32 And they *brought to Him one who was deaf and had difficulty speaking, and they *begged Him to (A)lay His hand on him. 33 And Jesus (B)took him aside from the crowd, by himself, and put His fingers in his ears, and after (C)spitting, He touched his tongue with the saliva; 34 and looking up to heaven with a deep (D)sigh, He *said to him, “Ephphatha!” that is, “Be opened!” 35 And his ears were opened, and the [a]impediment of his tongue was [b]removed, and he began speaking plainly. 36 And (E)He gave them orders not to tell anyone; but the more He ordered them, the more widely they (F)continued to proclaim it. 37 And they were utterly astonished, saying, “He has done all things well; He makes even those who are deaf hear, and those who are unable to talk, speak.”

Four Thousand Men Fed

In those days, (G)when there was again a large crowd and they had nothing to eat, Jesus summoned His disciples and *said to them, (H)I feel compassion for the [c]people because they have remained with Me for three days already and have nothing to eat. And if I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way; and some of them have come from a great distance.” And His disciples replied to Him, “Where will anyone be able to find enough [d]bread here in this desolate place to satisfy these people?” And He was asking them, “How many loaves do you have?” And they said, “Seven.” And He *directed the [e]people to recline on the ground; and taking the seven loaves, He gave thanks and broke them, and started giving them to His disciples to serve, and they served them to the [f]people. They also had a few small fish; and (I)after He had blessed them, He told the disciples to serve these as well. And they ate and were satisfied; and they picked up seven large (J)baskets full of what was left over of the broken pieces. About four thousand [g]men were there; and He dismissed them.

32 Then (A)they brought to Him one who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech, and they begged Him to put His hand on him. 33 And He took him aside from the multitude, and put His fingers in his ears, and (B)He spat and touched his tongue. 34 Then, (C)looking up to heaven, (D)He sighed, and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.”

35 (E)Immediately his ears were opened, and the [a]impediment of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plainly. 36 Then (F)He commanded them that they should tell no one; but the more He commanded them, the more widely they proclaimed it. 37 And they were (G)astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. Feeding the Four Thousand(I)

In those days, (J)the multitude being very great and having nothing to eat, Jesus called His disciples to Him and said to them, “I have (K)compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat. And if I send them away hungry to their own houses, they will faint on the way; for some of them have come from afar.”

Then His disciples answered Him, “How can one satisfy these people with bread here in the wilderness?”

(L)He asked them, “How many loaves do you have?”

And they said, “Seven.”

So He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. And He took the seven loaves and gave thanks, broke them and gave them to His disciples to set before them; and they set them before the multitude. They also had a few small fish; and (M)having blessed them, He said to set them also before them. So they ate and were filled, and they took up seven large baskets of leftover fragments. Now those who had eaten were about four thousand. And He sent them away,
