¹⁸ Because John had said to Herod, ^(A)“It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”

²¹ If a man takes his ^(A)brother’s wife, it is an ^[a]unclean thing. He has uncovered his brother’s nakedness. They shall be childless.

¹⁶ You shall not uncover the nakedness of your brother’s wife; it is your brother’s nakedness.

¹⁸ When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man ^(A)shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. ¹⁹ Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; ^(B)but you have delivered your soul.

¹⁴ And Micaiah said, “As the Lord lives, ^(A)whatever the Lord says to me, that I will speak.”

²⁴ And after some days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, he sent for Paul and heard him concerning the ^(A)faith in Christ. ²⁵ Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, “Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you.” ²⁶ Meanwhile he also hoped that ^(B)money would be given him by Paul, ^[a]that he might release him. Therefore he sent for him more often and conversed with him.

²⁶ Therefore I testify to you this day that I am ^(A)innocent^[a] of the blood of all men. ²⁷ For I have not ^[b]shunned to declare to you ^(B)the whole counsel of God.

^3 (A)For Herod had laid hold of John and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife. ⁴ Because John had said to him, ^(B)“It is not lawful for you to have her.”
