Jesus Sends Out the Twelve Apostles

⁷^(A)And he called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. ⁸He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in their belts— ⁹but to ^(B)wear sandals and not put on two tunics.^[a] ¹⁰And he said to them, “Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you depart from there. ¹¹And if any place will not receive you and they will not listen to you, when you leave, ^(C)shake off the dust that is on your feet ^(D)as a testimony against them.” ¹²^(E)So they went out and ^(F)proclaimed ^(G)that people should repent. ¹³^(H)And they cast out many demons and ^(I)anointed with oil many who were sick and healed them.

⁷And he called his twelve disciples together and began sending them out two by two, giving them authority to cast out evil^[a] spirits. ⁸He told them to take nothing for their journey except a walking stick—no food, no traveler’s bag, no money.^[b] ⁹He allowed them to wear sandals but not to take a change of clothes.

¹⁰“Wherever you go,” he said, “stay in the same house until you leave town. ¹¹But if any place refuses to welcome you or listen to you, shake its dust from your feet as you leave to show that you have abandoned those people to their fate.”

¹²So the disciples went out, telling everyone they met to repent of their sins and turn to God. ¹³And they cast out many demons and healed many sick people, anointing them with olive oil.

⁸And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:

⁹But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.

¹⁰And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.

¹¹And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

¹²And they went out, and preached that men should repent.

⁸He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a walking stick—no bread, ^[a]no wallet for a collection bag, no money in their belts (girdles, purses)—

⁹But to go with sandals on their feet and not to put on two tunics (undergarments).

¹⁰And He told them, Wherever you go into a house, stay there until you leave that place.

¹¹And if any community will not receive and accept and welcome you, and they refuse to listen to you, when you depart, shake off the dust that is on your feet, for a testimony against them. ^[b]Truly I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the judgment day than for that town.

¹²So they went out and preached that men should repent [^[c]that they should change their minds for the better and heartily amend their ways, with abhorrence of their past sins].

¹³And they drove out many unclean spirits and anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.
