^10 (B)And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. ^(C)Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.

¹⁸ And when they had come to him, he said to them: “You know, ^(A)from the first day that I came to Asia, in what manner I always lived among you, ¹⁹ serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials which happened to me ^(B)by the plotting of the Jews; ²⁰ how ^(C)I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house, ^21 (D)testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, ^(E)repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

² Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, ^(A)who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

¹⁰ It was Mary Magdalene, ^(A)Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them, who told these things to the apostles.

^14 (A)When the hour had come, He sat down, and the ^[a]twelve apostles with Him.

⁵ And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”

Sending Out the Twelve^(A)

^7 (B)And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out ^(C)two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits. ⁸ He commanded them to take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bag, no bread, no copper in their money belts— ⁹ but ^(D)to wear sandals, and not to put on two tunics.

^10 (E)Also He said to them, “In whatever place you enter a house, stay there till you depart from that place. ^11 (F)And ^[a]whoever will not receive you nor hear you, when you depart from there, ^(G)shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them. ^[b]Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!”

¹² So they went out and preached that people should repent. ¹³ And they cast out many demons, ^(H)and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.

⁶ Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded, ⁷ in all things showing yourself to be ^(A)a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, ^(B)incorruptibility,^[a]
