14 And they had forgotten to take bread, and did not have more than one loaf in the boat with them. 15 And He was giving orders to them, saying, “(A)Watch out! Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of (B)Herod.” 16 And they began to discuss with one another the fact that they had no bread. 17 And Jesus, aware of this, *said to them, “Why do you discuss the fact that you have no bread? (C)Do you not yet perceive or understand? Do you have a hardened heart? 18 (D)Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember, 19 when I broke (E)the five loaves for the five thousand, how many (F)baskets full of broken pieces you picked up?” They *said to Him, “Twelve.” 20 “When I broke (G)the seven for the four thousand, how many large (H)baskets full of broken pieces did you pick up?” And they *said to Him, “Seven.” 21 And He was saying to them, “(I)Do you not yet understand?”

14 The disciples had forgotten to take bread and had only one loaf with them in the boat. 15 Then(A) he gave them strict orders: “Watch out! Beware of the leaven[a](B) of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.”(C) 16 They were discussing among themselves that they did not have any bread. 17 Aware of this, he said to them, “Why are you discussing the fact you have no bread? Don’t you understand or comprehend? Do you have hardened hearts?(D) 18 Do you have eyes and not see; do you have ears and not hear?[b](E) And do you not remember?(F) 19 When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of leftovers did you collect?”
“Twelve,” they told him.
20 “When I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many baskets full of pieces did you collect?”
“Seven,” they said.
21 And he said to them, “Don’t you understand yet?” (G)
