⁷² And immediately the rooster crowed ^(A)a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had said to him, ^(B)“Before the rooster crows twice, you will ^(C)deny me three times.” And he broke down and wept.^[a]

³⁰ And ^(A)Jesus said to him, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before ^(B)the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.”

⁶⁸ But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you mean.” And he went out into the gateway^[a] and ^(A)the rooster crowed.^[b]

^16 (A)And if any survivors escape, they will be on the mountains, like ^(B)doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, each one over his iniquity.

¹⁰ For ^(A)godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas ^(B)worldly grief produces death.

⁶² And he went out and wept bitterly.

⁶⁰ But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed.

¹⁷ “But ^(A)when he ^(B)came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! ¹⁸ I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, ^(C)I have sinned against ^(D)heaven and before you. ^19 (E)I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”’

⁷⁴ Then he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, “I do not know the man.” And immediately the rooster crowed. ⁷⁵ And Peter remembered the saying of Jesus, ^(A)“Before the rooster crows, you will ^(B)deny me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly.

^34 (A)Jesus said to him, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, ^(B)before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”
