A Demon-Possessed Man Healed(A)
5 Then (B)they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the [a]Gadarenes. 2 And when He had come out of the boat, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an (C)unclean spirit, 3 who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no one could bind [b]him, not even with chains, 4 because he had often been bound with shackles and chains. And the chains had been pulled apart by him, and the shackles broken in pieces; neither could anyone tame him. 5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones.
6 When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him. 7 And he cried out with a loud voice and said, “What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I (D)implore[c] You by God that You do not torment me.”
8 For He said to him, (E)“Come out of the man, unclean spirit!” 9 Then He asked him, “What is your name?”
And he answered, saying, “My name is Legion; for we are many.” 10 Also he begged Him earnestly that He would not send them out of the country.
11 Now a large herd of (F)swine was feeding there near the mountains. 12 So all the demons begged Him, saying, “Send us to the swine, that we may enter them.” 13 And [d]at once Jesus gave them permission. Then the unclean spirits went out and entered the swine (there were about two thousand); and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the sea, and drowned in the sea.
14 So those who fed the swine fled, and they told it in the city and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that had happened. 15 Then they came to Jesus, and saw the one who had been (G)demon-possessed and had the legion, (H)sitting and (I)clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid. 16 And those who saw it told them how it happened to him who had been demon-possessed, and about the swine. 17 Then (J)they began to plead with Him to depart from their region.
18 And when He got into the boat, (K)he who had been demon-possessed begged Him that he might be with Him. 19 However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.” 20 And he departed and began to (L)proclaim in [e]Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all (M)marveled.
A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed(N)
21 (O)Now when Jesus had crossed over again by boat to the other side, a great multitude gathered to Him; and He was by the sea. 22 (P)And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name. And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet 23 and begged Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and (Q)lay Your hands on her, that she may be healed, and she will live.” 24 So Jesus went with him, and a great multitude followed Him and thronged Him.
25 Now a certain woman (R)had a flow of blood for twelve years, 26 and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and (S)touched His garment. 28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
29 Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the [f]affliction. 30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that (T)power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?”
31 But His disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ”
32 And He looked around to see her who had done this thing. 33 But the woman, (U)fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. 34 And He said to her, “Daughter, (V)your faith has made you well. (W)Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”
35 (X)While He was still speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?”
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only (Y)believe.” 37 And He permitted no one to follow Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James. 38 Then He came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and saw [g]a tumult and those who (Z)wept and wailed loudly. 39 When He came in, He said to them, “Why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead, but (AA)sleeping.”
40 And they ridiculed Him. (AB)But when He had put them all outside, He took the father and the mother of the child, and those who were with Him, and entered where the child was lying. 41 Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” 42 Immediately the girl arose and walked, for she was twelve years of age. And they were (AC)overcome with great amazement. 43 But (AD)He commanded them strictly that no one should know it, and said that something should be given her to eat.

The Gerasene Demoniac
5 (A)They came to the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gerasenes. 2 When He got out of (B)the boat, immediately a man from the tombs (C)with an unclean spirit met Him, 3 and he had his dwelling among the tombs. And no one was able to bind him anymore, even with a chain; 4 because he had often been bound with shackles and chains, and the chains had been torn apart by him and the shackles broken in pieces, and no one was strong enough to subdue him. 5 Constantly, night and day, he was screaming among the tombs and in the mountains, and gashing himself with stones. 6 Seeing Jesus from a distance, he ran up and bowed down before Him; 7 and shouting with a loud voice, he *said, “[a](D)What business do we have with each other, Jesus, (E)Son of (F)the Most High God? I implore You by God, do not torment me!” 8 For He had been saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” 9 And He was asking him, “What is your name?” And he *said to Him, “My name is (G)Legion; for we are many.” 10 And he began to implore Him earnestly not to send them out of the country. 11 Now there was a large herd of swine feeding [b]nearby on the mountain. 12 The demons implored Him, saying, “Send us into the swine so that we may enter them.” 13 Jesus gave them permission. And coming out, the unclean spirits entered the swine; and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, about two thousand of them; and they were drowned in the sea.
14 Their herdsmen ran away and reported it in the city and in the country. And the people came to see what it was that had happened. 15 They *came to Jesus and *observed the man who had been (H)demon-possessed sitting down, (I)clothed and (J)in his right mind, the very man who had had the “(K)legion”; and they became frightened. 16 Those who had seen it described to them how it had happened to the (L)demon-possessed man, and all about the swine. 17 And they began to (M)implore Him to leave their region. 18 (N)As He was getting into the boat, the man who had been (O)demon-possessed was imploring Him that he might [c]accompany Him. 19 And He did not let him, but He *said to him, “(P)Go home to your people and report to them [d]what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He had mercy on you.” 20 And he went away and began to (Q)proclaim in (R)Decapolis [e]what great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed.
Miracles and Healing
21 (S)When Jesus had crossed over again in (T)the boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered around Him; and so He [f]stayed (U)by the seashore. 22 (V)One of (W)the synagogue [g]officials named Jairus *came up, and on seeing Him, *fell at His feet 23 and *implored Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death; please come and (X)lay Your hands on her, so that she will [h]get well and live.” 24 And He went off with him; and a large crowd was following Him and pressing in on Him.
25 A woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years, 26 and had endured much at the hands of many physicians, and had spent all that she had and was not helped at all, but rather had grown worse— 27 after hearing about Jesus, she came up in the crowd behind Him and touched His [i]cloak. 28 For she [j]thought, “If I just touch His garments, I will [k]get well.” 29 Immediately the flow of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her (Y)affliction. 30 Immediately Jesus, perceiving in Himself that (Z)the power proceeding from Him had gone forth, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My garments?” 31 And His disciples said to Him, “You see the crowd pressing in on You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’” 32 And He looked around to see the woman who had done this. 33 But the woman fearing and trembling, aware of what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. 34 And He said to her, “Daughter, (AA)your faith has [l]made you well; (AB)go in peace and be healed of your (AC)affliction.”
35 While He was still speaking, they *came from the house of the (AD)synagogue official, saying, “Your daughter has died; why trouble the Teacher anymore?” 36 But Jesus, overhearing what was being spoken, *said to the (AE)synagogue official, “(AF)Do not be afraid any longer, only [m]believe.” 37 And He allowed no one to accompany Him, except (AG)Peter and [n]James and John the brother of [o]James. 38 They *came to the house of the (AH)synagogue official; and He *saw a commotion, and people loudly weeping and wailing. 39 And entering in, He *said to them, “Why make a commotion and weep? The child has not died, but is asleep.” 40 They began laughing at Him. But putting them all out, He *took along the child’s father and mother and His own companions, and *entered the room where the child was. 41 Taking the child by the hand, He *said to her, “Talitha kum!” (which translated means, “Little girl, (AI)I say to you, get up!”). 42 Immediately the girl got up and began to walk, for she was twelve years old. And immediately they were completely astounded. 43 And He (AJ)gave them strict orders that no one should know about this, and He said that something should be given her to eat.

3 Человек этот жил в могильных пещерах, и никто не мог связать его даже цепями: 4 его уже много раз сковывали по рукам и ногам, но он всегда разрывал цепи и разбивал кандалы на ногах. Никто не мог усмирить его. 5 Днём и ночью он бродил среди могил и по горам и с диким криком бил себя камнями. 6 Увидев Исо издалека, он подбежал к Нему, поклонился 7 и закричал во весь голос:
– Что Ты от меня хочешь, Исо, Сын Бога Высочайшего (Царственный Спаситель)? Заклинаю Тебя Всевышним, не мучь меня, – 8 потому что Исо говорил ему: «Выйди, нечистый дух, из этого человека».
9 Исо спросил:
– Как тебя зовут?
– Меня зовут Полчище[a], – ответил он, – потому что нас много.
10 И он настойчиво умолял Исо не выгонять их из тех мест. 11 А там у горы в это время паслось большое стадо свиней, 12 и нечистые духи попросили Исо:
– Позволь нам войти в этих свиней.
13 Исо позволил, и нечистые духи, выйдя из человека, вошли в свиней. Всё стадо, около двух тысяч голов, тут же ринулось с обрыва в озеро и утонуло в нём. 14 А свинопасы побежали и рассказали о случившемся в городе и в окрестностях. Сбежался народ посмотреть, что произошло. 15 Подойдя к Исо, они увидели, что бывший одержимый, в котором было полчище демонов, сидит одетый и в здравом уме, и их охватил страх. 16 Очевидцы же рассказали им, как всё произошло с одержимым и со свиньями. 17 Тогда местные жители стали просить Исо покинуть их края. 18 Когда Исо садился в лодку, то человек, который был одержим демонами, стал просить, чтобы Он взял его с Собой, 19 но Исо отказал ему.
– Ступай домой к своим родным, – сказал Он, – и расскажи им, что сделал для тебя Вечный, и какую милость Он к тебе проявил.
20 Тот пошёл и стал рассказывать в области Десяти городов о том, что сделал для него Исо. Его рассказ приводил всех в изумление.

21 Когда Исо переправился в лодке обратно на другую сторону озера, вокруг Него на берегу собралась большая толпа. 22 Тут пришёл Иаир, один из начальников молитвенного дома иудеев. Он, увидев Исо, пал к Его ногам 23 и стал умолять:
– Моя маленькая дочь умирает, приди и возложи на неё руки, чтобы она исцелилась и осталась жива.
24 Исо пошёл с ним, а за Исо следовала большая толпа и теснила Его со всех сторон. 25 Там была женщина, двенадцать лет страдавшая кровотечением. 26 Она натерпелась от многих врачей, истратила на лечение всё, что у неё было, но не получила никакой помощи, напротив, ей становилось всё хуже. 27 Она слышала об Исо, и поэтому она подошла сзади к Нему сквозь толпу и прикоснулась к Его одежде.
28 «Если я хоть к одежде Его прикоснусь, то исцелюсь», – думала она. 29 Её кровотечение сразу же остановилось, и она почувствовала, что исцелена. 30 А Исо мгновенно почувствовал, что из Него вышла сила.
Он обернулся в толпе и спросил:
– Кто прикоснулся к Моей одежде?
31 Ученики ответили Ему:
– Ты же видишь, что толпа теснит Тебя со всех сторон. Что же Ты спрашиваешь, кто к Тебе прикоснулся?
32 Но Исо обводил толпу взглядом, чтобы увидеть ту, которая это сделала. 33 Женщина, дрожа от страха и зная, что с ней произошло, подошла, пала к Его ногам и рассказала всю правду. 34 Тогда Исо сказал ей:
– Дочь Моя, твоя вера исцелила тебя. Иди с миром и будь здорова от своего недуга.
35 Пока Исо ещё говорил, пришли люди из дома Иаира, начальника молитвенного дома, и передали:
– Твоя дочь умерла, зачем ещё беспокоить Учителя?
36 Но Исо, не обращая внимания на их слова, сказал начальнику молитвенного дома:
– Не бойся, только верь!
37 Он не позволил идти с Ним никому, кроме Петруса, Якуба и Иохана, брата Якуба. 38 Когда они вошли в дом начальника, Он увидел смятение. Люди плакали и причитали. 39 Исо вошёл в дом и спросил их:
– Почему вы так скорбите и плачете? Девочка не умерла, она спит.
40 Над Ним начали смеяться. Но Исо велел всем выйти, а Сам с отцом и матерью девочки и Своими спутниками вошёл в комнату, где она лежала. 41 Взяв её за руку, Исо сказал:
– Талета куми!
Это значит: «Девочка, говорю тебе: встань!»
42 Девочка сразу встала и начала ходить (ей было лет двенадцать). Все были сильно удивлены. 43 Но Исо строго наказал им, чтобы никто не узнал о случившемся, а девочку велел покормить.
