Temptations to Sin

42 “If any of you cause one of these little ones who believe in me[a] to sin,[b] it would be better for you if a great millstone were hung around your neck and you were thrown into the sea.(A) 43 If your hand causes you to sin,[c] cut it off; it is better for you to enter life maimed than to have two hands and to go to hell,[d] to the unquenchable fire.[e](B) 45 And if your foot causes you to sin,[f] cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame than to have two feet and to be thrown into hell.[g][h](C) 47 And if your eye causes you to sin,[i] tear it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and to be thrown into hell,[j](D) 48 where their worm never dies and the fire is never quenched.(E)

49 “For everyone will be salted with fire.[k](F) 50 Salt is good, but if salt has lost its saltiness, how can you season it?[l] Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”(G)

42 (A)Whoever causes one of these [a]little ones who believe in Me to [b]sin, it is better for him if a heavy millstone is hung around his neck and he [c]is thrown into the sea. 43 And (B)if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life maimed, than, having your two hands, to go into [d](C)hell, into the (D)unquenchable fire.[e] 45 And if your foot is causing you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life without a foot, than, having your two feet, to be thrown into [f](E)hell.[g] 47 And (F)if your eye is causing you to sin, throw it away; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, than, having two eyes, to be thrown into [h](G)hell, 48 (H)where their worm does not die, and (I)the fire is not extinguished. 49 For everyone will be salted with fire. 50 Salt is good; but (J)if the salt becomes unsalty, with what will you [i]make it salty again? (K)Have salt in yourselves, and (L)be at peace with one another.”
