²⁰ And they brought the boy to him. And when the spirit saw him, immediately it ^(A)convulsed the boy, and he fell on the ground and rolled about, foaming at the mouth.

²⁶ And the unclean spirit, ^(A)convulsing him and ^(B)crying out with a loud voice, came out of him.

³⁵ But Jesus ^(A)rebuked him, saying, “Be silent and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him down in their midst, he came out of him, having done him no harm.

^8 (A)Be sober-minded; ^(B)be watchful. Your ^(C)adversary the devil ^(D)prowls around ^(E)like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

^44 (A)You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. ^(B)He was a murderer from the beginning, and ^(C)does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. ^(D)When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

⁴² While he was coming, the demon threw him to the ground and convulsed him. But Jesus ^(A)rebuked the unclean spirit and healed the boy, and ^(B)gave him back to his father.

²⁹ For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. (For many a time it had seized him. He was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon ^(A)into the desert.)

²⁶ And after crying out and ^(A)convulsing him terribly, it came out, and the boy was like a corpse, so that most of them said, “He is dead.”

¹⁸ And whenever it seizes him, it throws him down, and he foams and grinds his teeth and becomes rigid. So I asked your disciples to cast it out, and ^(A)they were not able.”

^3 (A)He lived among the tombs. And no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain, ⁴ for he had often been bound with shackles and chains, but he wrenched the chains apart, and he broke the shackles in pieces. No one had the strength to subdue him. ⁵ Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always crying out and cutting himself with stones.
