¹⁷ And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. ^(A)I came not to call the righteous, ^(B)but sinners.”

¹² But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. ¹³ Go and learn ^(A)what this means: ^(B)‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For ^(C)I came not to call the righteous, ^(D)but sinners.”

⁷ Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who ^(A)repents than over ninety-nine ^(B)righteous persons who need no repentance.

³¹ And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. ^32 (A)I have not come to call the righteous ^(B)but sinners ^(C)to repentance.”

¹⁵ The saying is ^(A)trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus ^(B)came into the world to save sinners, ^(C)of whom I am the foremost. ¹⁶ But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.

¹⁰ For ^(A)the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

³ For ^(A)we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. ⁴ But when ^(B)the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, ⁵ he saved us, ^(C)not because of works done by us in righteousness, but ^(D)according to his own mercy, by ^(E)the washing of regeneration and ^(F)renewal of the Holy Spirit, ⁶ whom he ^(G)poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, ⁷ so that ^(H)being justified by his grace we might become ^(I)heirs ^(J)according to the hope of eternal life.

⁶ For ^(A)while we were still weak, at the right time ^(B)Christ died for the ungodly. ⁷ For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— ⁸ but ^(C)God shows his love for us in that ^(D)while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
