40 Ze lachten Hem uit. Maar Hij stuurde hen allemaal naar buiten. Hij ging de kamer in waar het kind lag. Alleen de ouders van het kind en de leerlingen die Hij had meegenomen mochten mee naar binnen. 41 Hij pakte de hand van het kind en zei tegen haar: "Meisje, sta op!" 42 Het meisje stond onmiddellijk op en het kon lopen, want het was twaalf jaar. Ze waren geschokt.

40 Het kind is niet gestorven, het slaapt.’ Zij lachten Hem in zijn gezicht uit. Maar Jezus stuurde ze allemaal de deur uit en ging samen met de ouders en zijn drie leerlingen naar de kamer van het kind. 41 Hij nam haar bij de hand en zei: ‘Talita koem,’ dat betekent: Sta op, meisje. 42 Het meisje, dat twaalf jaar was, sprong uit haar bed en kon meteen weer lopen! Haar ouders wisten niet wat zij zagen. Zij waren er helemaal ondersteboven van.

40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.

40 But they laughed at him.
After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. 41 He took her by the hand(A) and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”).(B) 42 Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished.
