2 A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home.

⁴⁷ When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea,^(A) he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death.

³⁵ As Jesus approached Jericho,^(B) a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. ³⁶ When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was happening. ³⁷ They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”^(C)

³⁸ He called out, “Jesus, Son of David,^(D) have mercy^(E) on me!”

¹⁸ Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus.

²⁴ Jesus left that place and went to the vicinity of Tyre.^[a](B) He entered a house and did not want anyone to know it; yet he could not keep his presence secret.

⁴⁵ Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places.^(A) Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.^(B)

9 Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town.^(B)

⁶ When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken.
