²³ And he swore^[a] to her, “Whatever you ask me, I will give you, even half of my kingdom.”^(A)

² On the second day, as they were drinking wine, the king again said to Esther, “What is your petition, Queen Esther? It shall be granted you. And what is your request? Even to half of my kingdom, it shall be fulfilled.”^(A)

³ The king said to her, “What is it, Queen Esther? What is your request? Even to half of my kingdom, it shall be given you.”^(A)

⁶ While they were drinking wine, the king said to Esther, “What is your petition? It shall be granted you. And what is your request? Even to half of my kingdom, it shall be fulfilled.”^(A)

⁷ so much that he promised on oath to grant her whatever she might ask.

³⁴ But I say to you: Do not swear at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God,^{(A) 35} or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. ³⁶ And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. ³⁷ Let your word be ‘Yes, Yes’ or ‘No, No’; anything more than this comes from the evil one.^[a]

⁹ and he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.”

³¹ and he said, “So may God do to me and more, if the head of Elisha son of Shaphat stays on his shoulders today.”^(A)

¹⁰ But Saul swore to her by the Lord, “As the Lord lives, no punishment shall come upon you for this thing.”
