Jesus sætter en ikke-jøde fri fra dæmonernes magt(A)
5 Jesus og disciplene var nu nået over søen til den anden bred, til gerasenernes[a] egn. 2-3 Straks da de gik i land, kom en mand styrtende ud fra en klippehule og hen imod dem. Han var besat af onde ånder og holdt til i de klippehuler, der blev brugt som gravpladser. 4 Han havde igen og igen sprængt alle de fodjern og lænker, man havde forsøgt at holde ham bundet med. Ingen kunne klare ham, 5 og dag og nat kunne man høre ham hyle i gravhulerne og oppe i bjergene, hvor han slog sig selv med sten.
6 Manden havde på lang afstand fået øje på Jesus, og nu kom han styrtende og kastede sig ned på jorden foran ham. 7-8 Jesus befalede den onde ånd at forlade manden, men blev mødt med et højt skrig: „Lad mig være i fred, Jesus, du, den almægtige Guds Søn! Lov mig højt og helligt, at du ikke vil pine mig.”
9 „Hvad er dit navn?” spurgte Jesus. „Legion,” svarede han, „for vi er mange!” 10 Og så gav dæmonerne sig til at bønfalde Jesus om ikke at sende dem bort fra egnen.
11 Nu var der en stor flok svin, som gik og rodede efter føde på toppen af en skrænt i nærheden. 12 „Giv os lov til at besætte svinene!” tiggede dæmonerne. 13 I samme øjeblik Jesus gav dem lov, fór dæmonerne ud af manden og ind i svinene, og hele flokken—omkring 2000—styrtede ned ad skrænten og druknede i søen.
14 Svinehyrderne flygtede og fortalte om det både i by og på land, så egnens beboere kom strømmende til for at se, hvad der var sket. 15 Da de kom hen til Jesus, så de manden, der havde haft de mange dæmoner i sig, sidde påklædt og ved sans og samling. Det forbløffede dem og gjorde dem bange. 16 De, der havde set, hvad der var sket med manden og svinene, fortalte dem, hvordan det var gået til. 17 Derefter bad de Jesus om at forlade deres egn.
18 Da Jesus var på vej op i båden, bad manden, der havde været besat af dæmoner, om lov til at følge med ham. 19 „Nej,” sagde Jesus, „gå du hjem til dine landsmænd og fortæl, hvad Israels Gud[b] i sin barmhjertighed har gjort for dig.”
20 Manden gik derefter rundt i Dekapolis og fortalte alle om de store ting, Jesus havde gjort for ham. Og folk undrede sig.
Ved tro bliver en kvinde helbredt og en pige oprejst fra de døde(B)
21 Så snart Jesus var nået tilbage over søen og gået i land, samledes en stor skare mennesker omkring ham. Mens han endnu stod nede på søbredden, 22 kom en synagogeforstander derhen. Hans navn var Jairus. Da han kom hen til Jesus, faldt han på knæ foran ham 23 og bad indtrængende: „Min lille datter ligger for døden derhjemme! Men hvis du kommer og lægger hænderne på hende, så vil hun blive rask og leve!”
24 Jesus gik med ham, men en vældig masse mennesker trængtes stadig om ham. 25 Mellem de mange mennesker var der en kvinde, som igennem 12 år havde lidt af vedvarende blødninger. 26 I alle de år havde hun gennemgået meget hos forskellige læger, og selv om hun havde brugt alle sine penge i håb om at blive rask, var hendes tilstand ikke blevet bedre—tværtimod. 27-28 Hun havde hørt, hvad folk fortalte om Jesus, og hun trængte sig nu frem gennem mængden for at nå hen til ham. „Hvis bare jeg får rørt ved hans bedesjal, bliver jeg helbredt,” tænkte hun. Forsigtigt rørte hun bagfra ved sjalet. 29 Straks standsede blødningerne, og hun kunne mærke, at hun var blevet rask.
30 Jesus standsede op og vendte sig om, for han havde mærket, at en helbredende kraft var strømmet ud fra ham. „Hvem var det, der rørte ved mit sjal?” spurgte han.
31 „Hele mængden maser jo ind på dig,” indvendte disciplene. „Og så spørger du, hvem der har rørt ved dig?”
32 Jesus blev imidlertid stående og så sig omkring for at få øje på den, der havde gjort det.
33 Den forskrækkede kvinde kom frem. Hun rystede af sindsbevægelse, for hun vidste jo, hvad der var sket. „Det var mig,” sagde hun og faldt på knæ foran ham. Og så fortalte hun det hele. 34 „Min ven, det var din tro, der reddede dig,” sagde Jesus. „Gå med fred! Du er nu fuldstændig helbredt.”
35 Mens han endnu stod og talte med hende, kom der nogle til Jairus med en besked fra hans hjem: „Din datter er død,” sagde de til ham. „Der er ingen grund til at ulejlige mesteren mere.” 36 Jesus hørte, hvad der blev sagt, og sagde henvendt til Jairus: „Vær ikke bange. Du skal bare tro på mig.”
37 Jesus ville ikke have andre med sig hen til Jairus’ hjem end Peter, Jakob og dennes bror Johannes. 38 Da de kom derhen, var der en vældig larm. Folk græd og jamrede højlydt inde i huset. 39 Jesus og disciplene gik indenfor. „Hvorfor græder og jamrer I sådan?” spurgte han. „Den lille pige er ikke død. Hun sover bare.” 40 De lo ad ham, men han bad dem alle gå udenfor og tog kun den lille piges far og mor og de tre disciple med ind i det værelse, hvor hun lå.
41 Han gik hen til sengen, tog pigens hånd og sagde: „Stå op, min pige!” 42 Straks rejste hun sig op og begyndte at gå omkring. Hun var 12 år gammel. Forældrene stod og stirrede med åben mund. 43 „I må ikke sige det til nogen,” sagde Jesus strengt, „og sørg for, at hun får noget at spise.”

5 (A)Llegaron al otro lado del mar, a la tierra de los gadarenos[a]. 2 Cuando Jesús salió de la barca(B), enseguida se acercó a Él, de entre los sepulcros, un hombre con un espíritu inmundo(C), 3 que tenía su morada entre los sepulcros; y nadie podía ya atarlo ni aun con cadenas; 4 porque muchas veces había sido atado con grillos y cadenas, pero él había roto las cadenas y destrozado los grillos, y nadie era tan fuerte como para dominarlo. 5 Siempre, noche y día, andaba entre los sepulcros y en los montes dando gritos e hiriéndose con piedras.
6 Cuando vio a Jesús de lejos, corrió y se postró delante de Él; 7 y gritando a gran voz, dijo*: «¿Qué tengo yo que ver contigo[b], Jesús, Hijo del Dios(D) Altísimo(E)? Te imploro por Dios que no me atormentes(F)». 8 Porque Jesús le decía: «Sal del hombre, espíritu inmundo». 9 «¿Cómo te llamas?», le preguntó Jesús. «Me llamo Legión(G)», respondió*, «porque somos muchos». 10 Le rogaba entonces con insistencia que no los enviara fuera de la tierra.
11 Había allí una gran manada de cerdos paciendo junto al monte. 12 Y los demonios le rogaron, diciendo: «Envíanos a los cerdos para que entremos en ellos». 13 Jesús les dio permiso. Y saliendo los espíritus inmundos, entraron en los cerdos; y la manada, unos 2,000, se precipitó por un despeñadero al mar, y en el mar se ahogaron[c].
14 Los que cuidaban los cerdos[d] huyeron y lo contaron en la ciudad y por los campos. Y la gente vino a ver qué era lo que había sucedido. 15 Vinieron* a Jesús, y vieron* al que había estado endemoniado(H), sentado, vestido(I) y en su cabal juicio, el mismo que había tenido la legión(J); y tuvieron miedo(K). 16 Los que lo habían visto les describieron cómo le había sucedido esto al endemoniado(L), y lo de los cerdos. 17 Y comenzaron a rogar a Jesús que se fuera de su región(M).
18 (N)Al entrar Él en la barca, el que había estado endemoniado(O) le rogaba que lo dejara ir con Él[e]. 19 Pero Jesús no se lo permitió, sino que le dijo*: «Vete a tu casa, a los tuyos, y cuéntales cuán grandes cosas[f]el Señor ha hecho por ti, y cómo tuvo misericordia de ti(P)».
20 Y él se fue, y empezó a proclamar en Decápolis(Q) cuán grandes cosas[g] Jesús había hecho por él; y todos se quedaban maravillados.
Jairo ruega por su hija
21 Cuando Jesús pasó otra vez(R) en la barca(S) al otro lado, se reunió una gran multitud alrededor de Él; así que Él se quedó[h] junto al mar(T).
22 (U)Y vino uno de los oficiales[i] de la sinagoga(V), llamado Jairo, y al ver a Jesús, se postró* a Sus pies, 23 y le rogaba* con insistencia: «Mi hijita está al borde de la muerte; te ruego que vengas y pongas las manos sobre ella(W) para que sane[j] y viva». 24 Jesús fue con él; y una gran multitud lo seguía y oprimía.
Jesús sana a una mujer
25 Había una mujer que padecía de flujo de sangre por doce años. 26 Había sufrido mucho a manos de muchos médicos, y había gastado todo lo que tenía sin provecho alguno, sino que al contrario, había empeorado.
27 Cuando ella oyó hablar de Jesús, se llegó a Él por detrás entre la multitud y tocó Su manto. 28 Porque decía[k]: «Si tan solo toco Sus ropas, sanaré[l]». 29 Al instante la fuente de su sangre se secó, y sintió en su cuerpo que estaba curada de su aflicción(X). 30 Enseguida Jesús, dándose cuenta de que había salido poder de Él(Y), volviéndose entre la gente, dijo: «¿Quién ha tocado Mi ropa?». 31 Y Sus discípulos le dijeron: «Ves que la multitud te oprime, y preguntas: “¿Quién me ha tocado?”». 32 Pero Él miraba a su alrededor para ver a la mujer que lo había tocado[m].
33 Entonces la mujer, temerosa y temblando, dándose cuenta de lo que le había sucedido, vino y se postró delante de Él y le dijo toda la verdad. 34 «Hija, tu fe te ha sanado[n](Z)», le dijo Jesús; «vete en paz(AA)y queda sana de tu aflicción(AB)».
Jesús resucita a la hija de Jairo
35 Mientras Él estaba todavía hablando, vinieron* unos enviados de la casa del oficial de la sinagoga(AC), diciendo: «Tu hija ha muerto, ¿para qué molestas aún al Maestro?». 36 Pero Jesús, oyendo lo que se hablaba, dijo* al oficial de la sinagoga(AD): «No temas, cree solamente[o](AE)».
37 Y no permitió que nadie fuera con Él sino solo Pedro, Jacobo[p] y Juan, hermano de Jacobo(AF). 38 Fueron* a la casa del oficial de la sinagoga(AG), y Jesús vio* el alboroto, y a los que lloraban y se lamentaban mucho. 39 Cuando entró les dijo*: «¿Por qué hacen alboroto y lloran? La niña no ha muerto, sino que está dormida».
40 Y se burlaban de Él. Pero echando fuera a todos, Jesús tomó* consigo al padre y a la madre de la niña, y a los que estaban con Él, y entró* donde estaba la niña. 41 Tomando a la niña por la mano, le dijo*: «Talita cum», que traducido significa: «Niña, a ti te digo, ¡levántate(AH)!».
42 Al instante la niña se levantó y comenzó a caminar, pues tenía doce años. Y al momento todos se quedaron completamente atónitos. 43 Entonces les dio órdenes estrictas de que nadie se enterara de esto(AI); y dijo que le dieran de comer a la niña[q].

Jesus Restores a Demon-Possessed Man(A)(B)
5 They went across the lake to the region of the Gerasenes.[a] 2 When Jesus got out of the boat,(C) a man with an impure spirit(D) came from the tombs to meet him. 3 This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain. 4 For he had often been chained hand and foot, but he tore the chains apart and broke the irons on his feet. No one was strong enough to subdue him. 5 Night and day among the tombs and in the hills he would cry out and cut himself with stones.
6 When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. 7 He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me,(E) Jesus, Son of the Most High God?(F) In God’s name don’t torture me!” 8 For Jesus had said to him, “Come out of this man, you impure spirit!”
9 Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?”
“My name is Legion,”(G) he replied, “for we are many.” 10 And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area.
11 A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. 12 The demons begged Jesus, “Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.” 13 He gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.
14 Those tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened. 15 When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion(H) of demons,(I) sitting there, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. 16 Those who had seen it told the people what had happened to the demon-possessed man—and told about the pigs as well. 17 Then the people began to plead with Jesus to leave their region.
18 As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. 19 Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them(J) how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” 20 So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis[b](K) how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.
Jesus Raises a Dead Girl and Heals a Sick Woman(L)
21 When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake,(M) a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake.(N) 22 Then one of the synagogue leaders,(O) named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. 23 He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on(P) her so that she will be healed and live.” 24 So Jesus went with him.
A large crowd followed and pressed around him. 25 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding(Q) for twelve years. 26 She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes,(R) I will be healed.” 29 Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.(S)
30 At once Jesus realized that power(T) had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”
31 “You see the people crowding against you,” his disciples answered, “and yet you can ask, ‘Who touched me?’ ”
32 But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. 33 Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. 34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you.(U) Go in peace(V) and be freed from your suffering.”
35 While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader.(W) “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?”
36 Overhearing[c] what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”
37 He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James.(X) 38 When they came to the home of the synagogue leader,(Y) Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. 39 He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.”(Z) 40 But they laughed at him.
After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. 41 He took her by the hand(AA) and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”).(AB) 42 Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished. 43 He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about this,(AC) and told them to give her something to eat.

2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.
5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,
7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.
14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.
21 And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.
22 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.
24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
43 And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.

A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed(N)

And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet 23 and begged Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter lies at the point of death. 32 And He looked around to see her who had done this thing. 33 But the woman, (U)fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. 34 And He said to her, “Daughter, (V)your faith has made you well. (W)Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”
35 (X)While He was still speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?”
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only (Y)believe.” 37 And He permitted no one to follow Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James. 38 Then He came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and saw [g]a tumult and those who (Z)wept and wailed loudly. 39 When He came in, He said to them, “Why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead, but (AA)sleeping.”
40 And they ridiculed Him. (AB)But when He had put them all outside, He took the father and the mother of the child, and those who were with Him, and entered where the child was lying. 41 Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” 42 Immediately the girl arose and walked, for she was twelve years of age. And they were (AC)overcome with great amazement. 43 But (AD)He commanded them strictly that no one should know it, and said that something should be given her to eat.
