Mark 7:5-9

⁵Then the Pharisees^(A) and the scribes^(B) asked Him, “Why don’t Your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders,^(C) instead of eating bread with ritually unclean^[a] hands?”

⁶He answered them, “Isaiah^(D) prophesied^(E) correctly about you hypocrites,^(F) as it is written:^(G)

These people honor^(H) Me with their lips,
but their heart is far from Me.
⁷They worship Me in vain,
teaching^(I) as doctrines^(J) the commands^(K) of men.^(L)^[b]

⁸Disregarding the command of God, you keep the tradition of men.”^[c] ⁹He also said to them, “You completely invalidate God’s command in order to maintain^[d] your tradition!
