15 These[a] are the ones along the path(A) where the word is sown: when they hear, immediately Satan(B) comes and takes away the word(C) sown in them.[b] 16 And these are[c] the ones sown on rocky ground: when they hear the word, immediately they receive it with joy.(D) 17 But they have no root in themselves; they are short-lived. When pressure(E) or persecution comes because of the word, they immediately stumble.(F)

As soon as they hear the message, they receive it gladly. 17 But it does not sink deep into them, and they don't last long. So when trouble or persecution comes because of the message, they give up at once.
