Healing on the Sabbath(A)
3 And (B)He entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a withered hand. 2 So they (C)watched Him closely, whether He would (D)heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might [a]accuse Him. 3 And He said to the man who had the withered hand, [b]“Step forward.” 4 Then He said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they kept silent. 5 And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the (E)hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored [c]as whole as the other. 6 (F)Then the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted with (G)the Herodians against Him, how they might destroy Him.
A Great Multitude Follows Jesus(H)
7 But Jesus withdrew with His disciples to the sea. And a great multitude from Galilee followed Him, (I)and from Judea 8 and Jerusalem and Idumea and beyond the Jordan; and those from Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they heard how (J)many things He was doing, came to Him. 9 So He told His disciples that a small boat should be kept ready for Him because of the multitude, lest they should crush Him. 10 For He healed (K)many, so that as many as had afflictions pressed about Him to (L)touch Him. 11 (M)And the unclean spirits, whenever they saw Him, fell down before Him and cried out, saying, (N)“You are the Son of God.” 12 But (O)He sternly warned them that they should not make Him known.
The Twelve Apostles(P)
13 (Q)And He went up on the mountain and called to Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him. 14 Then He appointed twelve, [d]that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, 15 and to have [e]power [f]to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons: 16 [g]Simon, (R)to whom He gave the name Peter; 17 James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James, to whom He gave the name Boanerges, that is, “Sons of Thunder”; 18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Cananite; 19 and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him. And they went into a house.
A House Divided Cannot Stand(S)
20 Then the multitude came together again, (T)so that they could not so much as eat bread. 21 But when His (U)own people heard about this, they went out to lay hold of Him, (V)for they said, “He is out of His mind.”
22 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, (W)“He has Beelzebub,” and, “By the (X)ruler of the demons He casts out demons.”
23 (Y)So He called them to Himself and said to them in parables: “How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but has an end. 27 (Z)No one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house.
The Unpardonable Sin(AA)
28 (AB)“Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; 29 but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation”— 30 because they (AC)said, “He has an unclean spirit.”
Jesus’ Mother and Brothers Send for Him(AD)
31 (AE)Then His brothers and His mother came, and standing outside they sent to Him, calling Him. 32 And a multitude was sitting around Him; and they said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers [h]are outside seeking You.”
33 But He answered them, saying, “Who is My mother, or My brothers?” 34 And He looked around in a circle at those who sat about Him, and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! 35 For whoever does the (AF)will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.”

A Great Crowd Follows Jesus
7 (K)Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the sea, and (L)a great crowd followed, from Galilee and Judea 8 and Jerusalem and (M)Idumea and from beyond the Jordan and from around (N)Tyre and Sidon. When the great crowd heard all that he was doing, they came to him. 9 And he told his disciples to (O)have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, lest they (P)crush him, 10 for (Q)he had healed many, so that all who had (R)diseases pressed around him (S)to touch him. 11 (T)And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they (U)fell down before him and cried out, “You are (V)the Son of God.” 12 And (W)he strictly ordered them not to make him known.

Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit
22 And (AK)the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, (AL)“He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “by the prince of demons he casts out the demons.” 23 (AM)And he called them to him and said to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26 And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end. 27 But (AN)no one can enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. 31 (AR)And his mother and his (AS)brothers came, and standing outside they sent to him and called him. 32 And a crowd was sitting around him, and they said to him, “Your mother and your brothers[c] are outside, seeking you.” 33 And he answered them, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” 34 And (AT)looking about at those who sat around him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 35 (AU)For whoever (AV)does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother.”

Living Bible
3 While in Capernaum Jesus went over to the synagogue again, and noticed a man there with a deformed hand.
2 Since it was the Sabbath, Jesus’ enemies watched him closely. Would he heal the man’s hand? If he did, they planned to arrest him!
3 Jesus asked the man to come and stand in front of the congregation. 4 Then turning to his enemies he asked, “Is it all right to do kind deeds on Sabbath days? Or is this a day for doing harm? Is it a day to save lives or to destroy them?” But they wouldn’t answer him. 5 Looking around at them angrily, for he was deeply disturbed by their indifference to human need, he said to the man, “Reach out your hand.” He did, and instantly his hand was healed!
6 At once the Pharisees[a] went away and met with the Herodians to discuss plans for killing Jesus.
7-8 Meanwhile, Jesus and his disciples withdrew to the beach, followed by a huge crowd from all over Galilee, Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, from beyond the Jordan River, and even from as far away as Tyre and Sidon. For the news about his miracles had spread far and wide and vast numbers came to see him for themselves.
9 He instructed his disciples to bring around a boat and to have it standing ready to rescue him in case he was crowded off the beach. 10 For there had been many healings that day and as a result great numbers of sick people were crowding around him, trying to touch him.
11 And whenever those possessed by demons caught sight of him they would fall down before him shrieking, “You are the Son of God!” 12 But he strictly warned them not to make him known.
13 Afterwards he went up into the hills and summoned certain ones he chose, inviting them to come and join him there; and they did. 14-15 Then he selected twelve of them to be his regular companions and to go out to preach and to cast out demons. 16-19 These are the names of the twelve he chose: Simon (he renamed him “Peter”), James and John (the sons of Zebedee, but Jesus called them “Sons of Thunder”), Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James (the son of Alphaeus), Thaddaeus, Simon (a member of a political party advocating violent overthrow of the Roman government), Judas Iscariot (who later betrayed him).
20 When he returned to the house where he was staying, the crowds began to gather again, and soon it was so full of visitors that he couldn’t even find time to eat. 21 When his friends heard what was happening, they came to try to take him home with them.
“He’s out of his mind,” they said.
22 But the Jewish teachers of religion who had arrived from Jerusalem said, “His trouble is that he’s possessed by Satan, king of demons. That’s why demons obey him.”
23 Jesus summoned these men and asked them (using proverbs they all understood), “How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 A kingdom divided against itself will collapse. 25 A home filled with strife and division destroys itself. 26 And if Satan is fighting against himself, how can he accomplish anything? He would never survive. 27 Satan must be bound before his demons are cast out,[b] just as a strong man must be tied up before his house can be ransacked and his property robbed.
28 “I solemnly declare that any sin of man can be forgiven, even blasphemy against me; 29 but blasphemy against the Holy Spirit can never be forgiven. It is an eternal sin.”
30 He told them this because they were saying he did his miracles by Satan’s power instead of acknowledging it was by the Holy Spirit’s power.[c]
31-32 Now his mother and brothers arrived at the crowded house where he was teaching, and they sent word for him to come out and talk with them. “Your mother and brothers are outside and want to see you,” he was told.
33 He replied, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” 34 Looking at those around him he said, “These are my mother and brothers! 35 Anyone who does God’s will is my brother, and my sister, and my mother.”

3 Jesús volvió a visitar la sinagoga, y allí se encontró con un hombre que tenía una mano atrofiada. 2 Algunos lo vigilaban, para ver si sanaba al hombre en el día de reposo y así poder acusarlo. 3 Jesús le dijo al hombre con la mano atrofiada: «Levántate, y ponte en medio.» 4 A los demás les preguntó: «¿Qué está permitido hacer en los días de reposo? ¿El bien, o el mal? ¿Salvar una vida, o quitar la vida?» Ellos guardaron silencio. 5 Jesús los miró con enojo y tristeza, al ver la dureza de sus corazones. Entonces dijo al hombre: «Extiende la mano.» El hombre la extendió, y su mano quedó sana. 6 Tan pronto como los fariseos salieron, empezaron a conspirar con los herodianos para matar a Jesús.

La madre y los hermanos de Jesús(G)
31 Llegaron entonces la madre y los hermanos de Jesús, pero se quedaron afuera y mandaron a llamarlo. 32 La muchedumbre sentada a su alrededor le dijo: «Tu madre, tus hermanos y tus hermanas están allí afuera, y te buscan.» 33 Jesús les respondió: «¿Y quién es mi madre, y mis hermanos?» 34 Miró entonces a los que estaban sentados a su alrededor, y dijo: «Mi madre y mis hermanos están aquí. 35 Porque todo el que hace la voluntad de Dios es mi hermano, y mi hermana, y mi madre.»
