² He taught them many things by parables,^(A) and in his teaching said:

¹¹ He told them, “The secret of the kingdom of God^(A) has been given to you. But to those on the outside^(B) everything is said in parables

²³ So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables:^(A) “How can Satan^(B) drive out Satan?

³⁴ Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable.^{(A) 35} So was fulfilled^(B) what was spoken through the prophet:

¹⁰ The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?”

³ Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed.

¹⁶ Jesus answered, “My teaching is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me.^{(A) 17} Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out^(B) whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.

Warning Against the Teachers of the Law

³⁸ As he taught, Jesus said, “Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted with respect in the marketplaces,

³³ With many similar parables Jesus spoke the word to them, as much as they could understand.^{(A) 34} He did not say anything to them without using a parable.^(B) But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.

²⁸ When Jesus had finished saying these things,^(A) the crowds were amazed at his teaching,^(B)
