Jesús sana al hombre de la mano seca
3 (A)Otra vez entró Jesús en una sinagoga(B); y había allí un hombre que tenía una mano seca[a]. 2 Y lo observaban(C) para ver si lo sanaba en el día de reposo, para poder acusar a Jesús(D). 3 Y Jesús le dijo* al hombre que tenía la mano seca: «Levántate y ponte aquí en medio».
4 Entonces Jesús dijo* a los otros: «¿Es lícito en el día de reposo hacer bien o hacer mal, salvar una vida o matar?». Pero ellos guardaban silencio. 5 Y mirando con enojo a los que lo rodeaban, y entristecido por la dureza de sus corazones, le dijo* al hombre: «Extiende tu mano». Y él la extendió, y su mano quedó sana[b](E). 6 Pero cuando los fariseos salieron, enseguida comenzaron a tramar[c] con los herodianos(F) en contra de Jesús, para ver cómo lo podrían destruir.
Las multitudes siguen a Jesús
7 (G)Entonces Jesús se retiró al mar con Sus discípulos, y una gran multitud de Galilea lo siguió. Y también de Judea(H), 8 de Jerusalén, de Idumea(I), del otro lado del Jordán, y de los alrededores de Tiro y Sidón(J), una gran multitud, que al oír todo lo que Jesús hacía, vino a Él.
9 Y dijo a Sus discípulos que tuvieran lista una barca para Él por causa de la multitud(K), para que no lo oprimieran; 10 porque Él había sanado a muchos(L), de manera que todos los que tenían aflicciones(M), para tocar a Jesús, se echaban sobre Él(N). 11 Y siempre que los espíritus inmundos veían a Jesús, caían delante de Él y gritaban: «Tú eres el Hijo de Dios(O)». 12 Pero Él les advertía con insistencia que no revelaran Su identidad[d](P).
Designación de los doce apóstoles
13 Después Jesús subió* al monte(Q), llamó*(R) a los que Él quiso, y ellos vinieron a Él. 14 Designó a doce[e], para que estuvieran con Él y para enviarlos a predicar, 15 y para que tuvieran autoridad de expulsar demonios.
16 Designó, pues, a los doce: (S)Simón (a quien puso por nombre Pedro), 17 Jacobo[f], hijo de Zebedeo, y Juan hermano de Jacobo (a quienes puso por nombre Boanerges, que significa: «Hijos del Trueno»); 18 Andrés, Felipe, Bartolomé, Mateo, Tomás, Jacobo[g], hijo de Alfeo, Tadeo, Simón el cananita[h]; 19 y Judas Iscariote, el que también lo entregó.
Jesús y Beelzebú
20 Jesús llegó* a una casa(T), y la multitud se juntó* de nuevo(U), a tal punto que ellos ni siquiera podían comer[i](V). 21 Cuando Sus parientes(W) oyeron esto, fueron para hacerse cargo de Él, porque decían: «Está fuera de Sí(X)».
22 Y los escribas que habían descendido de Jerusalén(Y) decían: «Tiene a Beelzebú(Z); y expulsa los demonios por medio del príncipe de los demonios(AA)». 23 (AB)Llamándolos junto a Él, Jesús les hablaba en parábolas(AC): «¿Cómo puede Satanás expulsar a Satanás(AD)? 24 Si un reino está dividido contra sí mismo, ese reino no puede perdurar. 25 Si una casa está dividida contra sí misma, esa casa no podrá permanecer. 26 Y si Satanás(AE)se ha levantado contra sí mismo y está dividido, no puede permanecer, sino que ha llegado su fin[j].
27 »Pero nadie puede entrar en la casa de un hombre fuerte y saquear sus bienes si primero no lo ata[k] ; entonces podrá saquear su casa(AF) . 28 En verdad les digo que todos los pecados serán perdonados a los hijos de los hombres(AG), y las blasfemias con que blasfemen, 29 pero cualquiera que blasfeme contra el Espíritu Santo no tiene jamás perdón(AH), sino que es culpable de pecado eterno». 30 Porque decían: «Tiene un espíritu inmundo».
La madre y los hermanos de Jesús
31 (AI)Entonces llegaron* Su madre y Sus hermanos, y quedándose afuera, mandaron a llamar a Jesús. 32 Y había una multitud sentada alrededor de Él, y le dijeron*: «Tu madre y Tus hermanos[l] están afuera y te buscan». 33 «¿Quiénes son Mi madre y Mis hermanos?», les dijo* Jesús.
34 Y mirando a los que estaban sentados en círculo alrededor de Él, dijo*: «Aquí están Mi madre y Mis hermanos(AJ). 35 Porque cualquiera que hace la voluntad de Dios(AK), ese es Mi hermano, y hermana y madre».

Is It Lawful To Heal On The Sabbath? Jesus Heals a Man, Inflaming The Pharisees
3 And He entered again into the synagogue. And there was a man there having his hand having become-withered. 2 And they were closely-watching Him to see if He would cure him on the Sabbath, in order that they might accuse Him. 3 And He says to the man having the withered hand, “Arise into the middle”. 4 And He says to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do-harm[a], to save a life or to kill?” But the ones were being silent. 5 And having looked-around-at them with anger, while being deeply-grieved at the hardness of their heart, He says to the man, “Stretch out the hand”. And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored. 6 And having gone out, the Pharisees immediately were giving counsel against Him with the Herodians[b] so that they might destroy Him.
A Great Multitude Comes To Jesus To Be Healed
7 And Jesus withdrew[c] to the sea with His disciples, and a great multitude from Galilee followed. And from Judea, 8 and from Jerusalem, and from Idumea and beyond the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude hearing all that He was doing came to Him. 9 And He said to His disciples that a small-boat should be standing-ready-for Him because of the crowd— in order that they might not be pressing[d] Him. 10 For He cured many, so that they were falling-upon Him in order that all who were having scourges[e] might touch Him. 11 And the unclean spirits, whenever they were seeing Him, were falling-before Him and crying-out, saying that “You are the Son of God”. 12 And He was sternly rebuking them in order that they might not make Him known.
The Twelve Are Appointed
13 And He goes up on the mountain and summons whom He was wanting. And they went to Him. 14 And He appointed twelve, whom He also named apostles, in order that they might be with Him, and in order that He might send them out to proclaim 15 and to have authority to cast out the demons. 16 And He appointed the twelve, even Peter (He put the name on Simon), 17 and James, the son of Zebedee, and John, the brother of James (and He put on them the name Boanerges, which means “sons of thunder”), 18 and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James, the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon, the Cananaean[f], 19 and Judas Iscariot, who also handed Him over.
Scribes Say Jesus Uses Satan’s Power. Such Blasphemy of The Spirit Will Not Be Forgiven
20 And He goes into a house[g]. And the crowd comes-together again, so that they were not even able to eat bread. 21 And having heard-of it, the ones[h] from Him went-forth to take-hold-of [i] Him. For they were saying[j] that “He lost-His-senses”. 22 And the scribes having come down from Jerusalem were saying that “He has Beelzebul”, and that “He is casting-out the demons by[k] the ruler of the demons”. 23 And having summoned them, He was speaking to them in parables: “How is Satan able to be casting-out Satan? 24 And if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom is not able to stand; 25 and if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26 And if Satan stood-up against himself and was divided, he is not able to stand, but he has an end[l]. 27 But no one, having entered into the house of the strong man, can plunder his things unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder[m] his house. 28 Truly I say to you that all sins and blasphemies will be forgiven to the sons of humans[n], whatever they may blaspheme. 29 But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit does not have forgiveness forever, but is guilty of an eternal sin”— 30 because[o] they were saying “He has an unclean spirit”.
Whoever Does The Will of God Is My Family
31 And His mother and His brothers come. And while standing outside, they sent-forth a message to Him, calling Him. 32 And a crowd was sitting around Him. And they say to Him, “Behold— Your mother and Your brothers and Your sisters are outside seeking You”. 33 And having responded to them, He says “Who is My mother and My brothers?” 34 And having looked-around-at the ones sitting in a circle around Him, He says “Look— My mother and My brothers! 35 For whoever does the will of God— this one is My brother and sister and mother”.

- Mark 3:4 The answer is that the day makes no difference. It is good to do good and wrong to do harm on all seven days. The Sabbath is a day of rest from one’s work, not from doing good.
- Mark 3:6 That is, those politically linked to Herod’s family. As a false prophet, being a Sabbath-breaker, Jesus is a religious and political problem for these leaders.
- Mark 3:7 Or, went-back.
- Mark 3:9 Or, crowding, squeezing.
- Mark 3:10 That is, ailments perceived as a scourge from God.
- Mark 3:18 That is, the zealot.
- Mark 3:20 Mark may mean ‘His house’, connecting this with the coming of His family in v 31.

Come and eat!); or, the misinformed statement of brothers who did not understand His mission or believe in Him (Jn 7:5); or, an impersonal statement meaning ‘people were saying’.
- Mark 3:22 Or, in union with.
- Mark 3:26 That is, he is finished; he is defeated.
- Mark 3:27 Jesus is binding Satan by casting out demons, and will plunder his house.
- Mark 3:28 That is, the human race.
- Mark 3:30 This is Mark’s explanation of why Jesus said this, and what Jesus meant by it. If Jesus does a miracle which you fully acknowledge but attribute to Satan, what more can be done? You have called the Spirit of God Satan. You have cut yourself off from God.

4 And He said to them, “Is it lawful to do a good deed on the Sabbath day, or to do evil; to save the life, or to kill!?” But they did not answer.
5 Then He looked at them angrily, mourning also for the hardness of their hearts, and said to the man, “Stretch forth your hand.” And he stretched it out. And his hand was restored, as whole as the other.
6 And the Pharisees departed, and immediately gathered a council with the Herodians against Him, so that they might destroy Him.
7 But Jesus withdrew with His disciples to the sea. And a great multitude followed Him from Galilee, and from Judea,
8 and from Jerusalem, and from Idumea, and beyond Jordan. And those who dwelt around Tyre and Sidon - when they had heard what great things He did - came to Him in great number.
9 And He commanded His disciples that a little ship should wait for Him because of the multitude, lest they should overwhelm Him.
10 For He had healed many; so much so that they pressed upon Him to touch Him, as many as had plagues.
11 And when the unclean spirits saw Him, they fell down before Him, and cried, saying, “You are the Son of God!”
12 And He sharply rebuked them, that they should not tell Who He was.
13 Then He went up into a mountain and called to Him whom He would. And they came to Him.
14 And He appointed twelve, that they should be with Him. And that He might send them to preach.
15 And that they might have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out demons.
16 And the first was Simon. And He named Simon, ‘Peter’;

20 And the multitude assembled again, so that they could not even eat bread.
21 And when His family heard of it, they went out to get Him. For they said that He was beside Himself.
22 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem, said, “He has Beelzebub. And through the prince of the demons He casts out demons.”
23 But He called them to Him, and said to them in parables, “How can Satan drive out Satan?
24 “For if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
25 “Or if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot continue.
26 “So if Satan opposes himself, and is divided, he cannot endure, but is at an end.
27 “No one can enter into a strong man’s house, and take away his goods, except that he first bind that strong man, and then rob his house.
28 “Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the children of man, and blasphemies with which they blaspheme.
29 “But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Ghost, shall never have forgiveness; but is culpable of eternal damnation.”
30 He said this because they said, ‘He has an unclean spirit.’
31 Then His brothers and mother came and stood outside and sent word to Him and called Him.
32 And the people who sat around Him said to Him, “Behold, your mother and your brothers seek you outside.”
33 But He answered them, saying, “Who is my mother and my brothers?”
34 And He looked at those who sat around Him, and said, “Behold My mother and My brothers.
35 “For whoever does the will of God, he is My brother, My sister, and My mother.”

Jesus Heals on the Sabbath
3 Another time Jesus went into the synagogue,(A) and a man with a shriveled hand was there. 2 Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely(B) to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath.(C) 3 Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Stand up in front of everyone.”
4 Then Jesus asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent.
5 He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored. 6 Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians(D) how they might kill Jesus.(E)
Crowds Follow Jesus(F)
7 Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lake, and a large crowd from Galilee followed.(G) 8 When they heard about all he was doing, many people came to him from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, and the regions across the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon.(H) 9 Because of the crowd he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him, to keep the people from crowding him. 10 For he had healed many,(I) so that those with diseases were pushing forward to touch him.(J) 11 Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.”(K) 12 But he gave them strict orders not to tell others about him.(L)
Jesus Appoints the Twelve(M)

Jesus Accused by His Family and by Teachers of the Law(R)(S)
20 Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered,(T) so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat.(U) 21 When his family[b] heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”(V)
22 And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem(W) said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul!(X) By the prince of demons he is driving out demons.”(Y)
23 So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables:(Z) “How can Satan(AA) drive out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. 27 In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house.(AB) 28 Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”(AC)
30 He said this because they were saying, “He has an impure spirit.”
31 Then Jesus’ mother and brothers arrived.(AD) Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him. 32 A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, “Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you.”
33 “Who are my mother and my brothers?” he asked.
34 Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 35 Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”
