²⁹ When his disciples heard about it, they came and took his body and laid it in a tomb.

¹² His disciples came and took the body and buried him; then they went and told Jesus.

¹⁶ And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel and for God and his house.^(A)

The Burial of Jesus

⁵⁷ When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea named Joseph, who also was himself a disciple of Jesus.^{(A) 58} He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus; then Pilate ordered it to be given to him. ⁵⁹ So Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth ⁶⁰ and laid it in his new tomb, which he had hewn in the rock. He then rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb and went away.^(B)

²⁹ The prophet took up the body of the man of God, laid it on the donkey, and brought it back to the city^[a] to mourn and to bury him. ³⁰ He laid the body in his own grave, and they mourned over him, saying, “Alas, my brother!”^(A)
