到自己的家鄉，門徒也跟從他。 2 到了安息日，他在會堂裡教訓人。眾人聽見就甚稀奇，說：「這人從哪裡有這些事呢？所賜給他的是什麼智慧？他手所做的是何等的異能呢？ 3 這不是那木匠嗎？不是馬利亞的兒子雅各、約西、猶大、西門的長兄嗎？他妹妹們不也是在我們這裡嗎？」他們就厭棄他[a]。 4 耶穌對他們說：「大凡先知，除了本地、親屬、本家之外，沒有不被人尊敬的。」 5 耶穌就在那裡不得行什麼異能，不過按手在幾個病人身上，治好他們。 6 他也詫異他們不信，就往周圍鄉村教訓人去了。

約翰責備希律被斬

30 使徒聚集到耶穌那裡，將一切所做的事、所傳的道全告訴他。 31 他就說：「你們來，同我暗暗地到曠野地方去歇一歇。」這是因為來往的人多，他們連吃飯也沒有工夫。 32 他們就坐船，暗暗地往曠野地方去。 33 眾人看見他們去，有許多認識他們的，就從各城步行，一同跑到那裡，比他們先趕到了。 34 耶穌出來，見有許多的人，就憐憫他們，因為他們如同羊沒有牧人一般，於是開口教訓他們許多道理。 35 天已經晚了，門徒進前來說：「這是野地，天已經晚了， 36 請叫眾人散開，他們好往四面鄉村裡去自己買什麼吃。」
給五千人吃飽
37 耶穌回答說：「你們給他們吃吧！」門徒說：「我們可以去買二十兩銀子的餅給他們吃嗎？」 38 耶穌說：「你們有多少餅，可以去看看。」他們知道了，就說：「五個餅，兩條魚。」 39 耶穌吩咐他們，叫眾人一幫一幫地坐在青草地上。 40 眾人就一排一排地坐下，有一百一排的，有五十一排的。 41 耶穌拿著這五個餅、兩條魚，望著天祝福，掰開餅，遞給門徒，擺在眾人面前，也把那兩條魚分給眾人。 42 他們都吃，並且吃飽了。 43 門徒就把碎餅碎魚收拾起來，裝滿了十二個籃子。 44 吃餅的男人共有五千。
耶穌履海
45 耶穌隨即催門徒上船，先渡到那邊伯賽大去，等他叫眾人散開。 46 他既辭別了他們，就往山上去禱告。 47 到了晚上，船在海中，耶穌獨自在岸上， 48 看見門徒因風不順搖櫓甚苦。夜裡約有四更天，就在海面上走，往他們那裡去，意思要走過他們去。 49 但門徒看見他在海面上走，以為是鬼怪，就喊叫起來， 50 因為他們都看見了他，且甚驚慌。耶穌連忙對他們說：「你們放心！是我，不要怕！」 51 於是到他們那裡，上了船，風就住了。他們心裡十分驚奇， 52 這是因為他們不明白那分餅的事，心裡還是愚頑。
53 既渡過去，來到革尼撒勒地方，就靠了岸。 54 一下船，眾人認得是耶穌， 55 就跑遍那一帶地方，聽見他在何處，便將有病的人用褥子抬到那裡。 56 凡耶穌所到的地方，或村中、或城裡、或鄉間，他們都將病人放在街市上，求耶穌只容他們摸他的衣裳穗子。凡摸著的人就都好了。
