^31 (A)For He taught His disciples and said to them, “The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will ^(B)kill Him. And after He is killed, He will ^(C)rise the third day.”

Jesus Predicts His Death and Resurrection^(A)

²¹ From that time Jesus began ^(B)to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.

¹² Then He answered and told them, “Indeed, Elijah is coming first and restores all things. And ^(A)how is it written concerning the Son of Man, that He must suffer many things and ^(B)be treated with contempt?

⁴⁴ Then He said to them, ^(A)“These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” ⁴⁵ And ^(B)He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

⁴⁶ Then He said to them, ^(C)“Thus it is written, ^[a]and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,

³¹ And ^(B)He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be ^(C)rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be ^(D)killed, and after three days rise again.

^18 (A)“Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, ^19 (B)and deliver Him to the Gentiles to ^(C)mock and to ^(D)scourge and to ^(E)crucify. And the third day He will ^(F)rise again.”

^26 (A)Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His ^(B)glory?”

^2 (A)“You know that after two days is the Passover, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.”

^28 (A)just as the ^(B)Son of Man did not come to be served, ^(C)but to serve, and ^(D)to give His life a ransom ^(E)for many.”
