⁵ As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.^(A)

Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene

¹¹ But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. As she wept, she bent over to look^[a] into the tomb,^{(A) 12} and she saw two angels in white sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet.^(B)

³ His appearance was like lightning and his clothing white as snow.

⁸ Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed,^(A)

³ but when they went in they did not find the body.^{[a] 4} While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men in dazzling clothes stood beside them.^{(A) 5} The women^[b] were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men^[c] said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here but has risen.^[d]

²⁹ But she was much perplexed by his words and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. ³⁰ The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

¹² When Zechariah saw him, he was terrified, and fear overwhelmed him.

¹⁵ When the whole crowd saw him, they were immediately overcome with awe, and they ran forward to greet him.

⁴⁹ But when they saw him walking on the sea, they thought it was a ghost and cried out, ⁵⁰ for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.”^(A)

¹² He said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words.^(A)
