The Twelve Sent Out

(A)And (B)He *summoned the twelve and began to send them out (C)in pairs, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits; (D)and He instructed them that they were to take nothing for their journey, except a mere staff—no bread, no [a]bag, no money in their belt— but [b]to wear sandals; and He added, “Do not wear two [c]tunics.” 10 And He said to them, “Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you [d]leave town. 11 Any place that does not receive you or listen to you, as you go out from there, (E)shake the dust [e]off the soles of your feet as a testimony against them.” 12 (F)And they went out and [f]preached that people are to repent. 13 And they were casting out many demons and (G)were anointing with oil many sick people and healing them.

Jesus Sends Out the Twelve(A)

He called the Twelve and began to send them out two by two, giving them authority over unclean spirits. He instructed them to take nothing along on the trip except a walking stick—no bread, no traveling bag, nothing in their moneybag. They could wear sandals but not take along an extra shirt.[a] 10 He told them repeatedly, “Whenever you go into a home, stay there until you leave that place. 11 If any place will not welcome you and the people[b] refuse to listen to you, when you leave, shake its dust off your feet as a testimony against them.” 12 So they went and preached that people[c] should repent. 13 They also kept driving out many demons and anointing with oil many who were sick, and healing them.
