Chúa Cầu Nguyện trong Vườn Ghết-sê-ma-nê
(Mat 26:36-46; Lu 22:39-46)
32 Bấy giờ họ đến một nơi gọi là Ghết-sê-ma-nê. Ngài nói với các môn đồ Ngài, “Hãy ngồi đây trong khi Ta đi cầu nguyện.” 33 Ngài đem Phi-rơ, Gia-cơ, và Giăng theo, rồi bắt đầu buồn bã và sầu não. 34 Ngài nói với họ, “Linh hồn Ta buồn bã gần chết. Hãy ở đây và thức canh.”
35 Ngài đi xa thêm một quãng nữa, sấp mình xuống đất, và cầu nguyện rằng, nếu có thể được, xin giờ ấy qua khỏi Ngài. 36 Ngài nói, “A-ba, thưa Cha, Cha có thể làm mọi sự. Xin cất chén này khỏi Con, nhưng không theo ý Con, mà theo ý Cha.”
37 Ngài trở lại và thấy họ đều ngủ, Ngài nói với Phi-rơ, “Si-môn, ngươi ngủ sao? Ngươi không thể thức canh một giờ sao? 38 Hãy thức canh và cầu nguyện để các ngươi khỏi sa vào chước cám dỗ. Tâm linh thì muốn lắm, mà xác thịt thì yếu đuối.”
39 Ngài lại đi, cầu nguyện, và nói y như lần trước. 40 Sau đó Ngài trở lại và thấy các môn đồ đang ngủ, vì mắt họ đã nặng trĩu quá rồi. Họ không còn biết trả lời với Ngài thế nào.
41 Ngài trở lại lần thứ ba và nói với họ, “Bây giờ mà các ngươi vẫn còn ngủ và nghỉ ư? Ðủ rồi. Ðã đến giờ rồi. Này, Con Người sắp bị phản nộp vào tay những kẻ tội lỗi. 42 Hãy đứng dậy, chúng ta đi. Này, kẻ phản Ta đến kìa.”

32 And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray.
33 And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;
34 And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.
35 And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.
36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
37 And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?
38 Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
39 And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.
40 And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him.
41 And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
42 Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand.

32 (A)And they went (B)to a place called Gethsemane. And he said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” 33 And he took with him (C)Peter and James and John, and began (D)to be greatly distressed and troubled. 34 And he said to them, (E)“My soul is very sorrowful, even to death. Remain here and (F)watch.”[a] 35 And going a little farther, he fell on the ground (G)and prayed that, if it were possible, (H)the hour might pass from him. 36 And he said, (I)“Abba, Father, (J)all things are possible for you. Remove (K)this cup from me. (L)Yet not what I will, but what you will.” 37 And he came and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, “Simon, are you asleep? Could you not watch one hour? 38 (M)Watch and (N)pray that you may not (O)enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” 39 And again he went away and prayed, (P)saying the same words. 40 And again he came and found them sleeping, for (Q)their eyes were very heavy, and (R)they did not know what to answer him. 41 And he came the third time and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? (S)It is enough; (T)the hour has come. (U)The Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 42 Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand.”
