Jesus botar en besatt
5 Så kom de över till gerasenernas område på andra sidan sjön. 2 När Jesus steg ur båten, kom en man emot honom från gravarna. Han hade en oren ande 3 och höll till bland gravarna. Ingen kunde binda honom längre, inte ens med kedjor. 4 Många gånger hade han bundits med fotbojor och kedjor, men han hade slitit av kedjorna och brutit sönder bojorna. Ingen var stark nog att rå på honom. 5 Ständigt, natt och dag, höll han till bland gravarna och uppe i bergen, och han ropade och slog sig själv med stenar. 6 När han nu på långt håll fick se Jesus, sprang han fram och föll ner för honom 7 och skrek: "Vad har jag med dig att göra, Jesus, den högste Gudens Son? Jag besvär dig vid Gud: Plåga mig inte!" 8 Jesus hade just befallt honom: "Far ut ur mannen, du orene ande!" 9 Nu frågade han honom: "Vad är ditt namn?" Mannen svarade: "Mitt namn är Legion,[a] för vi är många." 10 Och han bad gång på gång att Jesus inte skulle driva bort dem från området.
11 Där gick då en stor svinhjord och betade vid berget. 12 De orena andarna bad honom: "Skicka i väg oss till svinen, så att vi kan fara in i dem." 13 Det tillät han, och då for andarna ut ur mannen och in i svinen, och hjorden störtade sig utför branten ner i sjön. Det var omkring två tusen svin som drunknade. 14 De som vaktade dem flydde och berättade detta i staden och ute på landsbygden, och man gick för att se vad som hade hänt. 15 Och när de kom till Jesus och såg den besatte som haft legionen sitta där, klädd och vid sina sinnen, blev de förskräckta. 16 De som var ögonvittnen berättade för folket vad som hade hänt med den besatte och hur det hade gått med svinen. 17 Då bad man att Jesus skulle lämna deras område.
18 När han steg i båten, bad mannen som hade varit besatt att han skulle få följa med honom. 19 Men Jesus tillät det inte utan sade: "Gå hem till de dina och berätta för dem allt vad Herren har gjort med dig och hur han förbarmade sig över dig." 20 Mannen gick då och ropade ut över hela Dekapolis[b] allt vad Jesus hade gjort med honom. Och alla förundrade sig.
Jesus uppväcker Jairus dotter och botar en sjuk kvinna
21 När Jesus hade farit tillbaka med båten till andra sidan sjön, samlades en stor folkskara hos honom, där han var vid sjön. 22 En synagogföreståndare som hette Jairus kom dit, och då han fick se Jesus, föll han ner för hans fötter 23 och bad honom enträget: "Min dotter ligger för döden. Kom och lägg händerna på henne, så blir hon frisk och får leva." 24 Då gick Jesus med honom.
Mycket folk följde efter och trängde sig inpå honom. 25 Där var en kvinna som hade haft blödningar i tolv år. 26 Fast hon hade lidit mycket hos många läkare och lagt ut allt hon ägde, hade hon inte fått någon hjälp. Det hade bara blivit sämre med henne. 27 Hon hade hört talas om Jesus, och nu kom hon bakifrån i folkmassan och rörde vid hans mantel. 28 Hon tänkte: "Om jag så bara rör vid hans kläder blir jag frisk." 29 På en gång upphörde hennes blödningar, och hon kände i kroppen att hon var botad från sin plåga. 30 När Jesus märkte att det hade gått ut kraft från honom, vände han sig om i folkskaran och frågade: "Vem rörde vid mina kläder?" 31 Hans lärjungar sade till honom: "Du ser hur folket tränger sig inpå dig, och du frågar: Vem rörde vid mig?" 32 Han fortsatte att se sig omkring efter kvinnan som hade gjort detta. 33 Hon visste vad som hade skett med henne och kom förskräckt och darrande och föll ner för honom och talade om hela sanningen för honom. 34 Då sade han till henne: "Min dotter, din tro har frälst dig. Gå i frid och var frisk och fri från din plåga!"
35 Medan han ännu talade kom några från synagogföreståndarens hus och sade: "Din dotter är död. Varför besvärar du Mästaren längre?" 36 Men Jesus fäste sig inte vid deras ord utan sade till föreståndaren: "Var inte rädd. Tro endast." 37 Och han lät ingen följa med utom Petrus, Jakob och hans bror Johannes, 38 och de kom till föreståndarens hus. Där såg han en orolig skara människor som grät och klagade högt. 39 Han gick in och sade till dem: "Varför skriker ni och gråter? Flickan är inte död. Hon sover." 40 Då hånskrattade de åt honom. Men han drev ut allesammans, tog med sig barnets far och mor och sina egna lärjungar och gick in där barnet låg. 41 Och han tog barnets hand och sade till henne: "Talita koum!" Det betyder: "Lilla flicka, jag säger dig, stig upp!" 42 Genast steg flickan upp och började gå omkring - hon var tolv år - och de blev utom sig av häpnad. 43 Men han förbjöd dem strängt att låta någon få veta detta. Sedan sade han åt dem att ge henne något att äta.

2 Och strax då han hade stigit ur båten, kom en man, som var besatt av en oren ande, emot honom från gravarna där;
3 han hade nämligen sitt tillhåll bland gravarna. Och icke ens med kedjor kunde man numera fängsla honom;
4 ty väl hade han många gånger blivit fängslad med fotbojor och kedjor, men han hade slitit itu kedjorna och brutit sönder fotbojorna, och ingen kunde få makt med honom.
5 Och han vistades alltid, dag och natt, bland gravarna och på bergen och skriade och sargade sig själv med stenar.
6 När denne nu fick se Jesus på avstånd, skyndade han fram och föll ned för honom
7 och ropade med hög röst och sade: »Vad har du med mig att göra, Jesus, du Guds, den Högstes, Son? Jag besvär dig vid Gud, plåga mig icke.»
8 Jesus skulle nämligen just säga till honom: »Far ut ur mannen, du orena ande.»
9 Då frågade han honom: »Vad är ditt namn?» Han svarade honom: »Legion är mitt namn, ty vi äro många.»
10 Och han bad honom enträget att icke driva dem bort ifrån den trakten.
11 Nu gick där vid berget en stor svinhjord i bet.
12 Och de bådo honom och sade: »Sänd oss åstad in i svinen; låt oss få fara in i dem.»
13 Och han tillstadde dem det. Då gåvo sig de orena andarna åstad och foro in i svinen. Och hjorden, vid pass två tusen svin, störtade sig utför branten ned i sjön och drunknade i sjön.
14 Men de som vaktade dem flydde och berättade härom i staden och på landsbygden; och folket gick åstad för att se vad det var som hade skett.
15 När de då kommo till Jesus, fingo de se den som hade varit besatt, mannen som hade haft legionen i sig, sitta där klädd och vid sina sinnen; och de betogos av häpnad.
16 Och de som hade åsett händelsen förtäljde för dem vad som hade vederfarits den besatte, och vad som hade skett med svinen.
17 Då begynte folket bedja honom att han skulle gå bort ifrån deras område.
18 När han sedan steg i båten, bad honom mannen som hade varit besatt, att han skulle få följa honom.
19 Men han tillstadde honom det icke, utan sade till honom: »Gå hem till de dina, och berätta för dem huru stora ting Herren har gjort med dig, och huru han har förbarmat sig över dig.»
20 Då gick han åstad och begynte förkunna i Dekapolis huru stora ting Jesus hade gjort med honom; och alla förundrade sig.
21 Och när Jesus hade farit över i båten, tillbaka till andra stranden, församlade sig mycket folk omkring honom, där han stod vid sjön.
22 Då kom en synagogföreståndare, vid namn Jairus, dit; och när denne fick se honom, föll han ned för hans fötter
23 och bad honom enträget och sade: »Min dotter ligger på sitt yttersta. Kom och lägg händerna på henne, så att hon bliver hulpen och får leva.»
24 Då gick han med mannen; och honom följde mycket folk, som trängde sig inpå honom.
25 Nu var där en kvinna som hade haft blodgång i tolv år,
26 och som hade lidit mycket hos många läkare och kostat på sig allt vad hon ägde, utan att det hade varit henne till något gagn; snarare hade det blivit värre med henne.
27 Hon hade fått höra om Jesus och kom nu i folkhopen, bakom honom, och rörde vid hans mantel.
28 Ty hon tänkte: »Om jag åtminstone får röra vid hans kläder, så bliver jag hulpen.»
29 Och strax uttorkade hennes blods källa, och hon kände i sin kropp att hon var botad från sin plåga.
30 Men strax då Jesus inom sig förnam vilken kraft som hade gått ut ifrån honom, vände han sig om i folkhopen och frågade: »Vem rörde vid mina kläder?»
31 Hans lärjungar sade till honom: »Du ser huru folket tränger på, och ändå frågar du: 'Vem rörde vid mig?'»
32 Då såg han sig omkring för att få se den som hade gjort detta.
33 Men kvinnan fruktade och bävade, ty hon visste vad som hade skett med henne; och hon kom fram och föll ned för honom och sade honom hela sanningen.
34 Då sade han till henne: »Min dotter, din tro har hjälpt dig. Gå i frid, och var botad från din plåga.»
35 Medan han ännu talade, kommo några från synagogföreståndarens hus och sade: »Din dotter är död; du må icke vidare göra mästaren omak.»
36 Men när Jesus märkte vad som talades, sade han till synagogföreståndaren: »Frukta icke, tro allenast.»
37 Och han tillstadde ingen att följa med, utom Petrus och Jakob och Johannes, Jakobs broder.
38 Så kommo de till synagogföreståndarens hus, och han fick där se en hop människor som höjde klagolåt och gräto och jämrade sig högt.
39 Och han gick in och sade till dem: »Varför klagen I och gråten? Flickan är icke död, hon sover.»
40 Då hånlogo de åt honom. Men han visade ut dem allasammans; och han tog med sig allenast flickans fader och moder och dem som hade fått följa med honom, och gick in dit där flickan låg.
41 Och han tog flickan vid handen och sade till henne: »Talita, kum» (det betyder: »Flicka, jag säger dig, stå upp»).
42 Och strax stod flickan upp och begynte gå omkring (hon var nämligen tolv år gammal); och de blevo strax uppfyllda av stor häpnad.
43 Men han förbjöd dem strängeligen att låta någon få veta vad som hade skett. Därefter tillsade han att man skulle giva henne något att äta.

Jesus Restores a Demon-Possessed Man(A)(B)
5 They went across the lake to the region of the Gerasenes.[a] 2 When Jesus got out of the boat,(C) a man with an impure spirit(D) came from the tombs to meet him. 3 This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain. 4 For he had often been chained hand and foot, but he tore the chains apart and broke the irons on his feet. No one was strong enough to subdue him. 5 Night and day among the tombs and in the hills he would cry out and cut himself with stones.
6 When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. 7 He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me,(E) Jesus, Son of the Most High God?(F) In God’s name don’t torture me!” 8 For Jesus had said to him, “Come out of this man, you impure spirit!”
9 Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?”
“My name is Legion,”(G) he replied, “for we are many.” 10 And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area.
11 A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. 12 The demons begged Jesus, “Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.” 13 He gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.
14 Those tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened. 15 When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion(H) of demons,(I) sitting there, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. 16 Those who had seen it told the people what had happened to the demon-possessed man—and told about the pigs as well. 17 Then the people began to plead with Jesus to leave their region.
18 As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. 19 Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them(J) how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” 20 So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis[b](K) how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.
Jesus Raises a Dead Girl and Heals a Sick Woman(L)
21 When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake,(M) a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake.(N) 22 Then one of the synagogue leaders,(O) named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. 23 He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on(P) her so that she will be healed and live.” 24 So Jesus went with him.
A large crowd followed and pressed around him. 25 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding(Q) for twelve years. 26 She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes,(R) I will be healed.” 29 Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.(S)
30 At once Jesus realized that power(T) had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”
31 “You see the people crowding against you,” his disciples answered, “and yet you can ask, ‘Who touched me?’ ”
32 But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. 33 Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. 34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you.(U) Go in peace(V) and be freed from your suffering.”
35 While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader.(W) “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?”
36 Overhearing[c] what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”
37 He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James.(X) 38 When they came to the home of the synagogue leader,(Y) Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. 39 He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.”(Z) 40 But they laughed at him.
After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. 41 He took her by the hand(AA) and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”).(AB) 42 Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished. 43 He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about this,(AC) and told them to give her something to eat.

5 (A)Y llegaron al otro lado del mar, a la tierra de los gadarenos[a]. 2 Y cuando Él salió de la barca(B), enseguida vino a su encuentro, de entre los sepulcros, un hombre con un espíritu inmundo(C), 3 que tenía su morada entre los sepulcros; y nadie podía ya atarlo ni aun con cadenas; 4 porque muchas veces había sido atado con grillos y cadenas, pero él había roto las cadenas y destrozado los grillos, y nadie era tan fuerte como para dominarlo. 5 Y siempre, noche y día, andaba entre los sepulcros y en los montes dando gritos e hiriéndose con piedras. 6 Cuando vio a Jesús de lejos, corrió y se postró delante de Él; 7 y gritando a gran voz, dijo*: ¿Qué tengo yo que ver contigo[b], Jesús, Hijo del Dios(D) Altísimo(E)? Te imploro por Dios que no me atormentes(F). 8 Porque Jesús le decía: Sal del hombre, espíritu inmundo. 9 Y le preguntó: ¿Cómo te llamas? Y él le dijo*: Me llamo Legión(G), porque somos muchos. 10 Entonces le rogaba con insistencia que no los enviara fuera de la tierra. 11 Y había allí una gran piara de cerdos paciendo junto al monte. 12 Y los demonios le rogaron, diciendo: Envíanos a los cerdos para que entremos en ellos. 13 Y Él les dio permiso. Y la gente vino a ver qué era lo que había sucedido. 15 Y vinieron* a Jesús, y vieron* al que había estado endemoniado(H), sentado, vestido(I) y en su cabal juicio, el mismo que había tenido la legión(J); y tuvieron miedo(K). 16 Y los que lo habían visto les describieron cómo le había sucedido esto al endemoniado(L), y lo de los cerdos. 17 Y comenzaron a rogarle que se fuera de su comarca(M). 18 (N)Al entrar Él en la barca, el que había estado endemoniado(O) le rogaba que lo dejara acompañarle[e]. 19 Pero Jesús no se lo permitió, sino que le dijo*: Vete a tu casa, a los tuyos, y cuéntales cuán grandes cosas[f] el Señor ha hecho por ti, y cómo tuvo misericordia de ti(P). 20 Y él se fue, y empezó a proclamar en Decápolis(Q) cuán grandes cosas[g] Jesús había hecho por él; y todos se quedaban maravillados.
Jairo ruega por su hija
21 Cuando Jesús pasó otra vez(R) en la barca(S) al otro lado, se reunió una gran multitud alrededor de Él; así que Él se quedó[h] junto al mar(T). 22 (U)Y vino uno de los oficiales[i] de la sinagoga(V), llamado Jairo, y al verle se postró* a sus pies. 23 Y le rogaba* con insistencia, diciendo: Mi hijita está al borde de la muerte; te ruego que vengas y pongas las manos sobre ella(W) para que sane[j] y viva. 24 Jesús fue con él; y una gran multitud le seguía y le oprimía.
Jesús sana a una mujer
25 Y una mujer que había tenido flujo de sangre por doce años, 26 y había sufrido mucho a manos de muchos médicos, y había gastado todo lo que tenía sin provecho alguno, sino que al contrario, había empeorado; 27 cuando oyó hablar de Jesús, se llegó a Él por detrás entre la multitud y tocó su manto. 28 Porque decía[k]: Si tan solo toco sus ropas, sanaré[l]. 29 Al instante la fuente de su sangre se secó, y sintió en su cuerpo que estaba curada de su aflicción(X). 30 Y enseguida Jesús, dándose cuenta de que había salido poder de Él(Y), volviéndose entre la gente, dijo: ¿Quién ha tocado mi ropa? 31 Y sus discípulos le dijeron: Ves que la multitud te oprime, y dices: «¿Quién me ha tocado?». 32 Pero Él miraba a su alrededor para ver a la mujer que le había tocado[m]. 33 Entonces la mujer, temerosa y temblando, dándose cuenta de lo que le había sucedido, vino y se postró delante de Él y le dijo toda la verdad. 34 Y Jesús le dijo: Hija, tu fe te ha sanado[n](Z); vete en paz(AA) y queda sana de tu aflicción(AB).
Jesús resucita a la hija de Jairo
35 Mientras estaba todavía hablando, vinieron* de casa del oficial de la sinagoga(AC), diciendo: Tu hija ha muerto, ¿para qué molestas aún al Maestro? 36 Pero Jesús, oyendo lo que se hablaba, dijo* al oficial de la sinagoga(AD): No temas, cree solamente[o](AE). 37 Y no permitió que nadie fuera con Él sino solo Pedro, Jacobo[p] y Juan, el hermano de Jacobo[q](AF). 38 Fueron* a la casa del oficial de la sinagoga(AG), y Jesús vio* el alboroto, y a los que lloraban y se lamentaban mucho. 39 Y entrando les dijo*: ¿Por qué hacéis alboroto y lloráis? La niña no ha muerto, sino que está dormida. 40 Y se burlaban de Él. Pero Él, echando fuera a todos, tomó* consigo al padre y a la madre de la niña, y a los que estaban con Él, y entró* donde estaba la niña. 41 Y tomando a la niña por la mano, le dijo*: Talita cum (que traducido significa: Niña, a ti te digo, ¡levántate(AH)!). 42 Al instante la niña se levantó y comenzó a caminar, pues tenía doce años. Y al momento se quedaron completamente atónitos. 43 Entonces les dio órdenes estrictas de que nadie se enterara de esto(AI); y dijo que le dieran de comer a la niña[r].

5 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.
2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.
5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,
7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.
14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.
21 And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.
22 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.
24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
43 And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.
