The Man with a Withered Hand
3 Again he entered the synagogue, and a man was there who had a withered hand.(A) 2 They were watching him to see whether he would cure him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse him.(B) 3 And he said to the man who had the withered hand, “Come forward.” 4 Then he said to them, “Is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent. 5 He looked around at them with anger; he was grieved at their hardness of heart and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored. 6 The Pharisees went out and immediately conspired with the Herodians against him, how to destroy him.(C)
A Multitude at the Seaside
7 Jesus departed with his disciples to the sea, and a great multitude from Galilee followed him;(D) 8 hearing all that he was doing, they came to him in great numbers from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, beyond the Jordan, and the region around Tyre and Sidon.(E) 9 He told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, so that they would not crush him, 10 for he had cured many, so that all who had diseases pressed upon him to touch him.(F) 11 Whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and shouted, “You are the Son of God!”(G) 12 But he sternly ordered them not to make him known.(H)
Jesus Appoints the Twelve
13 He went up the mountain and called to him those whom he wanted, and they came to him.(I) 14 And he appointed twelve[a] to be with him and to be sent out to preach 15 and to have authority to cast out demons. 16 So he appointed the twelve:[b] Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter),(J) 17 James son of Zebedee and John the brother of James (to whom he gave the name Boanerges, that is, Sons of Thunder), 18 and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Cananaean, 19 and Judas Iscariot, who handed him over.
Jesus and Beelzebul
20 Then he went home, and the crowd came together again, so that they could not even eat.(K) 21 When his family heard it, they went out to restrain him, for people were saying, “He has gone out of his mind.”(L) 22 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He has Beelzebul, and by the ruler of the demons he casts out demons.”(M) 23 And he called them to him and spoke to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan?(N) 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26 And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but his end has come. 27 But no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his property without first tying up the strong man; then indeed the house can be plundered.(O)
28 “Truly I tell you, people will be forgiven for their sins and whatever blasphemies they utter,(P) 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit can never have forgiveness but is guilty of an eternal sin”— 30 for they had said, “He has an unclean spirit.”
The True Kindred of Jesus
31 Then his mother and his brothers came, and standing outside they sent to him and called him.(Q) 32 A crowd was sitting around him, and they said to him, “Your mother and your brothers[c] are outside asking for you.” 33 And he replied, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” 34 And looking at those who sat around him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 35 Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.”

Jesus botar en man på sabbaten

3 En annan gång gick Jesus in i en synagoga, och där var en man som hade en förtvinad hand.
2 De höll noga ögonen på honom för att se om han skulle bota mannen på sabbaten, så att de skulle få något att anklaga honom för.
3 Men Jesus sa till mannen med den förtvinade handen: ”Res dig upp och kom hit fram.” 4 Sedan frågade han dem: ”Vad är tillåtet att göra på sabbaten, göra gott eller ont, rädda liv eller döda någon?” Men ingen ville säga något. 5 Då såg han på dem med vrede, djupt bedrövad över hårdheten i deras hjärtan. Sedan sa han till mannen: ”Räck fram din hand!” Och då mannen gjorde det, blev handen normal igen.
6 Men fariseerna gick ut och började genast göra upp planer tillsammans med Herodes anhängare[a] på hur de skulle få Jesus dödad.
Mycket folk följer Jesus

7 Jesus och hans lärjungar drog sig nu till sjön, och massor av människor från Galileen, men också från Judeen, 8 Jerusalem och Idumeen, från andra sidan Jordan och ända bortifrån Tyros och Sidon, följde honom när de hörde om allt han gjorde.
9 Jesus bad sina lärjungar att ha en båt färdig, för att han skulle slippa bli trängd av folkmassan. 10 Många människor hade blivit botade, och de sjuka trängde därför på från alla håll för att röra vid honom.
11 När de orena andarna fick syn på honom, föll de ner vid hans fötter och ropade: ”Du är Guds Son!” 12 Men Jesus förbjöd dem strängt att avslöja vem han var.
Jesus utser sina tolv lärjungar

13 Sedan gick Jesus upp på ett berg och tog med sig några som han hade valt ut. När de kom till honom, 14 utsåg han tolv av dem, som han kallade apostlar, till att följa honom och sändas ut för att predika, 15 och han gav dem makt att driva ut onda andar.[b] 16 De tolv han utsåg var: Simon, som han gav namnet Petrus, 17 Sebedaios söner Jakob och Johannes, som han kallade Boanerges, ”åsksönerna”, 18 Andreas, Filippos, Bartolomaios, Matteus, Tomas, Alfaios son Jakob, Taddaios, Simon ”den ivrige”[c] 19 och Judas Iskariot, som senare förrådde Jesus.
Jesus beskylls för att vara i förbund med djävulen

20 När Jesus kom hem, började folk att samlas igen, i en sådan mängd att varken han eller hans lärjungar ens fick tid att äta. 21 När hans familj fick höra det, gick de dit för att ta hand om honom. ”Han är från sina sinnen!” sa de.
22 Men de skriftlärda, som hade kommit från Jerusalem, sa: ”Han är besatt av Beelsebul[d]. Han driver ut de onda andarna med hjälp av de onda andarnas härskare.”
23 Jesus kallade då till sig dem och talade till dem i liknelser: ”Hur kan Satan driva ut Satan? 24 Ett rike där man strider mot varandra går ju under. 25 Och en familj där man strider mot varandra upphör snart att existera. 26 Om nu Satan är kluven och strider mot sig själv, då kan han inte bestå, utan det är snart ute med honom. 27 Ingen kan gå in i en stark mans hus och plundra honom på vad han äger utan att först binda honom. Sedan kan man plundra hans hus.
28 Sannerligen säger jag er: Människor kan få förlåtelse för alla slags synder och hädelser, hur mycket man än hädar. 29 Men den som hädar den heliga Anden kan aldrig i evighet få förlåtelse. Då gör man sig skyldig till en evig synd.”
30 De hade nämligen sagt att han hade en oren ande.[e]

31 Nu kom Jesus mor och hans bröder och stannade utanför och skickade bud till honom för att kalla på honom.
32 Skaran som satt runt Jesus sa då till honom: ”Din mor och dina bröder står här utanför och frågar efter dig.” 33 Men han svarade: ”Min mor och mina bröder! Vilka är det?” 34 Sedan såg han på dem som satt runt omkring honom och sa: ”Det här är min mor och mina syskon. 35 Var och en som gör Guds vilja är min bror och min syster och min mor.”

Jesus Heals on the Sabbath
3 Another time Jesus went into the synagogue,(A) and a man with a shriveled hand was there. 2 Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely(B) to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath.(C) 3 Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Stand up in front of everyone.”
4 Then Jesus asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent.
5 He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored. 6 Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians(D) how they might kill Jesus.(E)
Crowds Follow Jesus(F)
7 Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lake, and a large crowd from Galilee followed.(G) 8 When they heard about all he was doing, many people came to him from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, and the regions across the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon.(H) 9 Because of the crowd he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him, to keep the people from crowding him. 10 For he had healed many,(I) so that those with diseases were pushing forward to touch him.(J) 11 Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.”(K) 12 But he gave them strict orders not to tell others about him.(L)
Jesus Appoints the Twelve(M)

Jesus Accused by His Family and by Teachers of the Law(R)(S)
20 Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered,(T) so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat.(U) 21 When his family[b] heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”(V)
22 And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem(W) said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul!(X) By the prince of demons he is driving out demons.”(Y)
23 So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables:(Z) “How can Satan(AA) drive out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. 27 In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house.(AB) 28 Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”(AC)
30 He said this because they were saying, “He has an impure spirit.”
31 Then Jesus’ mother and brothers arrived.(AD) Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him. 32 A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, “Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you.”
33 “Who are my mother and my brothers?” he asked.
34 Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 35 Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”
