²⁹ When John’s disciples heard what had happened, they came to get his body and buried it in a tomb.

¹² Later, John’s disciples came for his body and buried it. Then they went and told Jesus what had happened.

¹⁶ He was buried among the kings in the City of David, because he had done so much good in Israel for God and his Temple.

² (Some devout men came and buried Stephen with great mourning.)

The Burial of Jesus

⁵⁷ As evening approached, Joseph, a rich man from Arimathea who had become a follower of Jesus, ⁵⁸ went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. And Pilate issued an order to release it to him. ⁵⁹ Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a long sheet of clean linen cloth. ⁶⁰ He placed it in his own new tomb, which had been carved out of the rock. Then he rolled a great stone across the entrance and left.

²⁹ So the prophet laid the body of the man of God on the donkey and took it back to the town to mourn over him and bury him. ³⁰ He laid the body in his own grave, crying out in grief, “Oh, my brother!”
