⁴⁵ And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into ^[d]hell, ^[e]into the fire that shall never be quenched— ⁴⁶ where

⁴⁷ And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into ^[f]hell fire— ⁴⁸ where

Tasteless Salt Is Worthless

⁴⁹ “For everyone will be ^(F)seasoned with fire, ^(G)and^[g] every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt. ^50 (H)Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? ^(I)Have salt in yourselves, and ^(J)have peace with one another.”

^21 (A)For from within, out of the heart of men, ^(B)proceed evil thoughts, ^(C)adulteries, ^(D)fornications, murders, ²² thefts, ^(E)covetousness, wickedness, ^(F)deceit, ^(G)lewdness, an evil eye, ^(H)blasphemy, ^(I)pride, foolishness. ²³ All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”

^6 (A)Also he caused his sons to pass through the fire in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom; he practiced ^(B)soothsaying, used witchcraft and sorcery, and ^(C)consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger.

^18 (A)“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. ¹⁹ And this is the condemnation, ^(B)that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. ²⁰ For ^(C)everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.

^24 (A)Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; ^(B)for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”

The Just Live by Faith

¹⁶ For ^(A)I am not ashamed of the gospel ^[a]of Christ, for ^(B)it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, ^(C)for the Jew first and also for the Greek. ¹⁷ For ^(D)in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ^(E)“The just shall live by faith.”

God’s Wrath on Unrighteousness

^18 (F)For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and ^(G)unrighteousness of men, who ^[b]suppress the truth in unrighteousness, ¹⁹ because ^(H)what may be known of God is ^[c]manifest ^[d]in them, for ^(I)God has shown it to them. ²⁰ For since the creation of the world ^(J)His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and ^[e]Godhead, so that they are without excuse, ²¹ because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but ^(K)became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

Death in Adam, Life in Christ^(A)

¹² Therefore, just as ^(B)through one man sin entered the world, and ^(C)death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—

¹⁹ For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by ^(A)one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.
