Jesus Heals a Deaf Man

31 (A)Then he returned from the region of Tyre and went through Sidon to (B)the Sea of Galilee, in the region of the (C)Decapolis. 32 And they brought to him (D)a man who was deaf and (E)had a speech impediment, and they begged him to (F)lay his hand on him. 33 And (G)taking him aside from the crowd privately, he put his fingers into his ears, and (H)after spitting touched his tongue. 34 And (I)looking up to heaven, (J)he sighed and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.” 35 (K)And his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly. 36 And (L)Jesus[a] charged them to tell no one. But (M)the more he charged them, the more zealously they proclaimed it. 37 And they were (N)astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”

Jesus Does Everything Well

After putting his fingers in the man’s ears and spitting,(G) he touched his tongue. 34 Looking up to heaven,(H) he sighed deeply and said to him, “Ephphatha!”[b] (that is, “Be opened!”). 35 Immediately his ears were opened,(I) his tongue was loosened, and he began to speak clearly.(J) 36 He ordered them to tell no one,(K) but the more he ordered them, the more they proclaimed it.(L)

37 They were extremely astonished and said, “He has done everything well.(M) He even makes the deaf(N) hear and the mute speak.”(O)
