¹⁸ and began to salute Him, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

⁴² “He ^(A)saved others; Himself He cannot save. ^[a]If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe ^[b]Him. ^43 (B)He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him; for He said, ‘I am the Son of God.’ ”

¹⁴ Now ^(A)it was the Preparation Day of the Passover, and about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews, “Behold your King!”

¹⁵ But they cried out, “Away with Him, away with Him! Crucify Him!”

Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?”

The chief priests answered, ^(B)“We have no king but Caesar!”

³⁶ The soldiers also mocked Him, coming and offering Him ^(A)sour wine, ³⁷ and saying, “If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself.”

²⁹ And ^(A)those who passed by blasphemed Him, ^(B)wagging their heads and saying, “Aha! ^(C)You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, ³⁰ save Yourself, and come down from the cross!”

³¹ Likewise the chief priests also, ^(D)mocking among themselves with the scribes, said, “He saved ^(E)others; Himself He cannot save. ³² Let the Christ, the King of Israel, descend now from the cross, that we may see and ^[a]believe.”

Even ^(F)those who were crucified with Him reviled Him.

^2 (A)Then Pilate asked Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?”

He answered and said to him, “It is as you say.”

^20 (A)Come therefore, let us now kill him and cast him into some pit; and we shall say, ‘Some wild beast has devoured him.’ We shall see what will become of his dreams!”

¹⁰ So he told it to his father and his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall your mother and I and ^(A)your brothers indeed come to bow down to the earth before you?”
