Jesus Foretells His Death and Resurrection
31 Then he began to teach them that the Son of Man must undergo great suffering and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes and be killed and after three days rise again. 32 He said all this quite openly. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.(A) 33 But turning and looking at his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you are setting your mind not on divine things but on human things.”(B)
34 He called the crowd with his disciples and said to them, “If any wish to come[a] after me, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.(C) 35 For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake, and for the sake of the gospel,[b] will save it.(D) 36 For what will it profit them to gain the whole world and forfeit their life? 37 Indeed, what can they give in return for their life? 38 Those who are ashamed of me and of my words[c] in this adulterous and sinful generation, of them the Son of Man will also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”(E)

31 예수님은 [a]자기가 장로들과 대제사장들과 [b]율법학자들에게 많은 고난을 받고 죽음을 당했다가 3일 만에 다시 살아나야 할 것을 비로소 제자들에게 밝히기 시작하셨다.
32 예수님이 분명하게 이 말씀을 하시자 베드로가 예수님을 붙들고 그럴 수 없다고 말렸다.
33 그러나 예수님은 제자들을 돌아보시며 베드로에게 “사탄아, 썩 물러가거라! 네가 하나님의 일을 생각지 않고 사람의 일을 생각하고 있다” 하고 꾸짖으셨다.
34 그러고서 예수님은 제자들과 군중들을 불러모으시고 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “누구든지 나를 따라오려거든 자기를 버리고 제 십자가를 지고 나를 따르라.
35 자기 생명을 구하고자 하는 사람은 잃을 것이며 나와 [c]복음을 위해 자기 생명을 버리는 사람은 얻을 것이다.
36 사람이 온 세상을 얻고도 자기 생명을 잃으면 무슨 유익이 있겠느냐?
37 사람이 자기 생명을 무엇과 바꿀 수 있겠느냐?
38 누구든지 이 음란하고 죄 많은 세대에서 나와 내 말을 부끄러워하면 [d]나도 아버지의 영광으로 거룩한 천사들과 함께 올 때 그를 부끄러워할 것이다.”

31 從此，他教導他們說：「人子必須受許多的苦，被長老、祭司長和文士棄絕，並且被殺，三天後復活。」 32 耶穌明白地說了這話，彼得就拉着他，責備他。 33 耶穌轉過來看着門徒，斥責彼得說：「撒但，退到我後邊去！因為你不體會 神的心意，而是體會人的意思。」 34 於是他叫眾人和門徒來，對他們說：「若有人要跟從我，就當捨己，背起自己的十字架來跟從我。 35 因為凡要救自己生命的，必喪失生命；凡為我和福音喪失生命的，必救自己的生命。 36 人就是賺得全世界，賠上自己的生命，有甚麼益處呢？ 37 人還能拿甚麼換生命呢？ 38 凡在這淫亂罪惡的世代，把我和我的道當作可恥的，人子在他父的榮耀裏與聖天使一同來臨的時候，也要把那人當作可恥的。」
