⁶ He did not know what to say, for they were terrified.

¹⁷ When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he placed his right hand on me, saying, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last^(A)

⁵ As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.^{(A) 6} But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Look, there is the place they laid him.^{(B) 7} But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him, just as he told you.”^{(C) 8} So they went out and fled from the tomb, for terror and amazement had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.^[a]

The Intermediate Ending of Mark

[[And all that had been commanded them they told briefly to those around Peter. And afterward Jesus himself sent out through them, from east to west, the sacred and imperishable proclamation of eternal salvation. Amen.^[b]]]

¹⁵ While he was speaking these words to me, I turned my face toward the ground and was speechless.^{(A) 16} Then one in human form touched my lips, and I opened my mouth to speak and said to the one who stood before me, “My lord, because of the vision such pains have come upon me that I retain no strength.^{(B) 17} How can my lord’s servant talk with my lord? For I am exhausted;^[a] no strength remains in me, and no breath is left in me.”

¹⁸ Again one in human form touched me and strengthened me. ¹⁹ He said, “Do not fear, greatly beloved; you are safe. Be strong and courageous!” When he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.”^(C)
