ปัญหาเรื่องสิทธิอำนาจของพระเยซู(A)
27 เมื่อพวกเขามาถึงกรุงเยรูซาเล็มอีกครั้ง ขณะพระเยซูทรงดำเนินอยู่ในลานพระวิหาร พวกหัวหน้าปุโรหิต ธรรมาจารย์ และเหล่าผู้อาวุโสมาทูลถามพระองค์ว่า 28 “ท่านทำสิ่งเหล่านี้โดยอาศัยสิทธิอำนาจใด? และใครให้สิทธิอำนาจท่านทำเช่นนี้?”
29 พระเยซูตรัสตอบว่า “เราก็จะถามท่านสักข้อหนึ่ง จงตอบมาแล้วเราจะบอกว่าเราอาศัยสิทธิอำนาจใดทำสิ่งเหล่านี้ 30 บัพติศมาของยอห์นมาจากสวรรค์หรือจากมนุษย์? จงบอกเรามา!”
31 พวกเขาหารือกันว่า “ถ้าตอบว่า ‘มาจากสวรรค์’ เขาก็จะถามว่า ‘แล้วทำไมท่านไม่เชื่อยอห์น?’ 32 แต่ถ้าจะว่า ‘มาจากมนุษย์’…” (พวกเขากลัวประชาชนเพราะทุกคนถือว่ายอห์นเป็นผู้เผยพระวจนะจริงๆ)
33 ดังนั้นพวกเขาจึงทูลพระเยซูว่า “พวกเราไม่ทราบ”
พระเยซูตรัสว่า “เราก็จะไม่บอกพวกท่านเช่นกันว่าเราอาศัยสิทธิอำนาจใดทำสิ่งเหล่านี้”

27 And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders,
28 And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things?
29 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will also ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.
30 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? answer me.
31 And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did ye not believe him?
32 But if we shall say, Of men; they feared the people: for all men counted John, that he was a prophet indeed.
33 And they answered and said unto Jesus, We cannot tell. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

Jesus’ Authority Questioned(A)
27 Then they came again to Jerusalem. (B)And as He was walking in the temple, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders came to Him. 28 And they said to Him, “By what (C)authority are You doing these things? And who gave You this authority to do these things?”
29 But Jesus answered and said to them, “I also will ask you one question; then answer Me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things: 30 The (D)baptism of John—was it from heaven or from men? Answer Me.”
31 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will say, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’ 32 But if we say, ‘From men’ ”—they feared the people, for (E)all counted John to have been a prophet indeed. 33 So they answered and said to Jesus, “We do not know.”
And Jesus answered and said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”
