21 (A)And they *compelled a passer-by coming from the country, Simon of Cyrene (the father of Alexander and (B)Rufus), to carry His cross.

The Crucifixion

22 (C)Then they *brought Him to the place (D)Golgotha, which is translated, Place of a Skull. 23 And they tried to give Him (E)wine mixed with myrrh; but He did not take it. 24 And they *crucified Him, and *(F)divided up His garments among themselves, casting [a]lots for them to decide [b]what each man would take. 25 Now it was the [c](G)third hour [d]when they crucified Him. 26 The inscription of the charge against Him [e]read, “(H)THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

27 And they *crucified two [f]rebels with Him, one on His right and one on His left.[g] 29 Those passing by were [h]hurling abuse at Him, (I)shaking their heads and saying, “Ha! You who are going to (J)destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, 30 save Yourself by coming down from the cross!” 31 In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes, were mocking Him among themselves and saying, “(K)He saved others; [i]He cannot save Himself! 32 Let this Christ, (L)the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe!” (M)Those who were crucified with Him were also insulting Him.

The one who would destroy the temple and rebuild it[e] in three days, 30 save yourself by[f] coming down from the cross!” 31 In the same way also the chief priests, along with the scribes, were mocking him[g] to one another, saying, “He saved others; he is not able to save himself! 32 Let the Christ, the king of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe! Even those who were crucified with him were reviling him.
