Four Thousand Men Fed

8 In those days, (A)when there was again a large crowd and they had nothing to eat, Jesus summoned His disciples and *said to them, 2 “(B)I feel compassion for the [a]people because they have remained with Me for three days already and have nothing to eat. 3 And if I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way; and some of them have come from a great distance.” 4 And His disciples replied to Him, “Where will anyone be able to find enough [b]bread here in this desolate place to satisfy these people?” 5 And He was asking them, “How many loaves do you have?” And they said, “Seven.” 6 And He *directed the [c]people to recline on the ground; and taking the seven loaves, He gave thanks and broke them, and started giving them to His disciples to serve, and they served them to the [d]people. 7 They also had a few small fish; and (C)after He had blessed them, He told the disciples to serve these as well. 8 And they ate and were satisfied; and they picked up seven large (D)baskets full of what was left over of the broken pieces. 9 About four thousand [e]men were there; and He dismissed them. 10 And immediately He got into the boat with His disciples and came to the region of (E)Dalmanutha.

11 (F)And the Pharisees came out and began to argue with Him, (G)demanding from Him a [f]sign from heaven, [g]to test Him. 12 (H)Sighing deeply in His spirit, He *said, “Why does this generation demand a [h]sign? Truly I say to you, [i](I)no [j]sign will be given to this generation!” 13 And leaving them, He again embarked and went away to the other side.

14 And the disciples had forgotten to take bread, and did not have more than one loaf in the boat with them. 15 And He was giving orders to them, saying, “(J)Watch out! Beware of the [k]leaven of the Pharisees, and the leaven of (K)Herod.” 16 And they began to discuss with one another the fact that they had no bread. 17 And Jesus, aware of this, *said to them, “Why are you discussing the fact that you have no bread? (L)Do you not yet comprehend or understand? Do you still have your heart [l]hardened? 18 (M)Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember, 19 when I broke (N)the five loaves for the five thousand, how many (O)baskets full of broken pieces you picked up?” They *said to Him, “Twelve.” 20 “When I broke (P)the seven for the four thousand, how many large (Q)baskets full of broken pieces did you pick up?” And they *said to Him, “Seven.” 21 And He was saying to them, “(R)Do you not yet understand?”

22 And they *came to (S)Bethsaida. And some people *brought a man who was blind to [m]Jesus and *begged Him to (T)touch him. 23 Taking the man who was blind by the hand, He (U)brought him out of the village; and after (V)spitting in his eyes and (W)laying His hands on him, He asked him, “Do you see anything?” 24 And he [n]looked up and said, “I see people, for I see them like trees, walking around.” 25 Then again He laid His hands on his eyes; and he looked intently and was restored, and began to see everything clearly. 26 And He sent him to his home, saying, “Do not even enter (X)the village.”

Peter’s Confession of Christ

27 (Y)Jesus went out, along with His disciples, to the villages of (Z)Caesarea Philippi; and on the way He questioned His disciples, saying to them, “Who do people say that I am?” 28 (AA)They told Him, saying, “John the Baptist; and others say Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.” 29 And He continued questioning them: “But who do you say that I am?” (AB)Peter answered and *said to Him, “You are the [o]Christ.” 30 And (AC)He [p]warned them to tell no one about Him.

31 (AD)And He began to teach them that (AE)the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise from the dead. 32 And He was stating the matter (AF)plainly. And Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. 33 But turning around and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter and *said, “Get behind Me, (AG)Satan; for you are not setting your mind on [q]God’s purposes, but on man’s.”

34 And He summoned the crowd together with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, (AH)take up his cross, and follow Me. 35 For (AI)whoever wants to save his [r]life will lose it, but whoever loses his [s]life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. 36 For what does it benefit a person to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? 37 For what could a person give in exchange for his soul? 38 For (AJ)whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, (AK)the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He (AL)comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”

8 En aquellos días, cuando había de nuevo una gran multitud que no tenía qué comer, (A)Jesús llamó a Sus discípulos y les dijo*: 2 «Tengo compasión de la multitud porque ya hace tres días que están junto a Mí y no tienen qué comer(B); 3 y si los despido sin comer a sus casas, desfallecerán en el camino, pues algunos de ellos han venido de lejos».

4 Sus discípulos le respondieron: «¿Dónde podrá alguien encontrar lo suficiente para saciar de pan[a] a estos aquí en el desierto?». 5 «¿Cuántos panes tienen?», les preguntó[b] Jesús. Ellos respondieron: «Siete».

6 Entonces mandó* a la multitud que se recostara en el suelo; y tomando los siete panes, después de dar gracias, los partió y los iba dando a Sus discípulos para que los pusieran delante de la gente; y ellos los sirvieron a[c] la multitud. 7 También tenían unos pocos pececillos; y después de bendecirlos(C), mandó que estos también los sirvieran[d].

8 Todos comieron y se saciaron; y recogieron de lo que sobró de los pedazos, siete canastas(D). 9 Los que comieron eran unos 4,000. Jesús los despidió, 10 y subiendo enseguida a la barca con Sus discípulos, se fue a la región de Dalmanuta(E).

Los fariseos buscan señal

11 (F)Entonces salieron los fariseos y comenzaron a discutir con Él, buscando de Él una señal[e] del cielo(G) para poner[f] a prueba a Jesús. 12 Suspirando profundamente(H) en Su espíritu[g], dijo*: «¿Por qué pide señal[h](I)esta generación? En verdad les digo que no se le dará señal[i]a esta generación». 13 Y dejándolos, se embarcó otra vez y se fue al otro lado del lago.

La levadura de los fariseos

14 Los discípulos se habían olvidado de tomar panes, y no tenían consigo en la barca sino solo un pan. 15 Jesús les encargaba[j] diciendo: «¡Tengan cuidado! Cuídense de la levadura de los fariseos(J)y de la levadura de Herodes(K)». 16 Y ellos discutían entre sí que no tenían panes.

17 Dándose cuenta Jesús, les dijo*: «¿Por qué discuten que no tienen panes? ¿Aún no comprenden ni entienden? ¿Tienen el corazón endurecido[k](L)? 18 Teniendo ojos, ¿no ven? Y teniendo oídos, ¿no oyen(M)? ¿No recuerdan 19 cuando partí los cinco panes entre los cinco mil(N)? ¿Cuántas cestas llenas de pedazos recogieron?». «Doce(O)», le respondieron*.

20 «Y cuando partí los siete panes entre los cuatro mil(P) , ¿cuántas canastas llenas de los pedazos recogieron?». «Siete(Q)», le dijeron*. 21 Entonces les dijo[l]: «¿Aún no entienden(R)?».

El ciego de Betsaida

22 Llegaron* a Betsaida(S), y trajeron* a Jesús un ciego y le rogaron* que lo tocara(T). 23 Tomando al ciego de la mano, lo sacó fuera de la aldea; y después de escupir(U) en sus ojos y de poner las manos sobre él(V), le preguntó: «¿Ves algo?».

24 Y levantando[m] la vista, dijo: «Veo a los hombres, pero los veo[n] como árboles que caminan». 25 Entonces Jesús puso otra vez las manos sobre sus ojos, y él miró fijamente y fue restaurado; y veía todo con claridad. 26 Y lo envió a su casa diciendo: «Ni aun en la aldea entres(W)».

La confesión de Pedro

27 (X)Jesús salió con Sus discípulos a las aldeas de Cesarea de Filipo(Y); y en el camino preguntó a Sus discípulos: «¿Quién dicen los hombres que soy Yo?». 28 Le respondieron: «Unos, Juan el Bautista; y otros, Elías; pero otros, uno de los profetas(Z)». 29 Él les preguntó de nuevo: «Pero ustedes, ¿quién dicen que soy Yo?». «Tú eres el Cristo[o]», le respondió* Pedro(AA). 30 Y Jesús les advirtió severamente que no hablaran de Él a nadie(AB).

Jesús anuncia Su muerte y resurrección

31 (AC)Jesús comenzó a enseñarles que el Hijo del Hombre debía padecer muchas cosas, y ser rechazado por los ancianos, los principales sacerdotes y los escribas, y ser muerto, y después de tres días resucitar(AD). 32 Y les decía estas palabras claramente(AE). Entonces Pedro lo llevó aparte y comenzó a reprender a Jesús. 33 Pero Él volviéndose y mirando a Sus discípulos, reprendió a Pedro y le dijo*: «¡Quítate de delante de Mí[p], Satanás(AF)!, porque no tienes en mente las cosas de Dios, sino las de los hombres».

Condiciones para seguir a Jesús

34 Llamando Jesús a la multitud y a Sus discípulos, les dijo: «Si alguien quiere venir conmigo, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz, y sígame(AG). 35 Porque el que quiera salvar su vida[q], la perderá; pero el que pierda su vida por causa de Mí y del evangelio, la salvará(AH). 36 O, ¿de qué le sirve a un hombre ganar el mundo entero y perder su alma? 37 O, ¿qué dará un hombre a cambio de su alma? 38 Porque cualquiera que se avergüence de Mí y de Mis palabras en esta generación adúltera y pecadora, el Hijo del Hombre(AI)también se avergonzará(AJ)de él, cuando venga en la gloria de Su Padre con los santos ángeles(AK)».

8 那些日子，又有一大群人聚集，他們沒有甚麼東西吃。耶穌叫門徒來，對他們說： 2 “我憐憫這一群人，因為他們和我在一起已經有三天，沒有甚麼吃的了。 3 如果我叫他們散開，餓著肚子回家去，他們會在路上暈倒，因為有人是從很遠的地方來的。” 4 門徒回答：“在這曠野地方，從哪裡能找食物叫這些人吃飽呢？” 5 他問他們：“你們有多少餅？”他們說：“七個。” 6 耶穌吩咐群眾坐在地上；拿起那七個餅，祝謝了，擘開遞給門徒，叫他們擺開；門徒就擺在眾人面前， 7 他們還有幾條小魚，耶穌祝了福，就吩咐把這些也擺開。 8 眾人都吃了，並吃飽了。他們把剩下的零碎收拾起來，裝滿了七個大籃子。 9 當時人數約有四千。耶穌解散了群眾， 10 就立刻和門徒上了船，來到大瑪努他地區。

求耶穌顯神蹟(B)

11 法利賽人出來，跟耶穌辯論；他們想試探他，求他顯個從天上來的神蹟。 12 耶穌靈裡深深地歎息，說：“這世代為甚麼總是尋求神蹟？我實在告訴你們，決不會有神蹟顯給這個世代的！” 13 於是他離開他們，又上船往對岸去了。

提防法利賽人和希律的酵(C)

14 門徒忘了帶餅，船上除了一個餅，身邊沒有別的了。 15 耶穌囑咐他們說：“你們要小心，提防法利賽人的酵和希律的酵！” 16 門徒彼此議論說：“這是因為我們沒有餅吧？” 17 耶穌知道了，就說：“為甚麼議論沒有餅這件事呢？你們還不知道，還不明白嗎？你們的心還是這麼遲鈍嗎？ 18 你們有眼不能看，有耳不能聽嗎？你們不記得嗎？ 19 我擘開那五個餅給五千人吃，你們收拾的零碎裝滿了幾個籃子呢？”他們說：“十二個。” 20 “那七個餅分給四千人吃，你們收拾的零碎裝滿了幾個大籃子呢？”他們說：“七個。” 21 耶穌說：“你們還不明白嗎？”

治好伯賽大瞎眼的人

22 後來他們到了伯賽大，有人帶了一個瞎眼的人到他跟前，求耶穌摸他。 23 耶穌拉著他的手，領他到村外，吐唾沫在他的眼睛上，又用雙手按在他的身上，問他：“你看見甚麼沒有？” 24 他往上一看，說：“我看見人了！看見他們好像樹走來走去。” 25 於是耶穌再按手在他的眼睛上，他定睛一看，就復原了，樣樣都看得清楚了。 26 耶穌叫他回家去，說：“連這村子你也不要進去。”

彼得承認耶穌是基督(D)

27 耶穌和門徒出去，要到該撒利亞．腓立比附近的村莊。在路上他問門徒說：“人說我是誰？” 28 他們回答：“有人說是施洗的約翰；有人說是以利亞；還有人說是先知裡的一位。” 29 他又問他們說：“那麼你們呢？你們說我是誰？”彼得回答：“你就是基督。” 30 耶穌鄭重地囑咐他們，不要把他的事告訴人。

耶穌預言受難及復活(E)

31 於是他教導他們，人子必須受許多苦，被長老、祭司長和經學家棄絕、殺害，三天後復活。 32 耶穌坦白地說了這話，彼得就把他拉到一邊，責怪他。 33 耶穌轉過身來，望著門徒，斥責彼得說：“撒但，退到我後面去！因為你不思念　神的事，只思念人的事。” 34 於是把眾人和門徒都叫過來，對他們說：“如果有人願意跟從我，就應當捨己，背起他的十字架來跟從我。 35 凡是想救自己生命的，必喪掉生命；但為我和福音犧牲生命的，必救了生命。 36 人就是賺得全世界，卻賠上自己的生命，有甚麼好處呢？ 37 人還能用甚麼換回自己的生命呢？ 38 在淫亂罪惡的世代，凡把我和我的道當作可恥的，人子在他父的榮耀裡，和聖天使一起降臨的時候，也必把他當作可恥的。”
