²⁹ he made the storm be still,
    and the waves of the sea were hushed.^(A)

⁹ You rule the raging of the sea;
    when its waves rise, you still them.^(A)

⁷ You silence the roaring of the seas,
    the roaring of their waves,
    the tumult of the peoples.^(A)

²² Do you not fear me? says the Lord;
    Do you not tremble before me?
I placed the sand as a boundary for the sea,
    a perpetual barrier that it cannot pass;
though the waves toss, they cannot prevail;
    though they roar, they cannot pass over it.^(A)

²⁹ when he assigned to the sea its limit,
    so that the waters might not transgress his command,
when he marked out the foundations of the earth,^(A)

⁸ fire and hail, snow and frost,
    stormy wind fulfilling his command!^(A)

⁷ At your rebuke they flee;
    at the sound of your thunder they take to flight.
⁸ They rose up to the mountains, ran down to the valleys,
    to the place that you appointed for them.^(A)
9 You set a boundary that they may not pass,
