Jesus Heals on the Sabbath
3 Another time Jesus went into the synagogue,(A) and a man with a shriveled hand was there. 2 Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely(B) to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath.(C) 3 Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Stand up in front of everyone.”
4 Then Jesus asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent.
5 He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored. 6 Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians(D) how they might kill Jesus.(E)
Crowds Follow Jesus(F)
7 Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lake, and a large crowd from Galilee followed.(G) 8 When they heard about all he was doing, many people came to him from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, and the regions across the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon.(H) 9 Because of the crowd he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him, to keep the people from crowding him. 10 For he had healed many,(I) so that those with diseases were pushing forward to touch him.(J) 11 Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.”(K) 12 But he gave them strict orders not to tell others about him.(L)
Jesus Appoints the Twelve(M)
13 Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him.(N) 14 He appointed twelve[a](O) that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach 15 and to have authority to drive out demons.(P) 16 These are the twelve he appointed: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter),(Q) 17 James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means “sons of thunder”), 18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot 19 and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.
Jesus Accused by His Family and by Teachers of the Law(R)(S)
20 Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered,(T) so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat.(U) 21 When his family[b] heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”(V)
22 And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem(W) said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul!(X) By the prince of demons he is driving out demons.”(Y)
23 So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables:(Z) “How can Satan(AA) drive out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. 27 In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house.(AB) 28 Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”(AC)
30 He said this because they were saying, “He has an impure spirit.”
31 Then Jesus’ mother and brothers arrived.(AD) Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him. 32 A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, “Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you.”
33 “Who are my mother and my brothers?” he asked.
34 Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 35 Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”

3 Muling pumasok si Jesus sa sinagoga. Naratnan niya roon ang isang lalaking paralisado ang isang kamay. 2 Pinagmasdan ng ilang taong naroroon kung pagagalingin ni Jesus ang lalaking iyon sa Araw ng Pamamahinga, upang may maiparatang sila laban sa kanya. 3 Tinawag ni Jesus ang lalaking paralisado ang kamay, “Halika rito!” 4 Pagkatapos, tinanong naman niya ang mga tao, “Alin ba ang naaayon sa Kautusan, ang gumawa ng mabuti, o ang gumawa ng masama sa Araw ng Pamamahinga? 7 Umalis si Jesus at ang kanyang mga alagad at sila'y nagpunta sa tabi ng lawa. Sinundan siya roon ng napakaraming taong buhat sa Galilea, sa Judea, 8 sa Jerusalem, sa Idumea, sa ibayo ng Jordan, at sa palibot ng Tiro at Sidon. Sumunod sila kay Jesus dahil nabalitaan nila ang lahat ng ginagawa niya. 9 Dahil(B) napakarami ng mga tao, inutusan ni Jesus ang kanyang mga alagad na maghanda ng isang bangkang masasakyan niya upang hindi siya maipit ng mga taong dumaragsa. 10 Sapagkat marami na siyang pinagaling, dinudumog siya ng lahat ng maysakit upang mahawakan man lamang siya. 11 Bawat taong sinasapian ng masamang espiritu na makakita sa kanya ay nagpapatirapa sa harapan niya at sumisigaw, “Ikaw ang Anak ng Diyos!” 12 Ngunit mahigpit na inutusan ni Jesus ang masasamang espiritu na huwag ipagsabi kung sino siya.

Si Jesus at si Beelzebul(D)
20 Pag-uwi ni Jesus, muling nagkatipon doon ang napakaraming tao kaya't hindi na sila nagkaroon ng pagkakataong kumain pa. 21 Nang mabalitaan iyon ng kanyang mga kamag-anak, pumunta sila roon upang kunin siya dahil maraming nagsasabi na siya'y nasisiraan ng bait.
22 Sinasabi(E) naman ng mga tagapagturo ng Kautusan na galing sa Jerusalem, “Sinasapian siya ni Beelzebul. Nakapagpapalayas siya ng demonyo sa pamamagitan ng kapangyarihan ng pinuno ng mga demonyo!”
23 Dahil dito, pinalapit ni Jesus ang mga tao at sinabi sa kanila ang ilang talinghaga. Sabi niya, “Paanong mapapalayas ni Satanas ang kanyang sarili? 24 Kapag naglaban-laban ang mga mamamayan ng isang kaharian, mawawasak ang kahariang iyon. 25 Kapag naglaban-laban ang mga kaanib ng isang sambahayan, magkakawatak-watak ang sambahayang iyon. 26 Gayundin naman, kapag kinalaban ni Satanas ang kanyang sarili at nagkabaha-bahagi ang kanyang mga kampon, hindi siya magtatagal at iyon na ang kanyang magiging wakas.
27 “Hindi maaaring pasukin at pagnakawan ang bahay ng isang taong malakas, malibang gapusin muna siya. Kapag siya'y nakagapos na, saka pa lamang mapagnanakawan ang kanyang bahay. 28 Tandaan ninyo ito: maaaring patawarin ang tao sa lahat ng kanyang kasalanan at paglapastangan, 29 ngunit(F) ang sinumang lumapastangan sa Espiritu Santo ay walang kapatawaran, sapagkat siya ay nagkasala ng walang hanggang kasalanan.” 30 Sinabi ito ni Jesus sapagkat sinasabi ng mga tao na siya'y sinasapian ng masamang espiritu.
Ang Ina at mga Kapatid ni Jesus(G)
31 Dumating ang ina at mga kapatid ni Jesus. Tumayo sila sa labas ng bahay at ipinatawag siya. 32 Nang oras na iyon ay maraming taong nakaupo sa palibot ni Jesus. May nagsabi sa kanya, “Nasa labas po at naghihintay ang inyong ina at mga kapatid na lalaki [at mga kapatid na babae].[c]”
33 “Sino ang aking ina at mga kapatid?” tanong naman ni Jesus. 34 Tumingin siya sa mga nakaupo sa palibot at sinabi, “Ito ang aking ina at mga kapatid! 35 Sapagkat ang mga sumusunod sa kalooban ng Diyos ang aking mga kapatid at aking ina.”

A Great Crowd Follows Jesus
7 (K)Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the sea, and (L)a great crowd followed, from Galilee and Judea 8 and Jerusalem and (M)Idumea and from beyond the Jordan and from around (N)Tyre and Sidon. When the great crowd heard all that he was doing, they came to him. 9 And he told his disciples to (O)have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, lest they (P)crush him, 10 for (Q)he had healed many, so that all who had (R)diseases pressed around him (S)to touch him. 11 (T)And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they (U)fell down before him and cried out, “You are (V)the Son of God.” 12 And (W)he strictly ordered them not to make him known.

Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit
22 And (AK)the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, (AL)“He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “by the prince of demons he casts out the demons.” 23 (AM)And he called them to him and said to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26 And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end. 27 But (AN)no one can enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. (AO)Then indeed he may plunder his house.

A House Divided Cannot Stand(S)

The Unpardonable Sin(AA)
28 (AB)“Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; 29 but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation”— 30 because they (AC)said, “He has an unclean spirit.”
Jesus’ Mother and Brothers Send for Him(AD)
31 (AE)Then His brothers and His mother came, and standing outside they sent to Him, calling Him. 32 And a multitude was sitting around Him; and they said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers [h]are outside seeking You.”
33 But He answered them, saying, “Who is My mother, or My brothers?” 34 And He looked around in a circle at those who sat about Him, and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! 35 For whoever does the (AF)will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.”
