The Transfiguration of Christ(A)

And He said to them, (B)“Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here who will not taste death till they see (C)the kingdom of God [a]present with power.”

Jesus Transfigured on the Mount

(D)Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His clothes became shining, exceedingly (E)white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them. And Elijah appeared to them with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”— because he did not know what to say, for they were greatly afraid.

And a (F)cloud came and overshadowed them; and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is (G)My beloved Son. (H)Hear Him!” Suddenly, when they had looked around, they saw no one anymore, but only Jesus with themselves.

(I)Now as they came down from the mountain, He commanded them that they should tell no one the things they had seen, till the Son of Man had risen from the dead. 10 So they kept this word to themselves, questioning (J)what the rising from the dead meant.

The Shining Face of Moses

29 Now it was so, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the (A)two tablets of the Testimony were in Moses’ hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that (B)the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him. 30 So when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him.

Introduction and Benediction

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, (A)which God gave Him to show His servants—things which must [a]shortly take place. And (B)He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John, (C)who bore witness to the word of God, and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, to all things (D)that he saw. (E)Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for (F)the time is near.

Greeting the Seven Churches

John, to the seven churches which are in Asia:

Grace to you and peace from Him (G)who is and (H)who was and who is to come, (I)and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, and from Jesus Christ, (J)the faithful (K)witness, the (L)firstborn from the dead, and (M)the ruler over the kings of the earth.

To Him (N)who [b]loved us (O)and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has (P)made us [c]kings and priests to His God and Father, (Q)to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Behold, He is coming with (R)clouds, and every eye will see Him, even (S)they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.

(T)“I am the Alpha and the Omega, [d]the Beginning and the End,” says the [e]Lord, (U)“who is and who was and who is to come, the (V)Almighty.”

Christ on a White Horse

11 (A)Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, (B)a white horse. And He who sat on him was called (C)Faithful and True, and (D)in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 (E)His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. (F)He [a]had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13 (G)He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called (H)The Word of God. 14 (I)And the armies in heaven, (J)clothed in [b]fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15 Now (K)out of His mouth goes a [c]sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And (L)He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. (M)He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And (N)He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:

(O)KING OF KINGS AND
LORD OF LORDS.
