³⁶ Overhearing^[a] what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”

⁵⁰ Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”

²⁸ When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”

“Yes, Lord,” they replied.^(A)

²⁹ Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”;^(B)

⁴⁰ Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe,^(A) you will see the glory of God?”^(B)

²³ “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”^(A)

¹⁸ Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations,^(A) just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”^{[a](B) 19} Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead^(C)—since he was about a hundred years old^(D)—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead.^{(E) 20} Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened^(F) in his faith and gave glory to God,^{(G) 21} being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.^{(H) 22} This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.”^{(I) 23} The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, ²⁴ but also for us,^(J) to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him^(K) who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.^(L)

³⁴ He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you.^(A) Go in peace^(B) and be freed from your suffering.”

⁴⁸ “Unless you people see signs and wonders,”^(A) Jesus told him, “you will never believe.”

⁴⁹ The royal official said, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”

⁵⁰ “Go,” Jesus replied, “your son will live.”

The man took Jesus at his word and departed.

²⁰ He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith^(A) as small as a mustard seed,^(B) you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move.^(C) Nothing will be impossible for you.”
